Her mother died giving birth to her and her father abandoned her, blaming her for his mate's death. As a tiny foal, she wandered about, searching for someone, something that could help her. Eventually, she wandered upon a Light family with their young son, Culan. They raised her and she and Culan developed deeper feelings for each other. Before long, she was expecting and gave birth to twin fillies, Arianna and Kate. They lived happily for a couple of months, but soon her life would be shattered forever. She woke up one morning to find her girls missing. She searched for them and found them both dead, murdered, their throats torn out. She was devastated and went to look for Culan to tell him the news. She found him with another vixen. Hurt, confused and angry, she demanded an explanation. Culan told her that he murdered the fillies and that he never loved her. She gashed him on both shoulders and took off, determined to leave her past behind. She changed from Light to Dark and came upon Wild Equines.

Winter Solstice first traveled to the lands of the Unclaimed Hearts, determined to find a stallion willing enough to take her home. She ended up with two stallions, a Neutral stallion named Strider and a Dark stallion named Blue Ice. Ultimately, she decided to go to Blue Ice and little did she know that her choice would lead to many heartbreaks ahead. She traveled to Blue Ice's home, Dark Woods and they briefly discussed the topic of children before a Helkaer named Parade/Jigsaw attempted to steal Sol. The steal was blocked, but the Helkaer soon came and challenged for Sol. Ice fought for her, but he unfortunately lost and Sol was forced to go with Jigsaw to his homelands of Castner. Before she left, she met Blue Ice in Silent Forest and they bred. She met a mare named Nyxx who was supposed to be the lead of Castner. The two mares fought viciously at first. Jigsaw then disappeared and Nyxx got impatient with her King and eventually offered to help Sol escape back to Dark Woods. The two of them became friends as they discussed plans to escape and eventually they did. They were not caught and they stopped at Tulor Woods so Sol could have her child - which turned out to be children - as she birthed twins, two ivory champagne fillies. She named the first born Forsythia and decided that Blue Ice would name the other twin.
She and Nyxx parted ways after Tulor Woods and Sol went to Dark Woods to find out that Gavran, a former slave and a Neutral, had been elected to lead mare. Blue Ice saw Sol returning with their children, but barely welcomed them and gave them the option of leaving or staying. Sol felt betrayed, but things changed when Ice saved Forsythia from a falling tree. The tree gave him temporary amnesia and he welcomed them back with open arms and then named the second twin Tranquility. Sol was made Queen. Ice then claimed a mare named Tanwen and brought her to Dark Woods. The two of them got into an argument at first, but resolved it and eventually became great friends. However, things turned rocky when Blue Ice brought home a mare named Deadly Nightshade and their triplets. Sol, being used to betrayal and assuming the worst, cussed Ice out for cheating on her. Ice then demoted her from Queen, saying that he didn't want to chose between his mares. Sol began to leave then, meeting a stallion named Ochiki at the border. Ice convinced her to come back and eventually she did and became Queen again.
Things weren't going to get any better, as Sol's ex mate, Culan ventured upon Dark Woods and mocked Sol for being in a harem and for the fact that he could see Ice lying when he told Sol he loved her. Culan eventually left with some persuasion and Deadly Nightshade disappeared along with her triplets, most likely due to Sol's dislike of her. Another stealer came along then, a Neutral named Tsunami who successfully stole Sol and her daughter Forsythia. Blue Ice denied a fight and Sol agreed to go with him. Before she left though, she and Ice again bred in Tulor Woods. They waited for months for Tsunami to show up and collect his steal, but he never did and Sol had her first son, Takai Reikon, a bay leopard appaloosa. Tanwen also gave birth to Rhew around the same time, a child sired by Ice. Ice then called a herd meeting for Dark Woods and demoted Sol from Queen and presented a new mare named Phalatina and declared her the one that he loved with his body, mind and soul. Winter Solstice was completely crushed at this statement, realizing that her mate suddenly hated her and turned to a new mare that she didn't know the origins of. Sol debated leaving, but decided to stay for the sake of her three children, not wanting to find a new home for them when they were so young.
A terrible rainstorm then hit Dark Woods and Tranquility and Rhew both disappeared during it. The herd searched in vain for both of them, but were never able to find them. Unknown challenged for Dark Woods and Blue Ice met him in the battle field. Sol had a bad feeling about the battle and went to investigate only to find out that Ice was not there and Unknown was awaiting the forfeit victory. Sol fought him instead, but unfortunately lost. Battered and bleeding, she traveled back to Dark Woods to share the news with them, but was surprised to find that Ice was back and that he traded his lands with an ally. Sol was then elected Beta Mare, however, Ice ran off at the conclusion of his decision. He went missing for months and months and it was up to Sol, Tanwen and Phalatina to run Dark Woods. A brute named Enraged Pressure then sought out the lands and targeted Takai Reikon, threatening his life if the mares did not bow down to his wishes. They agreed, but he vanished shortly afterward. Phalatina's old mate returned then, and she left the crown to Sol, going to leave to be with him. However, Ice turned up again and said that Tina was not allowed to leave. Considering Sol was the only lead of Dark Woods because Ice went missing, she allowed Tina to leave and eventually allowed Ice back as King.
Escalibur's Apprentice then challenged for Dark Woods and Sol and Ice made a deal with him to have equal rule over Dark Woods along with them. Rhew and Tranquility then returned to Dark Woods after escaping from the clutches of slavery by a Dark stallion named Devan. Forsythia and Tranquility then left to start families of their own. Enraged Pressure returned to the herd and was elected the Beta Stallion much to the herd's dismay. Tanwen was then elected Beta Mare. Sol and Ice then bred again in Silent Forest and Ice stole a mare named Queen of Essense from Unknown. Sol gave birth to another son, a red dun named Nachikuitis. Queen of Essense disappeared and returned to Dark Woods with a daughter named Balamani in tow, telling the herd she was raped by Rune after wandering into his lands and him refusing to let her go. Archillies then stole both Sol and Balamani and the two of them were forced to go to his lands. Archillies told Sol that unless she gave him a foal, Balamani would be locked up in the slave cells. Sol reluctantly agreed, not wanting Balamani to go through what Essense, her mother, did. Ice confronted her and Archie in Silent Forest and demanded for them both to be let go. Archie agreed, happy that another of his children was on the way.
bSol nearly died giving birth to Archie's kid, Anesthesia, a gray filly. Ice did the best job he could being a father to his mate's kid with another stallion. Archillies however, made a big mistake when he went to see his child and Sol enslaved him for a week before his daughter, Nemesis demanded his release. Sol and Ice then handed the crown of Dark Woods to their sons, Takai Reikon and Nachikuitis. Takai elected Queen of Essense as his Queen and Nachikuitis elected Balamani. Things were quiet for a while as Sol witnessed grandchildren being born to the pair of mates and Tanwen had another foal named Tsurara. Forsythia returned to Dark Woods, along with a foal named Renesmee. Forsythia told them that she had no children and they figured out that the child must have been Tranquility's, and that she must have been raped when she went missing. Sol then learned that her son, Nachikuitis had been keeping a slave named Nikita when slaves were not allowed in Dark Woods. She chewed him out, but the whole ordeal caused Rhew to leave. Takai then found out that Enraged Pressure was also holding slaves and demanded they be freed. Enraged refused and Ice came upon the scene and the three of them got into an argument. Enraged ended up banished, but Ice said that he'd always be welcome in Dark Woods. Father and son get into a huge argument over Ice's decision and Sol intervened, demanding Ice apologize. Sol and Ice bred again and she gave birth to a grullo son named Lateralus. There was another period of quiet for Sol as she watched over her family and found out about Sykota's treachery when he betrayed Takai Reikon and stole his mate, raped her and took their daughter Viola. Sol then witnessed the death of Typhizar, an old friend and ally to Dark Woods.
Sol and Ice bred again and then Wild Equines moved to a new location. On the journey there, Sol and Ice caught a disease. Sol met Battle Cry in the Free Lands and they became friends. She also met Mor'loki, Croixx, Hellfire and Romeo and befriended Mor'loki. Sol gave birth to two foals, Scarlet Ice, a red dun and Winter Avenger, a black leopard appaloosa like herself. She raised them for a few more months before her body gave into the disease. She was surrounded by all of her children, most of her grandchildren and her friends, Tanwen, Phalatina and Battle Cry. She was elected Seraphim in Heaven under Silent Star, the current God, but Silent Star was soon replaced by Typhizar. Sol was tormented by being in the afterlife, watching her family suffer, but unable to help them in any way. With the impending apocalypse, Sol offered to send a child down from Heaven to help fight. She had a daughter with Battle Cry named Sephenia, another black leopard appaloosa, seeing as Blue Ice was unavaliable. She marked the child on her shoulder with an Enochian letter and sent her down to live with her father.
But Sol was unable to bear being stuck in Heaven and ultimately requested to be re-born. Typhizar accepted and sent her back to Earth, where she took hold of a vessel very similiar to her. She returned to Dark Woods to very shocked family members and was present at the herd meeting with Dementia, Lateralus's third mate. Ice returned to Earth with her, but he disappeared very shortly after they met up again and Sol debated whether or not to move on and decided to move on. She went to Fading Creek where she confronted her ex mate, Culan and his new mate, Circe and told them about what Culan did to her. However, they left on decent terms and while Sol won't ever trust him again, she forgave him in the only way she could. She then met Ripley in the Free Lands. She was then stolen by Rooster and forced to go once again to the Helkaer lands of Forbidden Caverns where she was supposed to be a spy and recruit for the herd. However, her fate was changed when she was stolen for a fifth time by a stallion named Stelios. She agreed to stay in his lands as his Beta Mare as long as she was allowed to visit Rooster and his daughter Firefly. However, a few short weeks after agreeing to stay, Stelios abruptly passed away, leaving Sol to attend his lands alone, along with his last child. Sol continued to visit Rooster and Firefly and eventually she and Rooster admitted their feelings for one another. However, shortly afterward, Rooster was informed of family problems outside of Wild Equines and had to leave. Sol promised to take care of Firefly in his absense. It was only after he left that Sol discovered she was pregnant.
Alone once more and expecting a child, Sol began to wander the Free lands trying to find someone decent to meet so she could find a home to raise her child. She met two equines, Jiltze and Rafer, but was unable to find a home in time for the baby. She felt the contractions and headed to Tulor Woods. She gave birth to a dun leopard appaloosa colt that she named Hezekiah. She then began to make her way back to Dark Woods, knowing it was her only option. However, a terrible storm derailed her efforts and she ended up in Terrivel Beleza instead. She and her son took shelter in a cave on the territory, and met up with the lead stallion, Baron, whom Sol had met before. He was the father of Circe, Culan's new mate. After a brief exchange of banter, Baron offered her a place to stay in Terrivel Beleza and she accepted gratefully. From there, she went on to meet Serenity, Baron's sister, and Elyse, one of Baron's daughters. She also ventured to the Free lands to meet with a mare named Illegal. One night she had a terrible nightmare about Blue Ice, and met with Baron, who suggested she meet with Skindred, Libitina, Bakari, and Fiction. She spent some time with the other mares of Terrivel Beleza and often volunteered to be a babysitter for their children. She and Hezekiah then go meet with Rafer once more and several times afterward.
Months began to pass and Hezekiah was growing up. He began to drift farther and farther away from his mother, and Sol knew it wouldn't be long before he grew too independent to need her anymore. She and Baron met once more and Baron offered her the Beta mare position of Terrivel Beleza, which Sol accepted immediately, happy to have something to do and a way to contribute to the land. She learned about the separation of Baron and Skindred and met with both Skindred and Libitina to say farewell to the former Queen. Sol then meets a filly in Terrivel Beleza named Amberlynn, who recently lost her mother. Sol then discovered the fact that her grandson, Schism, and great granddaughter, Apocrypha, also lived in Terrivel Beleza with her. Time passed and Sol realized she hadn't seen Baron for a few days. Unexpectedly, a new arrival by the name of Malocchio came into Terrivel Beleza and announced that Baron had given the lands to him. They were renamed Carnevale Scheletro. Sol gathered her kin and attended the herd meeting that was called along with Libitina, Margaux and the Quads. It wasn't long before new members also arrived, Amityville Horror, Terror, a demon called Samhain and Artemisia. Sol is disgusted by their violent, gory ways and announces her intentions to leave if the herd will not meet her expectations of new life rather than death and violence. However, the new leader does not last long and the lands are claimed again by a stallion called Snake Eyes, ironically someone Sol has met before - when she was stolen by Rooster. He does not last long either, and soon the lands are claimed by Snake Eyes' mate, Katana, whom Sol meets in a brief meeting, though it is not long before she too, vanishes. Another stallion named Ephraim claims the lands, but Sol decides to leave her old home in search of a new one due to the amount of changing in leadership and the destabilization that has taken place. She takes once again to the Free lands, wandering from place to place. During this time she and Hezekiah part ways.
She meets with Rafer several times while in the Free lands, trying to see if they can find a herd to settle in while Sol debates rejoining Dark Woods once more. During her wandering in the Free lands she meets a stallion named Variks and runs into an old friend - Baron - who appears to be suffering from amnesia and does not remember her. Afterward, Sol goes on to meet with Rafer once more in their usual meeting place. The two of them become closing in the next few weeks and eventually become intimate. However, Sol finds herself thinking of Rafer as more of a friend than a lover and they part ways. She decides to rejoin Dark Woods once more. She makes frequent trips to the Free lands and in one of her trips, she meets a stallion named Cade, who questions her about the Neutral Kingdom's war with the Helkaer.
