The older and more sociable of two brothers, Austen is optimistic and kind, but very strict in his morals; he would get into trouble when he was younger, but has since learnt to remove toxic people from his life for his and his family's sake.

Having grown up with only his mother and his brother—his father having left when he was seven—Austen always longed to fill the void that having a "broken" family left; he loved those he had, but always wanted more around him, and eventually got himself in with the wrong crowd.
In spite of this, Austen had always been very protective of Dai, even when they were young, always being able to tell when something was wrong, and very quick to try to rectify the problem. The same has always gone for his mother as well, who he will defend to the ends of the Earth.
