► Travis
Travis is a guy who is more or less harmless.
Appearance
- He's got this mischievous, long looking face that manages to make him look more youthful combined with the rest of his body...
He's also the spitting image of how Node (his biological father) looked in his youth... but only looks-wise. Lucky for Travis, he's not too hairy like his pops
- Jet-black short hair, it's reminiscent of the 90s white guy surfer hairstyle
brah.
- His eyes are a very pure dark brown.
- As much as he tries, most of his clothes seem to fit him poorly. He sticks to a flimsy, thin hoodie, t-shirts with no graphics on them, old jeans he's probably had too long, and a pair of flat-footed sneakers. Everything looks like it drapes off of him, even when sized correctly.
He may or may not be allergic to wearing nice, expensive clothes. lol
- Travis is expressive and quick to react to things in, usually, a bashful or excitable manner (depending on how well he knows the person). It's not uncommon for him to grow rosy-cheeked in enthusiasm or shame.
He isn't much for moving a lot while talking, but he is very touchy-feely and forgets that other people have differing levels of 'personal bubbles'... He's one of those people that will reach out to touch while laughing, poke and shake a shoulder when vying for attention, smack in fake-indignation/flirting, etc.
- Even though he is expressive and clear, he usually is seen smiling... But that's mostly because he's a happy chappy
Personality
- He's a
bit more introspective than he lets on, trying his best to be polite and keep his manners in check at all times, as most people are kind and receptive with him. But more often than not, the kid has an opinion on lots of things, and quickly forms most of them by initial impressions or assumptions off of impressions.
- Has a bad case of doubting himself where his actions are concerned. He's very eager to please-- and with these two traits, it makes him a good follower, never threatening to those in lead, or those that try to hold something over him. He will give in, it's just a matter of time.
- Often is very wishy-washy/flip-floppy. Depending on outsider intervention or considering a situation further, he can change his once-staunch opinion in no time flat with little remorse or shame.
- If it isn't obvious yet, Travis wears his heart on his sleeve and more often than not he won't be afraid to admit to being full of emotion (to the right person). He doesn't see it as a weakness.
Though, depending on company, he will be mum on his personal life and thoughts-- if you ask politely or demand it of him (even if you're a stranger), he'll spill the beans pretty quickly.
- He's not necessarily judgmental, he's just inquisitive and clueless, which leads to him asking questions that may or may not seem harsh or rude. In fact, the opposite could be said toward him-- he's pretty quick to cast aside any initial judgments he has, or will disregard rumors once he's around company and gets his own perspective. He sees the good in everyone!
And speaking of seeing the good in everyone, he will also be the quickest to start defending and making excuses for others if he truly cares for them.

- Just a teensy bit dumb. Just a bit. lol He of course doesn't think that about himself, but then again he's not really a 'self-conscious about his image' type.
- He seems a bit more on the paranoid side, unsure of himself or his actions, rarely putting up too much of a fight or speaking out for himself, and is known to have a bit of trouble finishing his sentences if distracted or embarrassed of what he wants to say.
BIO
Travis' life had always been on the better side of things, not that he himself realized it. His family made sure he wanted for not, in the physical and mental department... He grew up in a tidy, decent enough suburban neighborhood, near picture-perfect in how everything played out: Travis had a revolving door of friends and family to spend time with and learn from. And from time to time he even figured out some of life's smaller lessons on his own, scraping knees and breaking a bone here and there, getting into arguments with bullies and living to tell the tale, failing and passing public school classes in equal measure.
To add on further to his daze of normalcy, even college was a blur for him-- his degree is in the overlying branch of social sciences, and he mostly finished it up at his mother's behest. And as such, Travis doesn't really know what he wants from what he's gained over the years, much less knowing what he's capable of.
However, his biological father was something he recently learned about. A few months after his 21st birthday, after his mom- finally, waiting for years- told him the guy's name, he put his 'own life' on hold to meet the man. It was a darned good place to start before getting ahead on all this what's my purpose stuff that everyone was going on about.
What really ended up happening is that he maybe kinda sorta got stranded out near Node's place and decided to just welcome himself at mach speeds into Node's life and figure out the rest from there...
With his idyllic, pleasant upbringing and unparalleled naivete, Travis cannot help himself in thinking that the rest of his life will surely turn out as perfectly as his youth had!

FAMILY
Being raised by his mother, Annalise, and her husband (his step-father), Bill, Travis didn't know until he was sixteen years old that he was only related to his mom. Whoops!Regardless, Travis really loves his parents and he is grateful for their unending support. There's rarely a time they fuss with him, and vice versa. In some ways, their support can be seen as coddling. He's all for it, though (lol).
Tano (FATHER)
[adding on to link descriptions]"Node", as Travis' father likes to be called, was a bit of a surprise-- but then again, no matter what Travis found in his searches, he would've been shocked... It's just... Well, Node is kind of mean. Okay, really mean. Travis isn't too used to being held further than arm's length when in the presence of family. It's okay, though: Travis may not be patient, but he is magnanimous in his affections, and willing to give Node whatever time he needs to see that his biological son didn't turn out half bad-- and that he's very good at giving hugs!
They get along decent enough considering the circumstances that pushed them to bond further. Sometimes Travis says things that are out of line by Node's standards, but, in a way, Travis has a feeling that's the kind of attitude Node would prefer, and the boy never feels out of place when inserting himself into Node's business.
Yoto (HUSBAND)

Yoto is... Entirely special to Travis. Even before they knew one another so intimately, Travis remembered being awed by the yakuza's openness. He IS exactly like he acts, and that's very refreshing to someone who doesn't have much experience with 'city life'-- hell, nobody was willing to help Travis when he first came into town, and he was practically begging on the street! Yoto has been the only person to show kindness and to teach the boy that you can't judge a book by its cover. It also helps immensely that Yoto quickly displays how trustworthy, strong, and affectionate he is without compromising his cool guy image. To Travis, Yoto is the perfect definition of a badass! It blows his tiny lil' mind to think he has tamed such a wild guy in any capacity... And, frankly, he has quite a bit of sway with Yoto's actions, but not nearly as much as he likes to imagine.
For what interests them both, physically, they suit each others needs like a hand in glove-- and the rest falls into place neat enough. Travis would do absolutely anything for Yoto, with Yoto, and on Yoto's behalf. He believes in the yakuza fully and considers him his 'better half' despite his, erm, illegal line of work.
Trivia
- He really likes wandering about, taking photos, and just soaking up mother nature. With him not having a job, he can't afford to spend enough time out and about though.
He is the biggest fan of road trips, and if he wasn't so lazy, he would absolutely run a blog about all this kitschy shit. Honestly, half of the reason why he was so gung-ho about meeting Node is knowing he had to go on a long ass drive to get there! - Voice claim is Grady Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote-- just slightly more high pitched in tone. (and if I could find a proper example I would link, but alas...)
Funny enough, he kind of acts like Grady, too... But that's a happy coincidence haha. - Travis rarely has an appetite, rarely eats all three meals a day, and doesn't like to snack. He.. Somehow retains enough fat on that tiny body to keep people from worrying about him.
- Even though his facial hair doesn't grow in fast enough, he habitually shaves every morning after lazily tossing himself out of bed.
He leaves behind his barely-growing-in sideburns! He thinks they make him look SO badass (lol) - I made him on a whim to sort of drive Node into becoming more mature. Node was an old guy for sure, but beyond his bad temper, not much made him seasoned/experienced-- I already have Johnny for that man-child aesthetic! lol. So... For Travis, what ended up being a secondary character thrown in for a development point turned into his own thing.
Anyhoo, this is all to just explain that his name was given on a whim as well, trying to make him sort of second-fiddle to the egregiousness that is Node's identity and name itself haha. He was just supposed to be this average, humdrum young man! And... He pretty much is! :') But that's why I love him. - His middle name is Ethan, to complete the trifecta of averageness that is his name...
