A travelling hermit who normally disguises himself as a chicken.
Chunyan is a former war general who has been living the past few centuries of his retirement travelling around and taking in the sights of the world. In recent times, he has taken a young dragon under his wing. Despite conflicting feelings, he decided to raise her and is now guiding her to slowly uncover the history of her long decimated race.

Quiet and elegant, Chunyan gives off the impression of great wisdom and grace. He acts rather impassively and one can tell from the distant look in his eyes that he's seen a lot in the time he's been in this world, both good or bad.

Chunyan is most commonly seen in the guise of a spotlessly white rooster. He dislikes presenting himself in humanoid form as it draws too much attention in public.
Wanderlust
He's possessed by a strong urge to wander around the world. Chunyan constantly travels from place to place with little rest.

No stranger to spending centuries at a time in isolation, Chunyan is perfectly happy with his own company.

Backstory · · ·
A quiet and rather distant individual, Chunyan appears to have little attachment to the world around him. Little troubles him - he can easily dispatch hostile threats with a few swings of his sword and hunger isn't a problem when he's happy eating whatever he can forage out in the wild.
He's been travelling throughout the lands with little rest for the past few centuries and little has changed in the way he lives his life, except in recent times when he stumbled across a dragon egg and took it upon himself to raise it after it hatched in his possession.

A former soldier and celebrated war general, Chunyan played a key part in the war against the Lung. He was essentially the leading force of the Fung's army and was personally responsible for felling many dragon cities and strongholds with his own hands.
Already weary of his life, Chunyan was all to happy to serve. He was willing to do anything to distract himself from the cacophony that roared in his ears and would've been happy dying on the battlefield, if not for a certain fox bringing him back from the brink of death.
After laying waste to the final Lung city and bringing the war to a conclusion, Chunyan was quick to resign from his post. While the rest of his clan celebrated a hard fought victory, this phoenix quietly slipped away from their hidden kingdom and eloped with Fu Fong, seeking a quieter and more simple life.
He soon decided to set off on a journey to travel the world. Prior to the war, Chunyan had spent his whole life cooped up in the Fung's capital - and upon getting a taste of what the outside world was truly like, he'd developed an insatable urge to see what else was out there. Free from responsibility and with all the time in the world, he could wander around at his own pace, taking in the sights and watching as the world changed around him.
Some centuries later, Chunyan stumbled across a solitary dragon egg buried - or perhaps hidden - within the ruins of a former Lung city. His first instinct was to destroy the thing, but then he remembered that his duty had long been fulfiled. While there was no need to kill a defenceless being, he felt as though it would be better to take it into his own possession to monitor. If anything, it could serve as an emergency ration in a pinch. Unfortunately the egg hatched sooner than anticipated and Chunyan suddenly found himself with a hatchling in his arms...

Chunyan's mentee and well... one could call her his daughter too.
For the most part he leaves her to her own devices, only acting as a guide on their journey around the world. He will lend a hand when she bites off more than she can chew... as well as give her a big lecture afterwards.
His oh-so-loving husband.
Though it often seems that Chunyan is impassive towards the fox, he dearly loves Fu Fong and sees him as loyal lifelong companion. He's the home that he knows he can return to once he grows tired and weary of his travels.
A passing acquaintance.
Chunyan has no issue with Yanyi's presence as they're Fu Fong's friend.
An... old friend.
Hiuying was one of his companions back in the Capital that fought alongside him during the great war. While he hasn't forgotten the friendship and loyalty she gave him back then, it's incredibly awkward meeting her face to face after vanishing for a few centuries without a word.
