- He originally started with a single bird but his collection grew after his canary, Gatsby, passed away and he ran away!

About
Mavis Applegate is one of two bookkeepers for the Syndicate. His roots are unknown by the other members and he prefers it that way. As a runaway, he was lucky enough to find the Syndicate and be allowed to stay there despite not knowing much about the assassination side of the organization. He keeps records but his main passion is tending to his birds and reading all kinds of literature.
Legally, Albert C. Corvus, is the only child of Alfred G. Corvus and his late wife Linnea Corvus. His mother passed away from illness complications when he was very young. He doesn't remember much about her but he knows how her death changed his father for the worse. Consumed with grief, his father became a man focused solely on wealth and his image in the eyes of elites. Mavis became a withdrawn child and was ultimately bulled by others because of his timid nature and weak constitution. His social ineptness only worsened when his father pulled him so he could be schooled at home. He was isolated from most children his age except for his cousins. The staff and select members from his family bullied him while his father ignored him. Once he turned sixteen, he decided to run away and has not looked back. Though his family is desperately searching for the Corvus Family heir to take his vast fortune that he's unaware he's entitled to.

"When in doubt, take flight....."
Currently, Mavis is a giant sweetheart and people often find themselves relaxed around him. While he is a bit socially awkward and only gets excited about birds and reading, he has a soothing energy. A major ambassador for bird caretaking and preservation, he is an advocate and owner of an aviary near the mayoral property. Mavis appears at first to be a very warm natured yet naive young man but he gets quiet when someone begins to pry into his family. Despite this, he is very studious preferring to stay inside and read rather than go outside and be active. He does enjoy nature but usually only from afar. He has a weak body and gets sick easily. Mavis is often seen spacing out and is startled very easily. Mavis is very generous especially with information and just tries his best to help others.
As Albert C. Corvus, he was very closed off and did not talk to anyone. Because of his mistreatment in his family home and bullying by his peers, he became nervous and empty. The only escape he had was the literature in the family library and his canary, Gatsby. His father instilled fear into him of the outside world in order to keep him on a short leash but his curiosity and need for freedom lead him to need to find a way out. When he turned sixteen and ran away for the first time, he realized that people weren't actually as awful as he pictured and the second time he escaped, he soon found a place at the mayor's office under Nelia.

Mavis is well-read and naturally very smart. He uses both his wits and things he's learned in literature to get through life. While in theory he can understand, sometimes the execution can be off.
Crossbow Technique
Mavis opted for a crossbow when asked to choose a weapon. He does not like weapons but he decided to choose it for it's practicality and aversion to both guns and swords. He's quite talented with it despite never having to use it.
Strategy
Though he's often not involved in Syndicate missions, sometimes he is asked his "hypothetical" opinion of certain situations. A lot of members follow his strategically thought out plans and it aids them on their missions.
Birds
The Aviary
Mavis currently owns an aviary that was gifted to him by the Syndicate for his 18th birthday. He only has his personal birds and some rescues people have brought to him. While his aviary isn't necessarily for viewing, he often enjoys showing people his birds and educating them on how to keep and care for many different types of birds. His aviary is called the Applegate Aviary.
History
Mavis' love for birds started at an early age when he recieved his mother's canary after her passing. His father almost had him killed simply out of grief but Mavis pleaded and the bird was subsequently given to him. He found the little bird fascinating and wanted to learn all he could about them which led to him taking an interest in Ornithology. His canary, Gatsby lived until he was 9 years old before unfortunately passing. Mavis was only sixteen and his father refused to let him get another bird calling pet ownership childish and unnecessary. Once he left and Maverick realized how fascinated he was with birds, he bought a plot of land and had it converted into a large aviary for him. He also adopted his very first birds, two Macaws are called Hawthorne and Melville, and they bonded rather quickly with Mavis. Birds love the shy young man.
Bird Friends
After recieving his macaws Hawthorne and Melville, he quickly wanted to take in more birds. He found a crow who was injured and named her Lenore. She often rides upon his shoulder and brings him shiny things as presents. After that he acquired his grumpy African Gray Parrot called Thoreau and his three buldgies named Frances, Hodgson and Burnett very soon after. Ever since then, people who have seen him at his aviary or who know him will bring injured birds to him in hopes that he can help them out. He will often take the injured animals to a vetrinarian he has befriended ironically named Dr. Crowley Latimer

Mavis is completely unaware that anything is really wrong with Maverick. He sees him as a friend and even a guardian due to him taking him in. He does often notice that his birds are uncomfortable around him though...

A confidant for the young lad and also a skilled vetrinarian who helps Mavis care for sick/injured animals brought to his aviary. Could be shadier than anyone realizes.

Cousin
Mavis tries to avoid any ties to his past life but when his cousin sees him on the street, she recognizes him immediately. She is one of the few he doesn't despise from his family but he is still uncomfortable around her. She holds an unknown grudge against him.
