Colton Fairchild's Links
While Colton and Des may be at odds with one another when it comes to worldview, Colton's respect for Des' opinions keeps their acquaintanceship comfortable and unproblematic. Colton enjoys casual discussions about ideologies because they love to hear about and understand different values and methods, but is happy to change topics if they sense any reluctance from Des.
Familiar with one another only through mutual friends, Des rarely sees Colton aside from parties and the odd friendly get-together. Des is fond of Colton's pleasant attitude and down-to-earth demeanor, and feels he can make himself comfortable in Colton's company.
Knowing about Max's personal life and how often he suffers in private, Colton strives to provide Max with sanctuary through their friendship. Colton is more than willing to support Max in any way they can, whether that be through opening their home to Max or simply by giving him much-needed time to talk and be listened to. They often fret over Max's health and safety, and take care to call him when they can't visit.
Max looks up to Colton like another sibling. In his mind Colton is what Max would like to be someday, comfortable in themselves, and working through life's problems at their own pace. He enjoys time spent with Colton, especially when he's needing a break from his home life, even if it's just for a few hours. They've tried painting Colton before but the range of colours makes things....Difficult
Although Colton doesn't remember Ezri from their younger years, they respect him as much as they'd respect anyone else that endured and survived the same childhood atrocities as they did. Colton only sees Ezri on occasion nowadays, but their interactions are always of the friendly variety.
Ezri remembers Colton for a reason he'd rather not explain to anyone, and likes to pretend that particular memory doesn't exist. However, his more recent interactions with Colton are much better, and in particular he enjoys reminiscing about the one time they rescued Max from Raven and tried to leave the Bird in a dingy motel in the middle of nowhere.
Raven is no friend of Colton's. He has proven himself time and time again to be cruel and destructive--attributes that Colton is not willing to embrace. Colton struggles to treat Raven with their customary impartiality, and though Colton is wary and distrusting of Raven they are willing to tolerate his company for Max's sake. If Raven ever becomes comfortable around them, they hope to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him about his behavior.
Although Colton has never dealt with him in a violent or threatening manner, Raven still loathes Colton's presence and tries to avoid them as much as possible. Colton's primary concern for Max and secondary concern for Raven are seen as intrusive and meddlesome, and they only serve as a catalyst for guilt. Even worse is the fact that Colton has the resolve to tell Raven his behavior is unacceptable.
