An au set in venula's alien world of Ikosa! Somewhat of a retelling/translation of the original story through a different lens :)

Captain is similar to her canon self partially because of their hands off upbringings still instilling a deep desire for consistent connection. She is skilled socially as well as gifted with natural leadership abilities so it only makes sense to make good use of her by having her lead a crew of laborers. As a laborer she excels, her physique and stamina are very well suited to the work along with managing her crew members coming second nature to her, all in all she should be somewhat of a model citizen, but she has a tendency to become more invested in her peers than her higher ups would like... Captain becomes incredibly emotionally invested in people who are placed under her care akin to a rooster with a flock of hens, she can be in the eyes of the soldiers around her, overprotective of them. She has no qualms about picking fights with soldiers if she feels her crew is being harassed or pushed too hard, this has earned her a fair amount of scars. She tends to take on excess work if a member of her group is ill or injured and highly resistant to any part of her outfit being replaced, if an environment or plan feels excessively dangerous she will fight about it or do it herself.
She also engages in some.. socially frowned upon behaviors with those who are receptive of her advances but most overlook this as its not worth getting into an altercation trying to enforce fraternization restrictions. While captain is often at odds with soldiers she isnt against befriending them if she sniffs out theyre a bit against the grain or an oddball among the ranks. She spends most of her off hours engaging in quality time with members of her crew or others she has befriended. She doesnt mind her lot in life as a laborer and has no real issues over her social status, if anything she resents labor being at times seen as replaceable cogs in a machine but not much she can do besides bite people about it.
