Maxwell (マクスヱル Makusuweru) is a dimensional traveler working under the Immortal Youkai Army. He and the IYA are the ones that cause the crystallization incident in The Antiquity of Ever Silence.

Name

Maxwell's name doesn't have any partiuclar meaning to it, but it's unknown if the name is his first name or surname, or if it even is his real one at all.

Despite working for them, Maxwell cares very little for the IYA and only does things for them purely out of self interest and being under their control by force.

Manako Hasekura

Manako acts as Maxwell's handler in the Military Route, making sure he doesn't run off and protects the Crystal World's core body from any intruders.

Takuto Yamaha

He recognizes Takuto as being a former member of the IYA in the Resistance Route and knows some of his history as a solider and relationship to Yumeko.

Yumeko Kakenawa

In the Resistance Route, he reveals Yumeko was part of his and the IYA's experiments with an eldritch being called Q'yth-az and Project 2048. She became the most successful subject as she managed to bond to the crystal without dying, technically making her his creation.

Official Profile

A dimensional traveler who (forcibly) works under the IYA. Travelers are entities that have no set home world, instead traversing various dimensions endlessly through tesseracts: a multi-dimensional object that allows one to bend space and time to get from one place to another. How one obtains a tesseract is largely unknown however, as even travelers themselves don't reveal much information on it willingly. They do however hint that those that learn how tesseracts work and make one "become" travelers.

Maxwell in particular appeared in Kuusou no Sekai many years ago and was captured by IYA forces, seeing his ability as useful for their plans of creating a youkai-only world. While he does work for them, he holds no real loyalty to them; whether the crystals are stopped or end up destroying both the IYA and the whole of Kuusou no Sekai matters very little to Maxwell. His time spent traveling has made him very detached to other people and their feelings, so he picks no sides and helps/hinders whoever interests him the most. Such is the way of most travelers.
