Aiyana was left an orphan alongside her elder brother at a young age, but that doesn’t seem to play a part in her growth. She’s every bit carefree and cheerful as any other girl her age. Despite that, she’s a loner deep down that doesn’t make friends very easily- and she’s quite okay with that! She’s got a deep hunger for knowledge and can throw herself into her interests and hobbies with no problem.
Her interests honestly revolve completely around the paranormal. She’s constantly playing with Ouija boards or reading up on ghosts and the like. Though Aiyana can be quite strange, she’s a good girl deep down and rather easy to get along with, if you really try!

Aiyana is a stubborn girl, who's grown up doing what she wants, when she wants. It’s fair to call her spoiled, but really, she tends to not step on others toes and stay in her lane. A loner at heart, but isn’t going to push people away if they really want to get to know her; though she prefers interesting people! Aiyana is also awful at keeping her emotions hidden; you always know how she’s feeling. She’s also got a healthy interest in romance and the sexual aspect of it, letting her mind wander sometimes. It’s embarrassing, and the intrusive thoughts about her friends pop up more often than she cares to admit!
CARING
Aiyana loves deeply, and holds those near her tight. There’s an obvious divide between strangers and friends; you’ll never question if you’re friends with her. She also shows her heart more often to those she cares for.
STUBBORN
When Aiyana has made up her mind about something, it is near impossible to shake her resolve. At times she can fall into a gloomy lull, which makes her hard to approach. It’s easier to work with her than against her.
PEVERTED
Aiyana never voices or acts on her intrusive, perverted thoughts. She thinks she’s a very typical, healthy 15 year old girl! She does feel guilty that she can have inappropriate thoughts about her friends… but at least she’s never told them she does!
TUNNEL VISION
Aiyana can focus HARD on a single task. In some instances this works in her favor; other times she can lose sight of the big picture and ultimately lose the goal. On the other hand, she’ll get that task done, and she will NOT give up easily.

Backstory · · ·
Aiyana was born into the Tsuchida household; the younger of two siblings. To the world, they were a devout and loving family. Though they're blurry memories, she recalls her parents dropping her brother, Kei, off at her aunt's house and the three would visit a shrine. These visits meant very little at the time- she didn't realize how important they truly were. But they were welcome visits, a moment of solitude from the yelling at home.
The tranquility of the Tsuchida household was shattered as the love slowly soured. Arguments would escalate, the sound of dishes shattering and items being knocked around would pierce the silent nights. It was easy to tune out when she'd listen to the stories Kei would bring with him- about ghosts, ghouls, demons and the dark underbelly that we do not know. Little Aiyana was captivated by this, and would attempt to read the complicated books he'd bring home.
When Aiyana was 7, her life would completely change. The memory is locked away, buried deep in her heart. But it happened all the same; her mother viciously attacked Kei and then her father, before ending her own life in Aiyana's bedroom. Miraculously, Kei would survive his wounds- and from there they were whisked away.
Their aunt took legal guardianship of Kei and Aiyana- raising them as her own. "From now on, your surname is 'Sakurai', okay?" Little Aiyana blankly nodded, "There's bad people that like the surname 'Tsuchida.' So you mustn't let them know that it's you, okay?" Those words her aunt spoke lingered in her heart. Aiyana would tell the world her last name was Sakurai, but the strangeness of the situation never let her forget that she's a Tsuchida at the end of the day.
Now, Aiyana is a teenager, on the cusp of her 16th birthday. Her interest in the occult has only spiked- and truly is the one thing that keeps her going. Each day passes by rather uneventfully- until she finds herself at the gate of a shrine she feels she's seen before. Despite it all, fate can't be broken after all.
The Spirit World · · ·
Aiyana entered the Spirit World for the first time only rather recently. It is a world where the dead rule; where souls go once life has been snuffed from their bodies. When one who is in tune with the Spirit World sleeps, they can be granted access to this deeper reality. In this world, time flows differently. And there’s a very real fear of dying in your sleep.
It is here that she meets the plucky cast who will become her friends. Together, they fight off ghosts and demons, wondering how to sever the ties that bring them here. Aiyana though- she realizes something deeper is wrong with her. Something keeps pulling her back- like she was meant to be here.
Aiyana’s power in the Spirit World is portals. It gives her no true battle prowess, but it’s a great aid for her mobility as well as helping her friends in that world. It would also seem at times, the ghosts and demons of that world follow her. Sometimes they attack, other times they just want to be in her presence.

A small, humble shrine that seems to be an alternative religion. Their numbers are small, but it appears like any other place of worship. Aiyana can’t help but acknowledge that it’s definitely a cult, but it does not appear anything malicious is going on. In fact, the lead priest, Yukio, is probably one of the softest, gentlest people she’s met. It’s difficult for her to see such polite people being part of something dark that is more akin to say, Aum Shinrikyo or Jonestown.
Aiyana is unaware the dark diamond-shaped birthmark on her back- a blemish she completely forgets she has- has forever linked her to this small shrine. It's clear the Miyata family- the family that runs the shrine- has a keen interest in her. But unfortunately, Aiyana cannot figure it out. Instead, she's too focused on her budding friendship with the youngest sibling duo: Chika and Yukio.

He’s a hard ass and quite strict, but she can acknowledge it’s from a place of love. He’s a stable rock who never falters, and somebody for her to count on. He’s a big brother and father all wrapped up in one.
She gets along great with him! Though he can be overprotective of her around boys.
Dakota may be a few years ahead of her, but the two get along great! Dakota’s carefree attitude helps ease Aiyana, and the two gossip and giggle like- well- two schoolgirls. Aiyana finds it easy to talk with Dakota- and it helps that Dakota is quite honest with Aiyana, too.
Aiyana would call her her best friend, 100%. Dakota is the person she trusts the most, outside of her own family!
A priestess who works at the shrine, but Aiyana finds so endearing! The polite girl has glimmers of an excitable, adorable girl! Chika is one of the first friends she's made that's her age; alongside Chika's gentle nature, and it's easy to see why Aiyana wants to talk to the poor girl's ear off.
Though Chika is under a strict household, Aiyana doesn't think it's troublesome to visit her new friend! In fact, it's all fascinating and Aiyana thinks she's lucky to have such a kind guide to this strange religion.
Lino is one of the softest, kindest and most social people Aiyana has ever met! He's fully experienced what the world has to offer, and yet he continues to give his all in every situation. The two weren't terribly close at first, but Lino seems to find solace in Aiyana's solitude- almost as though he knows she won't spill any secrets he tells her. And for that, he's often quietly musing to her, trying to sort out his feelings.
Aiyana may be younger than him, but she likes to think she helps him work out his problems! He knows how much she's interested in love- even if she denies it- and so he'll often talk about his complicated feelings on attraction and sexual orientation.
Yukio is polite, gentle and reserved- a wall around him at all times. He seems to only talk about the shrine and is dedicated to it- basically, everything Aiyana typically wouldn't be interested in. However, there's something alluring about him that's captured her interest. Now, maybe, just maybe, it's that little schoolgirl crush sneaking up on her, but she can't seem to keep her gaze away. She constantly tries to befriend him, though feels shut out and ignored. Typically, she'd give up and never think about him again. So, why can't she now?
Aiyana's all too aware of her crush on him, and actively tries to deny it or shoot it down. She flip flops between trying to give him space and wanting to know him.
Unbeknownst to Aiyana, she's a mere vessel for the Devil Queen that's worshipped by the shrine. Growing up, Aiyana wasn't aware of this presence. The Queen never made herself known- very unlike the Demon King. Ever since finding the shrine- and more importantly, Yukio- the dark tinges of the past are creeping in. Sometimes Aiyana just knows things; and sometimes, to everybody's surprise, Aiyana says things without remembering she ever said them. The Devil Queen will very rarely take over Aiyana to push in the direction she thinks they need to go. This usually only happens in the Spirit World- usually.
Even though she knows this is a devil hiding in her mind, Aiyana can't feel scared of the Devil Queen. There's some sort of twisted kinship between them.
The unjust ruler of the Spirit World whose taken an uncomfortable interest in Aiyana. He's constantly lingering around her, whispering sweet things into her ear. To be his queen, to relinquish her human life and submit to him. Aiyana's aware this is a devil- on top of Yukio and Chika singling out Mazzik as the devil to avoid at all costs. He makes her uncomfortable, the way his fingers lace with hers or his putrid, warm breath tickling her ear as he whispers.
Aiyana both fears him and yet wants to stand up to him- there's a burning desire in her chest that knows he's her personal enemy.
