As a child, Oswald was greeted by a talking bird, who told him a tale of a fantastical world that needed his help. Oswald was always lonely as a child, and so he accepted quickly, eager to go on an adventure like the ones in the books he read. The bird, Angel, took him to their world and guided him on his quest to defeat the evil tyrant that had taken over their world.

Oswald went through much pain and suffering in the trials and challenges that awaited him in this mysterious land. Eventually, he succeeded, and made it to the castle where this evil tyrant stayed, waiting for him. Carefully, Oswald ascended through the castle, Angel close by his side, to confront the great evil he had been warned so much about.

When Oswald arrived at the top floor of the castle he found...Ariyana. A spoiled brat of a child that had taken over the kingdom just by saying she wanted to. Angel, an all-powerful creature native to the world, had dragged child after child into this conflict, leaving the weak ones to die, just so that they wouldn't have to be the one to confront her. Oswald was furious. Not only did he get dragged through a life-threatening quest for nothing, but Angel had informed him that he could no longer return home.

Furious, betrayed, and full of rage, Aurelius swore vengeance on Angel that day. They joined Ariyana, using the magic they had learned along their quest to curse her, trapping her in the recesses of her mind and using her strength to their own advantage. Aurelius cast Angel out of the castle, and swore to avenge the children that Angel had doomed to the same fate as Aurelius. That day they donned their mask, and became the new villain Angel told the children to defeat.

Aurelius pays close attention to everything that goes on in the kingdom, and purposefully tries to make the path to them as easy for children to travel as possible. They hired Reese and Rudy, two incompetent fools who would pose no threat to any heroes. They sought out the aid of Seraphina, who had the ability to survey the entire kingdom at once, to alert them to any new children that had been trapped in the kingdom. They learned all they could about the magic they had acquired during their own quest, and discovered a way to send the children back home.

If any more heroes ever made it far enough to confront Aurelius, they would monologue to them about the appropriate villain things, keeping up the facade until Angel, the coward that they are, left the room to allow the hero to fight. Aurelius would then attempt to peacefully stop the confrontation, explaining the situation the child was in, and offering them a way back home. No child has ever accepted their offer, often far too deep into the facade to back out right at the end, assuming it to be another trick of the evil mastermind they had been told so much about.

Clover, the youngest hero, was one Aurelius kept a particularly close eye on. They thought this child was much too kind and gentle to be brought into this world whose problems were not theirs. After Clover became the first hero to die on their quest, Aurelius began actively seeking out Angel to end their games as soon as possible. Aurelius planted Clover's favorite flower all around the castle in memory of the hero that should never have been.
