Story

Born into a quite religious family of Mormons in America to already old parents granted Finchley - Finch for short - an amazing start in life. His mom and dad could be considered by some to be more elderly than other parents: so, they knew very little about the internet and its restrictions. When it came to them buying new technology for their darling only son, they set no boundaries. "As long as you do your homework and keep your grades high enough, you can do whatever you want with that device." That was understandable and respected by Finch himself... who discovered the power of the world wide web from his tiny little phone.

His powers showed pretty early in his life; whenever he'd lie in school about homework or answering a question, his teachers would believe him about 70% of the time, his parents too. It was a nifty little thing he'd do to get out of trouble. They just had to believe he did nothing wrong! However, he could never get away from religion, specifically that concerning the Latter-day Saints. He was absolutely hooked on the whole thing, despite sometimes forgetting names, events and dates and changing them with plotlines from pop culture...

Geese, pigeons and lizardfolk

While his school life would be described as unremarkable, his digital life was surely nothing of the sort. Finchley loved reading stories from a young age and the internet definitely delivered everything he could ever desire. His favourite things to read were ghost stories, then myths and legends and eventually conspiracies! Gullible as he was he'd believe all of it. Even the most poorly made Youtube video about underground gnome populations would stir his imagination, so much so in fact that he'd start promoting these stories in his social media.

Harmless, right? Well... actually... Unbeknownst to him, his status as Faith made things a tad more serious. A select few would start believing what he promoted. Some would even ask Finchley if he knew something about the world they didn't know! So, he started thinking. Then, he started writing. A lot. From fairies to aliens to hidden civilisations to current politics. Despite knowing almost nothing about many of the topics he chose, he wrote and wrote and people believed him.

Sometimes, he'd be invited to parties around the neighbourhood by his parents' friends and he'd start talking endlessly about "the hidden wonders and dangers of the world"! By the time he'd left, the whole neighbourhood had followed him on all platforms. Honestly, what a life.

The FBI, a cover-up and the TRUTH

Just as he was returning from school, grinning to himself about persuading his teacher not to grade him badly on his half-assed fictional "history report of the 1990s", Finchley came across some strangers stalking his front door. Before he was able to scream "FINALLY. THE FBI CAME TO GET ME-", a man known as "Memory" interrupted him. He, "Reason", "Language", "Sense" and "Imagination" had come to recruit Finc- "Faith" to find the "truth". The truth? What Finchley had been looking for all this time?? How... INTRIGUING!

And so, this insufferable gremlin joined their cause to find the truth. Talking his parents into it wasn't hard, he was "Faith" after all! Sadly the cult leader had to depart from the great America; but that was fine! Finchley'd get to see the world and unravel all its mysteries with these weird dudes!

All of the Pillars-- or Bastards of Knowledge had settled to meet regularly in specific spots so they could figure out what their purpose and goal should be. Secret meetings! As if they were an organisation or something! Who thought up of that genius plan??

A kidnapping, a conspiracy and the murder of Freedom

However, the time had come when the government had figured it all out. In an attempt to squander their freedom, some guys in bird masks - maybe pigeons ARE the source of ALL EVIL AFTER ALL! - kidnapped all of them into an unknown location.

Waking up in this huge chunk of an apartment space, he was determined to find out the perpetrator and neutralise them with his extensive knowledge. So, whilst everyone was trying to find their bearings, he was hunting for the one responsible, opening and exploring all available rooms. Faith was finally useful for once; his cuckoo behaviour brought the remaining Pillars of Knowledge right to him. "EVERYONE! HOSTAGES!"

Design Notes

  • He is a human with light skin.
  • He has rowdy red hair that typically falls and covers the right (our left) side of his face. Other than two distinct bangs hiding the ears and long spiky ends that fall right before his shoulders, he has a cowlick right at the top. When he wears his cap (which is pretty much always) his cowlick peeks out of the back panel hole.
  • His face is triangular in shape.
  • His eyes are big, round and green in colour with noticeable irises.
  • His eyebrows are long and thin, whereas his nose is stubby and square in shape.
  • He has shark teeth because he's a little scoundrel.
  • He's short and stubby but healthy enough in terms of body type.
  • His fashion style is casual and practical in various green and white hues. Bags, caps, belts and watches are things he'd definitely put on to complete the look of a young adventurer.
  • His item is a phone with a green case (and an alien design on the back).
  • His default outfit is a bright green polo shirt in combination with a white backpack and dark green fanny pack. He also wears a green "Believe" cap backwards, green shorts, short green socks and white-green strap shoes.

  • aliens

Dislikes

  • most adults
  • arguments
  • aliens
  • Faith's representative colour is green.
  • He might have been your local neighbourhood cult leader without realising it.
  • This kid is a demon, a gremlin, a scoundrel; and I absolutely love him for it.
  • He believes in too many things, which usually leads to him being a walking talking contradiction.
  • He has multiple facebook, reddit and twitter accounts.
  • Seriously, his phone has a ridiculously large battery life (up to 7 days)! He can also almost always find interet signal, wherever he may be.
  • He has created and most importantly popularised many different kinds of conspiracy theories: from fake pigeons to a certain company owner being a lizard and/or android. And aliens. Of course.
  • He actually changed his parents' minds about taking him to become a Mormon apostole. However, he still knows all the books "by heart".
  • He does "pranks" sometimes, which is him trying to show one of his theories is based (in truth).
  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DROP THE ENERGY DRINK-
  • He owns various bags to put his "emergency equipment" inside; that can include polaroid cameras, old recording devices, a swiss knife that he doesn't know how to use--
  • HELL YEAH HE HAS A THEME SONG! IT'S what exactly were you expecting-
  • The whole Mormon concept came from "Making things up again" by one of my favourite musicals. Yes, it's canon now.

Pillar of Knowledge: Faith

As Faith, Finchley has several abilities. He is a convincing guy, able to instill beliefs in other people just because he is the one presenting it. No matter how crazy the theory, how unrealistic it may be, he can make people believe it. This "Aura of Belief" works best on small children, old people or people of lower education. Unfortunately for everyone involved, his abilities can be strong enough to create a following of people, like a faith group. Many people see him as a secret agent brought forth by god or something, fighting for the truth to come out! It's good that Finchley hasn't realised this fact yet.

Fortunately, his status as Faith is pretty broad, which means he has a variety of beliefs. His memory is amazing, since he can recall all sorts of things "proving" each theory on the spot. However, he does tend to be forgetful when a new theory makes its way into his head. He is easily gullible and can believe many things from religion to government secrets to the existence of Atlantis. Because of that, people who are more likely to believe one theory instead of a conflicting other will do just that.

Item: Smartphone

Every Pillar of Knowledge has an item that benefit them in some way. Finchley acquired his smartphone from his parents at the tender age of 10. Items always seem to be randomly selected, so he had no clue that phone was aiding him in his epic conquest.

It's terrible to think that the phone doesn't in fact help him uncover the reality of the world, but leads him to learn all about crazy theories. He never cared about their legitimacy or proof or evidence; other people make it up for him. As long as he's able to preach about being "pro-vaxx because vaccinations give you superpowers" on his social media, he's happy. Little does he know that his social media platforms are a more effective breeding ground for cults and polarisation. With a neverending internet connection and a long lasting battery life, who knows what this bastard can do?? ...Oops?

Relationships

13377325?1673266186 Memory  - Head of the FBI

Memory is the head of the organisation; typical since he doesn't talk that much. He's all mysterious and dresses up like the crows on the complex, obviously hiding that he's actually a pigeon-man hybrid. He knows too much and doesn't want to endanger all of them, that's noble. But he won't be able to keep that up for long...

8810669?1681480768 Reason  - Offended Millenial

Reason? Reason??? Bruh, is this girl okay? What're all these "counter-arguments" about his alien-talk? Who cares about counter-argument when ALIENS ARE OUT THERE?! She preaches just as much as he does but without the style! They could work together to find about the truth but- but she doesn't care! Why does she need to get so offended too??

8767364?1645063803 Language  - Best friend [derogatory]

Language is one of the few people that actually has the ability to communicate - good for him! However, he's boring to an unreasonable degree, especially since he always glosses over all Finchley's brilliant rants about the truth of the universe. Sad, sad, it's so sad... they could've become great friends if he only just listened to him! Or didn't try to steal his phone!

8786017?1651786418 Sense  - Technically a Doomer, but high

Sense is just a cool dude. Finchley doesn't know what he's taking, apparently he's not allowed to diminish the stock either. Sad, because this guy has the best ideas when he talks to him. He never talks about the "real-life" stuff - whatever that means! Honestly, he can be a real source of inspiration for his post ideas.

14167046?1641255738 Imagination  - Idol

Imagination is Finchley's muse; or, they would be, if anyone ever listened to him! They. Sketch. Really pretty things. Finchley keeps passing post-it notes under their room with really detailed descriptions of otherworldly creatures; sometimes he even appends it with a crude sketch. Imagination drew some of them once. Now they're on Finchley's wall of fame™.

8776134?1653066877 Intuition  - Best Friend [complimentary]

This girl was exploring the apartment complex grounds, the warzone, like he was! She must be a survivor of the biggest most awful most tragic event in human history; their kidnapping! She's his friend now, they're having soft tacos later! SHE unlike SOME OTHER PEOPLE likes to hear what he has to say and accompanies him on most his hijinks.

13377297?1635938257 Emotion  - Edgy Egirl

Along with Intuition, Emotion also appeared in the apartment complex. Apparently, she lives here. HOSTAGE??? They wanted to use her as bait so their group would betray their morals and come to a secluded, cut-off area such as this one! Wait. Do they all live in Area 51? IS THIS ALIEN MIMICKING OUR CUSTOMS BY LOOKING LIKE A HOT EGIRL?!
