Tiefling

Like humans, Tieflings come from a diverse array of backgrounds, all of which involve fiendish entities. Some Tieflings were created through deals with demons, some from interbreeding between fiends and humans, and some from a fiendish curse (or blessing, depending on how one sees the situation). Most Tieflings nowadays are fairly human-looking, as through centuries of persecution Tieflings with less human characteristics were cruelly murdered. At present, though their fiendish ancestors could be many generations removed, others may still harbor anti-Tiefling sentiment. Escaping the prejudices of others is no easy task. For many years now, despite integration efforts, Tieflings have still been hunted by fringe groups of extremists, hell-bent on ridding their land of "born evils". Some Tieflings try to dismantle the prejudices held against their race by being as upstanding as possible, but others find themselves giving in to the predispositions of their fellows and causing havoc and terror. Many tieflings now reside in Green Zones: areas where tieflings are safe and protected both societally and legally.

Way of the Astral Self

Monks all practice harnessing the energy of life that flows through living bodies. This fundemental material, the building block of the universe and element of magick, they refer to as Ki. Tamros practices under a niche study of Ki, known as the Way of the Astral Self. Through this, Tamros ignores the call of his body and material makeup, letting the Ki flow and embody a metaphysical, astral self. Through intense concentration and focus, he can harness the Ki that exists in the world in order to form it into astral projections which can serve him in combat (or around the temple!). Unbeknownst to even him, a small portion of Ki energy exists around him, not enough to be harnessed into projections but enough to emit a faint aura. This Ki belongs to the apparition of his sister, taken too soon, who still follows him through energy, hoping to guide and keep him safe.

Blooming Point

Blooming Point is the name the locals at the base of the mountain have given to its peak. Tamros' temple is built upon that very peak, haloed each morning with the blooming of the sun. Despite the town, Setting Grounds close proximity relative to Blooming Point, inhabitants of the temple rarely interact with their lower dwellers. Partly due to the fact that the temple is largely self-sufficient, but also partly due to the temple's dual purpose as a shelter for refugees and disparaged or hunted races.

Personality

Tamros isn't a stereotypical monk. Witty and anxious, challenging and intensely loyal, Tamros' calm and collected demeanor betrays his true intensity. His power often comes from harnessing his emotional energy in the only way he can: turning it into action. His nature is conflicted at its source; his freedom, intentions, and ability have been limited by a birth he can't change. His inherent assertive personality was dampened and subverted by a necessary caution and anxiety about his visibility in the world; his acceptance in a space. Still, more than anything, his loyalty and willingness to champion a cause has led him to leave his temple in order to travel and help the needy, lead the persecuted, give power to the powerless, and give the life he was given to those who were not so lucky as he.

History

Tamros, freshly two, and his sister, all but infantile, were left at the peak of Blooming Point. They were not the first batch of Tieflings left to be discovered and brought into a safe harbor, and they would not be the last. The monks raised them alongside a handful of other children, all of various races, backgrounds, and ages, in the ways and paths of their temple. Despite the monk's relatively low-profile and secluded existence, militia or hunters would occasionally pass by. Hunters were especially dangerous, tracking various races down for sport or for monetary gain. Still, the monks kept their area safe. Just because they were committed to an acetic lifestyle didn't mean their philosophy was pacifistic. So long as the temple's inhabitants kept themselves safe inside the grand walls that separated the temple and peak from the rest of the world, they would be safe.

Temple of Flowing Life

The Temple of Flowing Life is devoted to harnessing the Ki that exists in every being and teaching the ways of the universe to those who need it most. They focus mostly on two main paths: the Way of the Open Hand and the Way of the Astral Self. These two paths are meant to teach defense and healing, ways to protect oneself and others. The temple maintains a tight balance of keeping a low enough profile not to alert too many eyes, yet reaching out to enough people so that their teachings and traditions do not become lost to time. They often allow older members to travel and seek out those in need, direct them to the temple, or teach what they can on their travels. Tamros was a special case, as Tieflings are still highly prejudiced against, but he was allowed to make his own pilgrimage after deliberation by the elders. A Tiefling as a face of the temple would serve well to make other subjugated races feel more comfort and safety.

Julian [ Enemy turned Partner ]

It would be untrue to say that Tamros had seen right through Julian from the start. No, in the beginning, he was filled with rage and annoyance at his captor. His blatant arrogance and apparent indifference to the lives of others left a bitter taste in his mouth, and it wasn't just the metalic weight of his own blood. But, through his time being interrogated by the Cronus boy, as much as Julian probed into his mind to find the answers he sought, Tamros found his own answers in Julian's soul. Both of their facades were betrayed by their nature, but it was Tamros' stubbornness and insistence that Julian was capable of more that stuck with him, even after Tamros' release. Their second meeting was mere chance, yet fate incarnate. Their third was rife with emotion and violence. Onto apologies and bandages, sacrifice and devotion, love and loss and love again. Both have seen the other at wild points, yet through all they have been through, they were steadfast and comitted to seeing the other through.

Juniper [ Ally / Friend ]

Juniper's revolutionary spirit, wild nature, and bold passion drew Tamros in immediatly. She was reminicent of his sister in part, and he was determined to keep her and her friend safe and protected in all the ways he failed to with his Sarcya. Life took him to unpredictable places and experiences alongside her and her ever-growing crew of allies. He truly respects her, marvels at her power, and tries to be a voice of reason for her, even when he can't find that same reason in himself.

Perster [ Aquaintance ]

Perster was a fellow at the temple, but he wasn't a monk. He didn't see much of him before his disapearence, but Tamros often wondered what business a Cleric had in an unreligious space like this. When Tamros finally learned what had become of Perster, he was befuddled to say the least. A Circus show? Magic dampeners? All too puzzling and slightly too-worrying for Tamros to concieve of. He's just glad that Perster is in a healther place, with a group of friends who adore him and keep him safe. He does find it slightly amusing though... is it a small world, or does the Ki bring souls together who are already connected?

Sarcya [ Sister (deceased) ]

Sarcya always was the boisterous one. The lively one. The tenacious one. The daring one. Too daring, too bold. She ventured into the trees outside of the security of the walls. Tamros saw, but he wasn't fast enough. all that remained was her limp body and two piles of ash from the hunters who took her life.
