Quiet and studious, Ziyan was born in a family of clerics serving the patron deity of metallic dragons Lord Bahamut. Being the only child of the household meant that Ziyan was free to do whatever he liked and enjoy the undivided attention of both his parents. However, all of that changed when his father brought home a child he had found collasped on the rocks near their dwelling by the sea.

Initially resentful of the new addition to the family for stealing his thunder, Ziyan eventually came to care for them and the two children grew up to become close friends. One night, Ziyan was awoken by a loud crash, followed by the sight of his friend sneaking out of their room with a bag. They never returned, skilfully evading all subsequent attempts to contact them. A puzzled Ziyan has since taken upon himself to track his friend down in order to find out what happened― and to bring them home.
