Poppy Seed (ポピー シード Popī Shīdo) is a butterfly fairy that appears in the Dream World, originally coming from the Dreamlands.

Concept

Her outfit references a poppy flower, which is said to symbolize (eternal) sleep, peace, and death, fitting with her abilities. Her wings are of the pieris rapae, better known as the cabbage white butterfly, a common species of butterfly.

Name

Poppy Seed is named after the oilseed of the same name.

Official Profile

A fairy found within the Dream World. Poppy Seed doesn't originate from the Dream World, but from a place called the Dreamlands, a world that exists in another dream-based reality. It's not often that these fairies turn up in the Dream World far from home, but she came along with others like her to do a job requested by her superiors.

Her kind have been ordered to spread sleepiness all around so that everyone stays asleep longer. For what reasons, she doesn't seem to really know. She just does it without question. As she doesn't visit the Dream World (or anywhere else outside of it), she forgoes her job and waits around for dreamers to pass by so she can chat them up. She's fascinated with non-dream beings.

Perhaps it's because she wants to know so much, people end up not liking her since she tends to ask and talk too much about them. Since she is a simple-minded fairy, she doesn't even seem to notice this and goes on and on without care. She's nothing but a talkative loon.
