Takai Reikon was a kind, gentle soul, a great listener who was always there for support and encouragement. He was welcoming to any and all so long as they were pure of heart and had no interest in labels of any kind such as alliances. Takai was quiet and would never harm another soul. He was a calm, quiet authority figure who was always reasonable. But this was before the agony of his losses and the pressures of life crushed him. Takai become withdrawn, reclusive, and angry. His rage was insatiable and he would often attack inanimate objects and small animals to rid himself of it. He became disillusioned and detached from reality, believing himself to be unworthy of life and was therefore doomed to misery. His own paranoia ate away at him while depression consumed him. Takai was never good at handling stress and it ultimately broke him. His kind, warm personality was crushed by the weight of mental illness and trauma and he emerged, raw and broken, before deciding that he had had enough of life's cruelty.

He was the third child born to Winter Solstice and Blue Ice. His creation was one of lust and to prove to the couple that they loved each other dearly. He was conceived just before his mother and sister, Forsythia, were stolen by Tsunami. However, his mother carried him to term in Dark Woods and Tsunami never showed up to collect them. His childhood was stable for the first few weeks, but things soon turned ugly when Ice began to turn on his mate. His mother was therefore away rather often and his older sister, Forsythia often watched over him. He was stung by the rejection of his other sister, Tranquility, as she was jealous of the care that their parents gave him instead of her. Despite these events, he remained a high-spirited young colt and tried to be optimistic even though times were tough.

He was present when a stallion named Enraged Pressure tried to claim Dark Woods as his own. His mother, Tanwen, and his older sister and caretaker all tried to fight off the stallion, but the huge stallion managed to dodge all of their attacks and made his way to Takai. He threatened the young colt's life if they did not back down. It was in this moment that Takai realized his mortality and watched his mother struggle with the instinct to save him even though it would result in his death. The three mares gave in to Enraged Pressure. Takai looked on this as a definitive moment in his life, the moment when he realized that he wanted to protect others like his mother had done for him.

He worked on trying to become a good leader after then. Enraged Pressure backed off when Blue Ice returned to the herd and things seemed to settle down only for Tranquility and Rhew - Takai's half-sister - to disappear during a rainstorm. They were missing for months and months and all attempts to find them were in vain. When they finally returned, Takai did his best to try to help them. During this time, Takai began to grow close to another filly in the herd named Queen of Essense, whom his father had rescued from slavery. They became good friends and Takai started developing feelings for her.

It was a terrible time for the two of them when Essense was captured and raped by a stallion named Rune. Takai felt conflicted feelings toward her, not knowing how to help her. She soon gave birth to her first child at two years old and that only furthered the awkwardness between them. It drove them apart for a while and Takai began to fear that their friendship was broken beyond repair. But, this all changed when Essense confessed she had feelings for him and he told her the same. Things remained blissful between the two of them for several months and Takai tried to be a father to her child, Balamani, as best as he could.

After his parents stepped down from leadership of Dark Woods, Takai was elected the King, as he was the oldest heir interested in the position. Takai elected his mate, Essense, to be his Queen. It wasn't long before they were expecting their first child, a colt named Seether. Soon afterward, they had their first filly together named Viola. Takai then welcomed his brother, Nachikuitis to the position of King alongside him. However, it was soon discovered that Nachikuitis had been holding a slave within Dark Woods and had raped and impregnated her. Takai had decreed early on in his rule that there would be no slaves held in Dark Woods for as long as he was lead stallion and he punished his younger brother for this act. In remorse for it, Nachi decided to elect the mare, Nikita, as his beta mare.

However, not everyone was obeying Takai's decree, as not long afterward, Takai discovered Enraged Pressure - reinvited back to the lands by Blue Ice - was also keeping slaves. Takai, accompanied by his father, demanded that he get rid of the slaves and Enraged Pressure refused. Takai banished the stallion for refusing to listen, but his father overruled his statement by saying Enraged Pressure would always be welcome in Dark Woods. It was at this moment that Takai broke and he screamed at his father for never paying attention to him, eventually being reduced to tears. Takai very nearly left Dark Woods for good that day, and only stayed because of support from his brother, Nachi.

Things eventually settled down and Takai began to spend more time with his father. Takai and Essense were soon expecting a third child, a daughter they named Apala. Takai made some ventures to the Free lands during this time and he met a mare named Seirra, who had always desired a child of her own. Takai took her home to Dark Woods and asked Essense if he could grant Seirra's request. His mate agreed and soon Takai and Seirra were expecting. Unfortunately, this happiness was not to last when Takai found her seemingly dead with triplets stirring around her. He was devastated by this and took in the three children - two sons named Haur and Hufen Fynydd, and a blind daughter he named Sarah in honor of her mother. Essense and Forsythia both helped to raise the orphaned children.

At this point, everything started going wrong for Takai. His mate, Essense, was stolen by his supposed ally, Sykota. Takai went after his mate and noticed his daughter, Viola had also gone after her mother. The three of them and Sykota argued over terms. Viola insisted that she was going to go in her mother's place and Takai refused to let either of them stay. Sykota decided to keep Viola and let Essense go and Takai realized he had no choice but to accept the offer, as Sykota was surrounded by guards. However, as the two of them were turning to leave, Sykota abruptly attacked Essense and raped her in front of Takai and their daughter, Viola. Takai was held back by Sykota's guards as the attack happened and additionally watched as his daughter lost one of her eyes. When Sykota was through, he let Essense go and kept Viola. Takai and Essense were forced to flee without their child.

Driven mad with rage and grief, Takai discovered that Essense was pregnant from the attack and gave birth to a daughter named Rain Dance. Shortly afterward, Essense got pregnant again and she gave birth to a set of triplets - Katherine, Fox, and Impact. Takai was convinced that Viola was dead and made no effort to go and find her again, instead staying confined within Dark Woods to try to protect the family members that he still had. He secretly resented Rain Dance and hated himself all the more for it.

A few months afterward, his entire family was forced to flee to a new location after the previous Wild Equines was destroyed. During the travel, Takai's parents contracted a strange disease. His mother lived long enough to raise her last two children, Scarlet Ice and Winter Avenger, but she soon passed away. Blue Ice passed away only hours afterward. Takai was miserable at the loss of both of his parents and only hours afterward, he discovered that his daughter, Apala, had gotten violently ill after eating a poisonous plant, not having adjusted to the new territory. Takai watched over her as she grew too weak to move and eventually she passed away. Takai thought he would go mad with despair.

Nothing got better after that. His life became hellish as Haur, Hufen Fynydd, Seether, and Fox all went missing and were presumed dead. Takai gave in to the madness and became violent and volatile, attacking inanimate objects and lashing out at anyone who came near him. Katherine and Impact left home early to begin their own paths in life and to get away from their manic father, who they had become afraid of, and Sarah left to be with her mate. During this time, Takai hired a Helkaer assassin named Bloody Romance to make Sykota's life hell. However, it did not pan out as he wanted it to, and his frustration only grew. Takai was left alone with Essense, but even this was not meant to last. He found Essense one day, lying just in the border of Dark Woods, her breath shallow. He laid with her and whispered to her as the life slowly left her. He never knew what had taken her from him.

The next day, he buried her body and made the decision to commit suicide. He traveled to Kunipar Cliff, his mind more fresh and clear than it had been in years. It was a cruel twist of fate that his daughter Viola would witness his final moments in the mortal world - the daughter he thought was lost to him long ago. He never heard her screams as he took off at a run and leaped off one of the cliffs and was violently torn up by the rocks and eventually washed away by the ocean.

But even this would not bring him peace. When he awoke again, he found himself in the fiery pits of The Underworld, forever doomed to hell for taking his own life. The first meeting he attended was full of crass, vile creatures who wanted to bring nothing but pain and suffering to a world that already had too much. Takai was horrified and wanted no part in it and was brutually scolded by Caidas, Lord of the Underworld, for his cowardice. Takai refused to take a part in it and was sent down to the bowels of hell. After a time, his inactivity in the Underworld banished him to another plane of existence - the gray landscape of Asphodel. Unwilling to continue his existence in this state, Takai went into the Mists, never to be seen or heard from again.
