Lateralus was the fifth child born to Winter Solstice and Blue Ice. He was born during one of the most peaceful times in Dark Woods, when there was limited drama and family problems and a whole lot of foals being born. He hung a lot around his older half sister, Anesthesia and gained his dark, abusive attitude from her. He met a filly in the foal lands dubbed Faded Romance. He bullied her ceaselessly for being a Light and would have forced her home if it hadn't been for her parents saving her. He eventually claimed a mare named Bwgan at the age of two and they had a twisted affair that developed into love. He also claimed a Neutral mare named Klesa that he enslaved, determined to turn her into a Dark. Anesthesia assisted him in his task. It wasn't long before he was expecting a child with Bwgan and she gave birth to their first son, Recoil. Lateralus adored his son and it matured him greatly when he became a father. However, Bwgan suddenly disappeared for a couple of months, leaving Lateralus to have his sister, Forsythia nurse Recoil. Months later, Bwgan returned and became pregnant again. A stallion came upon the lands then, Cyclone and he told Lateralus of how his mother had abandoned him to die in his father's lands. Bwgan spat back at him and Lateralus realized how easily she could have abandoned Recoil. Bwgan gave birth to Thunderhead during the fight. Lateralus decided to banish Bwgan and she left, taking Thunderhead with her.

Afterward, Lateralus let Klesa go free and went on a rampage, fighting random horses in Kunipar Cliff and fathering a child by an unnamed mare that he wouldn't know about until much later. Lateralus witnessed the whole ordeal Takai Reikon went through when his mate was stolen by Sykota and Forsythia's ordeal with Slipknot. He met a mare named Emerald Nightmare and claimed her. She never showed up in Dark Woods, however. He then found out that his mother was pregnant again and then Wild Equines moved to a new location. He gained two new siblings, Scarlet Ice and Winter Avenger.

Takai Reikon decided to step down from King and went to Second in Command, which elected Lateralus to the King position. He claimed a vixen named Kyla and they bred in Silent Forest. However, she never showed up with the foal and he went to search for her. He had no luck finding her and led the herd normally, even as Nachikuitis disappeared and he had to run the herd on his own. Viola came to inform him of Takai's suicide and he called a herd meeting to mourn over his death. Not soon afterward, Nachikuitis's triplet children, Jaezonte, Disturbed Solstice and Jazmin came to Dark Woods. It wasn't long before Jaezonte challenged Lateralus for the crown, bringing many allies with him and several of his children. Lateralus welcomed the challenge, but it was dropped before the battle could be fought.

His sister Scarlet Ice and her friend Black Tide return to murder Nikita. He does not protest and lets them go. Satanico Tortura then challenged for Dark Woods and he fought, but lost the battle. The lands were renamed Carnevale Letale and he moved his herd under his friend Darla, who led Paradise Lost. Lateralus meets Absolem in Kunipar Cliff and is astonished to know that he is his son. However, Absolem declines the request to stay in Dark Woods. Lateralus adopted a colt named Spike and made him his adopted son. He then claimed Obscenity and grew close to her. They had a child together named Reth and later a second daughter named Tessen, but tragically, Obscenity died in the birth of her second daughter. Lateralus sent Spike to find a nursing mare for Tessen and he found Andromeda, a vixen that was a part of Radio Active's herd. She agreed to raise Tessen. Lateralus met a vixen named Hate that desired a foal and he provided her with one, a daughter named Jail Bird.

Caution, Andromeda's son, comes into Dark Woods telling Lateralus that his mother is going crazy after Radio Active's second disappearance. He coaxes Andromeda out of her bad mood and she gives birth to Formaldehyde. She agrees to stay in Dark Woods with her children for a while. Lateralus meets a vixen named Narcissa in Kunipar Cliff and helps her after she falls and injures her leg. She tells him she is searching for a home and he offers her to stay in Dark Woods. She stays for a while before being confronted by Predator and leaves, promising to remain an ally. Amun-Ra, a vixen that was a part of Jaezonte's harem comes to Dark Woods to find her sister Andromeda. She dies giving birth to Raksha and Lateralus agrees to raise the filly.

Horst Cabal comes to Dark Woods telling Lateralus about supplying a whorehouse. When Lateralus declines to take part of the deal, Horst tells him that he will face frequent battles until he agrees. Andromeda requests for a foal and her and Lateralus have a daughter named Astronomy. Another vixen by the name of Dementia comes to Dark Woods and he falls in love with her. After giving birth to Astronomy, Andromeda tells Lateralus that she loves him. Lateralus elects Andromeda his Beta Mare and Dementia his Queen. Lateralus meets Bwgan again in Kunipar Cliff with her daughter, Bloody Arson. He takes her daughter away from her and raises it in Dark Woods. Kyla also returns to Dark Woods and explains that she was taken away and that their child is dead. Lateralus is angry at her for accusing him of not looking hard enough and they get into an argument. However, a mudslide disrupts them after Lateralus gets caught in it. Kyla helps him and they become friends again.

Seirra comes to Dark Woods again, looking for Takai Reikon. Lateralus informs her that Takai killed himself. She asks for refuge in Dark Woods and he lets her stay. Lateralus meets Klesa again in the Unclaimed Hearts. Lucifer takes again Dementia when she is pregnant and Lateralus goes to rescue her from Carnevale Letale. He witnesses Lucifer killing Jaezonte. A vixen named Seventh Hells Ambience tells Lateralus that she will help smuggle her out and she does. Lateralus is grateful and allows her to live in Dark Woods. Dementia gives birth to twins, Andriana and Pyro. Willow Cabal and Carousel show up in Dark Woods and he makes Willow a member and Carousel the General. Ollivander Cabal challenges Lateralus for declining the whorehouse, but he leaves and Lateralus wins it by default. He is then stolen by Grimmoire. Spike fights for him, but loses and Lateralus goes to Carnevale Letale for a couple of months before returning. Seirra returns to Dark Woods in a sickly condition, telling Lateralus that her daughter Blodwen was taken as a slave by Castle/Camouflage. He agrees to rescue her.

Thunderhead comes to Dark Woods, intent on challenging his father. Lateralus agrees to the challenge, but it is dropped and Thunderhead is put under quarantine before becoming a member of Dark Woods. Lateralus successfully steals Jayden, Blodwen's son by Castle from his father. Dementia and Pyro disappear. Lateralus notices Andromeda is sick and tries to help her, but she refuses. They look for Oriax and find Andriana about to feed him to the wolves. They stop her just in time and Lateralus and her fight and he nearly kills her before banishing her and telling her to get the fuck out. Caution then comes to Dark Woods telling Lateralus that Andromeda was raped. Lateralus is furious and after the birth of Beta Decay, sends Carousel to the Helkaer lands to beat up one of their members to send them a message. Dementia then returns to Dark Woods with Pyro and confronts Lateralus and Andromeda. The two mares almost have a fight, but Lateralus stops them and they get into a heated argument. Lateralus tells Dementia to leave and she does. Kyla then returns to Dark Woods and they talk about her feelings for Incognito.

However, it seems that Kyla was more emotionally compromised than she had first displayed, because she challenges Andromeda soon after her chat with Lateralus for her position of Queen. Andromeda loses and is forced to leave for two weeks while pregnant with twins. Kyla never shows up afterward and Andromeda returns and has Schism and Sthenelus. Willow Cabal returns to Dark Woods and the two of them contemplate what could have happened to the mare during her year and a half disappearance. Lateralus then attends the Dark Herd Leader meeting hosted by Incognito with Andromeda.

He is then met by a stallion named Sand Man who requests for a subland. Lateralus grants him that. He is then confronted by his son, Thunderhead once more and the two get into a heated argument over trust and the lies that were left in the wake of his mother, Bwgan. Lateralus is then visited by Hail Romance and her son, Coal and the allows them into the herd. A newcomer by the name of Vladimir comes to Dark Woods and they give him a trial run. Andromeda calls a herd meeting for Dark Woods and they decide to step down and give Schism and Sthenelus the crown. Bwgan, the daughter of Lateralus's first mate came to Dark Woods intent on confronting Lateralus. However, she is sent on her way by Andromeda long before a true confrontation can happen. After that, Lateralus learns of the sudden destruction of Negrizaria and offers to shelter two members of it, Zela and her son, Zeus. He tentatively asks Zela what happens and she explains.

Tragedy strikes when Estelle escorts him to Andromeda and Sthenelus's lifeless bodies after they were savaged by wolves. Lateralus spirals into despair and barely eats, drinks or sleeps in the weeks after his mate and son's passing. Kyla comes back to Dark Woods to 'mend fences' and he tells her what happened. Lateralus then discovers that Kyla has gone to Romeo's side, his grandson Ulquiorra has gone to Romeo's side and that Estelle had been tricked and impregnated by Romeo. He is furious. What makes it worse is that he finds out that his son, Schism had gone out and done his own revenge by raping Kyla and getting her pregnant. Lateralus is enraged beyond belief and announces a herd meeting. He strips Schism of his position and exiles him, taking over Dark Woods once again. He then meets with Macy, who was his son Thunderhead's mate. She tells him of Thunderhead's death and Lateralus offers to help her raise their children and she accepts. However, a couple of weeks later, Thunderhead himself shows up in Lateralus's lands. Lateralus is once more enraged at the audacity of his son to fake his own suicide to get out of raising his children and tells him that if he decides to stay, he must stand up for himself, or he will get kicked out. Lateralus's daughter Reth, her mate Spike and their daughter Lashka then return to Dark Woods and Lateralus allows the two of them to take charge, as he's getting too old to run the herd properly, though he remains as beta stallion.

He meets Skye in the Free lands. He attends the herd meeting that Spike calls. He meets with one of his granddaughters through Thunderhead, Hazelnoot. However, one day he finally meets his fate. He hears the screams of his daughter, Reth, as she's giving birth, but something's gone wrong. The wolf pack has decided to take advantage of her situation. Lateralus rushes in to help defend her. Spike shows up as well. The two of them manage to fight the wolf pack off, but not without Lateralus sustaining life threatening injuries. He collapses, and is surrounded by Spike and Beta Decay as he passes on into the Afterlife, with Andromeda showing up to guide him to Utopia. Once in Utopia, he attends a herd meeting called by Lady Oderia and Lord Psychosocial. He is assigned to the Circle of Peace. Even with his death, he doesn't intend to slow down. Immediately, he begins to look for ways to solve problems and assist equines using his newly found abilities as a member of the Afterlife. He finds a mare named Hanna and cures her of her blindness. He hears Kyla's pleas for help and helps her recover from a vicious bear attack.

He meets with Fennore, another angel in Utopia and the two of them discuss things. He then meets with Andromeda and she tells him the news that she is now the new Lady of Utopia. He is estatic for her. She also informs him of his promotion to Seraphim - the Second in Command position of Utopia. Lateralus travels to Dark Woods and meets with Zela, who is also visiting Dark Woods. Lateralus goes to visit Karei - a daughter of his nephew, Jaezonte - her sister Tegwen, and Karei's son, Valdus. He tells them that they have a home in Dark Woods if they want, and freely offers information on his family when Karei inquires. He also hunts down a long lost daughter he thought to be dead named Jail Bird. He then attends a meeting of Utopia called by Tybolt and awaits Andromeda's arrival as the new Lady. However, she doesn't show up and instead, Rasa is crowned Lady of Utopia. Lateralus is distraught at Andromeda's disappearance, though it's not something he isn't used to. He continues to patrol the mortal realm and meets once more with his friend Skye that only recently moved into Dark Woods. He also meets again with his daughter, Jail Bird, to see how she is settling into Dark Woods. He also meets with one of Kyla's daughters, Karissa.

He meets with Fennore, a fellow angel in Utopia who asks him to watch over his daughter, Adina. However, during this time of turmoil in Utopia over finding a new Lord, he begins to lose sight of what he's doing, wondering who he is supposed to help and who he is supposed to leave alone, struggling with who is right and wrong now that he can see every point of view. He meets another fellow angel named Valefor, and they get along together rather well. He attends several more meets of Utopia, watching several Lords rise and fall while Rasa stays steady and strong. He meets with his granddaughter, Thundra, who tells him of the struggles she's having running a herd on her own at such a young age. Over time, Lateralus becomes closer to both Valefor and Skye and ends up fathering children with both of them. However, at this time, he also is convinced to father a child with Zela while she is under the control of a demon named Acacias, though he is not aware of it at the time. He eventually does find out and is horrified and embarrassed by what he did, and pledges himself to help Zela in any way she needs and also to get back at the demon that did this to her.

At the most recent Utopia meeting that he attended, Rasa and the new Lord, Venture, announce the Circles and their desire to see the positions filled. Lateralus decides to meet with the two of them to apply for the leader of the Circle of Kindness. The two of them approve his leadership and he is pleased to have a steady role in his life now with more structure than Seraphim. However, his happiness is short-lived because he is stolen shortly afterward by Artemisia herself and cast into Hell. Lateralus meets with the two leads of the Underworld and spits back whatever they throw at him. He even attends one of the meetings of the Underworld, taking care to avoid his half-sister, Anesthesia, who is also a resident. He is distraught at Rasa's loss in battle, at Leviathan also being stolen, as well as worrying over his family and the two pregnant mares he left - particularly Skye and Zela, who have no idea what happened to him. He spends several months in the Underworld in excruciating pain before he is sent back to Utopia, only to find that Rasa has been stolen and Venture has disappeared. Utopia is in disarray after this, but Rasa is eventually returned to Utopia and she begins searching for a new Lord. Lateralus arrives back just in time for the birthing of his child with Valefor - which turns out to be twins. A girl and a boy, both with Valefor's unique markings. They are named Evanska and Nakos. However, the next couple of weeks are rough as Lateralus tries to heal from the damage the Underworld caused, stricken by bouts of mania, depression, and anger. He seeks Rasa to see if she can help him, but finds her in a similar situation. The effects will only go away with time.

A few weeks later, Zela and Skye give birth to their respective children. Zela gives birth to twins - Garrick fathered by Lateralus, and Lisette fathered by Acacias. Despite her father, Lateralus is determined to become a part of Lisette's life and influence her. Skye's child is a filly they named Tsisana. Lateralus spends the majority of his time in the mortal world with Zela, Skye, and their children, as well as taking Evanska and Nakos to the mortal world to explore. He hears rumors of the fall of the Dark Royals during this time. Rasa then calls a meeting to announce she's chosen a new Lord and Lateralus is shocked to discover that it is none other than his adoptive son and former son-in-law, Spike. The meeting is rocky as Spike makes demands of the angels he's only just been introduced to and the angels berrate him for it. The meeting ends and Lateralus meets once again with Rasa and the two of them become intimate. Lateralus meets with both Spike and his long lost mate, Andromeda afterwards. He travels to the mortal plane to visit Skye and Tsisana and takes a journey through the Free lands before he leaves. While he's there, he runs into a mortal mare named Rowana. The two of them become intimate. Afterward, he returns to Utopia and meets a newly judged angel named Anasazi. He is then stolen once more by the Underworld, this time by a demon called Baelrune. Furious, he heads back to the Underworld to meet his captor. It's a demon named Baelrune and Lateralus is subjected to tortures beyond his imaginings while during his time in the Underworld. Eventually, Baelrune lets him leave and Lateralus returns to Utopia, battered and broken. He collapses near the border and is found by Rasa. Rasa eventually tells him that she's pregnant with his child and the two of them finally admit their feelings to each other. Two weeks afterward, he is visited by Rowana in Eden once more, who reveals that she is also pregnant by him. Shortly after that, Spike fights against Lethrblaka, the Lady of the Underworld and loses his battle. He is taken prisoner by the Underworld for two weeks. A couple of days before Spike's return, Shaman steals Anasazi and Rasa fights him to get Anasazi back. She succeeds in her battle and returns and Lat meets her, Spike, and Anasazi. Lat feel pressure on his shoulders with both of his leads exhausted and injured from their respective battles.

The war between the Helkaer and the Neutral Kingdom escalates, and Lateralus goes to meet with his daughter, Reth, only to find that Dark Woods had been burned down by the Helkaer. Reth tells him that Utopia did nothing to help her and Lat is enraged that Rasa did not step up to help while Spike was busy fighting the fires in Cooper Creek. His attempts to talk to Rasa go unanswered. He spends more and more time in the mortal plane helping his daughter and keeping tabs on his children while they clean up Dark Woods and eventually move back into the territory. Rumors go out of an all-out fight between the Helkaer and the Neutral Kingdom and Lateralus joins the fight alongside Reth, Linkin Park, and Vojorn. Unfortunately, the Neutral Kingdom loses the battle and they are put under Helkaer occupation. Lateralus returns to Utopia, exhausted and healing from his injuries. Shortly afterward, Spike calls a meeting for Utopia to scold them all for not helping and to make plans to help them now. Rasa attends the meeting, but Lat is too furious with her to speak to her now and waits until after the meeting is over. However, Lat doesn't get the chance to speak to her as she's stolen to the Underworld once again by Artemisia. He's furious at the situation and wants to challenge for her freedom. He meets with Anasazi, who tells him that she's pregnant with his child. Rasa then returns to Utopia and calls to him, as she's in labor with their child. She gives birth to a daughter named Hayyel. He then meets up with Anasazi, who has just given birth to her triplets. He helps her get settled with the foals.

Lateralus is disappointed to learn that Spike has lost his position as Lord of Utopia. Cadence rises to the position of Lord of Utopia. Lateralus goes to speak with him one on one. He meets with a foal named Evera in Eden, who has trouble speaking.
