Dai is a quiet kid—very much the opposite of his older brother, Austen—and is sometimes seen as very antisocial, though those close to him know otherwise.

The absence of their father for the majority of their childhood and youth affected the brothers in different ways; whilst Austen became a social butterfly and, during his teenage years, got himself into some trouble with then-friends, Dai was very closed and inquisitive from a distance, talkative to only those he trusted unconditionally. These people were few and far between, namely, only Austen, and their mother, with very few others included in the list.
Their mother worked hard to keep the boys happy, healthy, and safe, ensuring they never went without; she was a single mother, but didn't mind at all, so long as she had her sons. She encouraged the two in their interests, and would always listen intently—even if she didn't share the same interests; Dai loves his mother very much, trusting her unconditionally, and always enjoying her company.
