Once she gains her trust, she becomes more open, more talkative, more comfortable. She shows her true colors around the people she likes and appreciates every kind gestures. Despite her appearing to be rude all the time she just likes to tease people and throw jokes around.

History

Carr never really got to know her parents. All she knew about herself is that she is from Canada, but somehow ended up in Night City. She spent almost her entire life in an orphanage fighting for her life.
Orphanage Carr was put in was known for children going missing and never being found again. Kids went in, disappeared after a while, and they never heard about them ever again. As a very anxious kid, she had trouble defending herself, but was guarded and taken care of by Ezra - a kid a few years older than her, who protected everyone who needed to be. They were really close to each other and eventually treated themselves like real siblings. They were all they had at this point.
Eventually, as Carr turned 12, she learned where all the missing kids vanished, as she got kidnapped by scavengers. Initially they wanted to sell her organs, but after realizing she's an albino they decided to keep her for longer (as a 'rare trophy' of some sort) and try to teach her how to take out organs and cybernetics from bodies. Carr, having no choice but to follow their plan not to get killed, quickly adapted to the new situation and throughout the years became one of their best and most valuable pawns, taking out everything with little to no damage. They treated her like a proper part of the team, but contrary to everyone she did not get paid at all. Her payment was being able to stay alive.
When she was about 13 years old, her health issues started to slowly pop up. Her joints started to hurt and pop out of place frequently, she felt weak every day and had stomach issues that ended up with vomiting and fainting spells every few days. No one bothered enough to check her health out, so she tried her best to take care of herself, not knowing what was wrong; she bandaged her joints to get them stabilized and made finger splints from a thin wire. Eventually, a very serious injury left her with dislocated elbow, and scavengers made a decision to cut her arm off completely and replace it with a prosthetic, even though the initial injury did not need it in the first place. Eventually, they replaced one of her eyes, too, and took one of her kidneys out.
Even though she was obedient and followed their orders, she was very untrustful and wary of everyone, even becoming aggressive if she felt unsafe. She got into a lot of trouble because of this, but never changed her behavior, as it was the only thing that kept her alive.
Eventually, as two mercenaries were infiltrating their hideout, Carr managed to snuck in to them and harassed them into taking her with them, or else she will alarm the whole hideout about their visit. Mercenaries agreed if she helped them find something. After they secured the item they all left the hideout. She then revealed that she is sick and needs help, and her new two companions, who happened to be V and Ash, took her to Viktor Vector's clinic to see what's up.
After thorough tests at the clinic it was revealed she has a type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that was responsible for her joints issues and pernicious anemia that made her weak and vomit regularly. Viktor quickly prepared her a treatment plan to keep her healthy and let her work with him and Ash to repay for all the meds she was offered. Carr agreed knowing she has no choice, but quickly adapted to the new situation and found friends among clients visiting the clinic regularly. Her new home became couch in Misty's flat, and her new family consisted of her, Viktor, Ash, V and V's friends.
As the time went by she looked and felt healthier, it was easier to manage her faulty joints and pain, and fainting spells started to be more and more rare. She regained her strength and was able to do more and more things, even tinkered with her prosthetic to create an internal port-a-cath mechanism inside of it to administer her meds easier and faster. Throughout the time Carr befriended Ash and realized they have a lot in common and get along very well. They started going out together after work, played with faulty or old electronic parts that they found at the clinic and tried to do something out of them. They both enjoyed their time together so much they eventually became a couple and now are supporting each other through everything. It's not always ideal, as they both have their own demons to deal with, but it's certainly easier not to face them alone.
Scavengers, angry she managed to get out, started tracking her down and trying to catch her, unsuccessfully; she either managed to run away on her own or had somebody to protect her with her at all times. They never gave up, though, and it led to some bloody scenes with scavengers getting neutralized one by one.
Carr's illnesses, even with proper care and meds that worked, slowly started to progress yet again. She became weaker and had trouble with breathing and constant panic attacks out of nowhere. Further testing showed that the type of EDS she has is cardiovascular and one or her heart valves got damaged, therefore causing the symptoms and messing with her body. Operating the valve was possible but dangerous in her condition, so they decided to do a transplant instead and replace the heart with a cybernetic one. The surgery was so expensive her friends decided to gather money for her to have it done in a hospital instead of a clinic, and weeks later she underwent the transplant with no complications. Her stay in hospital lasted for one month, during which she regained her strength and learned to live with a mechanical heart. Unfortunately, scavengers managed to track her down there, too, but she never got to know it; her friends made sure to keep her comfortable and not worry her about it. Eventually, they never hurt her, but some of them ended up being killed.
During the whole ordeal with her health and even earlier, she started training on a shooting range with Pepe - person who eventually became her father. At first Carr was afraid of him, because he was big and always looked angry, but after they both warmed up to each other they realized they get along really well. She enjoyed Pepe's company and he seemed to feel the same, they eventually started seeing each other every other day to train or just sit together and watch TV. Pepe started to become more protective towards her and she felt safe having him next to her, and eventually she entered Pepe's workshop with adoption papers. Pepe agreed without hesitation and a few days after the transplant they received a positive news that their application was accepted.
Now, Carr moved out to June and Randy's flat and finally has her own bed, is slowly healing from the surgery and trying to catch up with the childhood she never had by doing things she always wanted to do and spending time with her new found family. She has big plans for the future she wants to fulfill no matter the cost.
