Mr. Darkwood

PROFILE

• Mr. Darkwood is a lone hermit holed away from the rest of the world. He quite prefers to be neither seen nor heard, and goes to many lengths to keep it that way, including living outside Origin's walls.
• He grew up as a lab rat of a very wealthy couple, in the middle of Placard's web of influence. The constant medical visits and rigorous tests he was put through exhausted him, and once his father died, he escaped.
• After meeting Rees as a child, and then later being saved by her again as an adult, he now tries to help her with her insane plan to take down Placard's corruption once and for all. He doesn't agree with her all the time, but...he has to keep her safe.

PERSONALITY

• Completely the opposite of Rees's butt-kicking, optimistic attitude, Darkwood is outwardly bitter, sour and cynical to the bone.
• He's a pessimist about life, and he thinks society and people are mostly a waste of time. If he could be alone forever to survive, he'd take it. Even then though, he's not his own best friend.
• While mostly a bitter can of worms, some of it's a facade to avoid getting anywhere close to others. But Rees manages to chip away at a bit of that shell, revealing a deeper man beneath that's die-hard loyal and protective. It's hard to get to that side of him with his trust issues and aversion to people, but once cracked open, he's a vicious guard dog.
