CHARACTER SYNOPSIS

Luke is a friendly, optimistic questing knight who loves to fight and help others! He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's loyal and trusting. He can be very stubborn at times and isn't very good at handling any emotions. Luke would rather use his strength to solve problems rather than using words or a non-combative plan.

 NAME    Luke Atwood Berson
 NICKNAME(S)   Lukey, Sir Luke
 AGE   23 yrs old
 BIRTHDAY  August 17th
 SPECIES   Human
 MAGIC  None
 GENDER  Male (Trans)
 ORIENTATION  Bisexual
 PRONOUNS   He/Him
 ETHNICITY   Medithalan

Physical Appearance

General Notes: Luke stands at 5 feet and 5 inches, with a triangular body-shape and a squarish face shape. He has green eyes and golden hair, with his most notable facial feature being his big nose. Luke is typically depicted in a golden, non-metallic armor which he wears when adventuring.
Injuries and Scars: Has several scars inflicted by all sorts of things (claws, teeth, blades) all over his body, often concealed by clothing. Aside from battle wounds, he also has top surgery scars. He is also missing a toe.
Clothing Style: When it comes to casual clothing, Luke has absolutely no fashion sense. A t-shirt and jeans is his typical go-to outfit, and occasionally he'll don a button-up or some overalls if he wants to look "fancier". Not one for elaborate outfits unless someone picks it out for him.

CONSTITUTION

Strengths: Luke's biggest advantage in a fight is his physical strength, as he is much stronger than the average human being. Despite his lithe build, he's able to carry heavy objects with ease and deal powerful blows with his fists alone. His body also heals pretty fast, although deep wounds will still scar. He's pretty speedy and has a decent stamina.

Weaknesses:  For some reason, most magic has a greater effect on Luke than it would on anyone else. The only exception to this is healing magic, which has a lessened effect on him.

Health: Decent. Gets injured often but recovers quickly. Easily susceptible to magic-based illnesses.

DEMEANOR

Luke's resting face is normally a smile, and it's fairly rare to see him upset. Sometimes he may force himself to smile when angered or annoyed to seem polite, but it may seem more strained than usual. Very rarely do negative emotions easily appear on his face and when they do they tend to be extreme. He's very touchy-feely and has a hard time controling his strength in casual situations.

INVENTORY

Concealed Dagger

A small blade with an ornate silver hilt, which was a birthday gift from Jeremy. Some colorful charms are tied onto the hilt and it seems to be very well taken care of. Luke never leaves home without it, even in casual outings.

Questing Bag

A worn, patchwork backpack that has definitely seen better days. One of the few items Luke was able to bring with him from Medithala. Carries basic questing supplies inside.

Mystery Potion

A small, glass bottle containing a shimmering pear-green liquid inside. Its effects are unknown... maybe even to Luke.

Personality

Social Reserved
Brave Cowardly
Strategic Impulsive
Humble Prideful
Lawful Chaotic
Pretensive Sincere

Luke is your classic heroic adventurer: optimistic, friendly, and always happy to help! He’s always seen with a huge smile on his face and tends to look on the brighter side of things, even if it looks bleak. It’s tough to break his spirit or upset him in general. Planning & thinking things through isn’t his style and he’d much rather rush blindly into danger. He always pushes himself to do better and refuses to give up no matter how bad things get. While not at all the smartest guy around, Luke is pretty knowledgeable in areas surrounding his interests such as fighting & gardening. He’s a complete chatterbox, often speaking faster than he can think, and loves to be around others in general. Easily excited by new things, Luke loves to explore and often becomes distracted when out and about. Luke always sees the best in others- sometimes to a fault, and is loyal to those he serves, both the Kingdom and his loved ones.

Luke often acts on impulse, which when paired with his big mouth, tends to get him into lots of trouble. He is very stubborn in his ideals and won't budge on them even if doing something outside his morals could benefit in the situation, and often blocks out any opposing opinion. Even if bruised and bloodied, Luke will stop at nothing to make sure the job gets done, willing to risk his own life and health. He thinks very lowly of himself and always puts others first, often neglecting his own needs even outside of combative situations. Emotional intelligence is something he severely lacks, as he tries his best to push down and not let any sort of negative or complex emotion show. He feels immense shame if he lets anything past a surface-level emotion show, viewing it as a form of weakness and a burden to those around him. Because of this, issues he cannot pummel with his fists or slice through with a sword are frightening to him, and he’d much rather flee than dissect his feelings or talk through the problem.

Headcanon Voice:
Jack Mcbrayer

Voice Description: A little high pitched but is still considered average for a guy his age. His voice will crack when he gets upset and/or flustered. Speaks in a southern-esque accent

Accent: Southern Medithalian

Speech Quirks: Speaks in a slight drawl, he rarely pronounces g's at the end of a word. He also overly pronounces big words.

Movement while Speaking: Very exaggerated. often walks around and makes big hand gestures.

Use of Swears: Moderate

Humor: Really likes wordplay, but pretty much laughs at everything! He often has to hold back laughter when Jeremy hurls an insult at someone (as to not appear rude).

HISTORY

39490101_lwKXBVcmGjdPymp.png

For someone who frequently over shares with no prompting, Luke is surprisingly very reserved when it comes to talking about his childhood and general past. But, with enough prodding, Luke will eventually share some details. Born and raised in rural southern Medithala, Luke grew up on the family farm under the watchful eye of his beloved mother. He knows very little of his father apart from his name, which Luke doesn't really mind considering the man did not contribute to his life whatsoever. When he got older, Luke's mother was struck with an illness that no local doctor could diagnose, not even the pricier ones up in the town of Acresong. So, despite being barely a tween, he set out to scrounge up enough money to find someone who could help.

If you were to ask him how he ended up in Dormere, however, the details become fuzzy and inconsistent. Sometimes his search for a job landed him on a plane that crashed there, other times he claims that he missed one to many stops on a bus. Either way, he spent his later teenage years living in the wilds of Dormere, his only companion being Garbanzo, his pet "dog". He spent most of his time helping any person or creature in need that he comes across. Luke comes to love the kingdom as he is able to explore it, especially its forests as he was too nervous to go into the nearby city. Being out in the wilderness, he studies the creatures that reside there and is able to differentiate the different types and species of fables after a while. During this time he lived in a shelter he made for himself using a hollowed out train car, decorated with various trinkets he found. With his decent hunting and farming skills he managed to provide for himself pretty well... although he'd frequently would have to "borrow" supplies like clothes and food from the neighbourghing nooks (knight strongholds). This got him into loads of trouble with local authority and nook keepers, but he typically was speedy enough to evade consequences.

Well, most of the time, at least.
During an attempt to gather more supplies, Luke was caught by a nook keeper and was nearly turned in to the local authorities. He only managed to get away thanks to Jeremy, who happened to be in the area and persuaded the keeper to let him go. Determined to return the favor, Luke followed him around, much to the other's annoyance. The two did not like each other very much at the start, their opposing natures often clashing and resulting in several arguments, but it wouldn't be long until they began getting along very well- so much so that they would still hang out even after Luke had repaid his "debt". Jeremy visited him as often as he could, and they would often talk for hours on end, becoming the best of friends. He would keep inviting Luke to live with him, which the other would keep declining as he was still too nervous about being in the city. Winter would come and harsh weather with it, and due to being unprepared Luke nearly froze to death, which ultimately helped him decide to push away his fears and move in with Jeremy. After getting accustomed to the city of San Lumís, he decided to become a knight, and with the help of his new housemate, was soon able to enroll and start his training. However, he realized he didn't want to work alone and asked Jeremy to come work with him, who would eventually agree too after weighing his options. The two have been working as questing knights since, and are practically inseparable.

MAIN RELATIONSHIPS

Jeremy Warminster 65071562_hDVHGHCYrfd0CuR.png Best Friend ➜ Boyfriend

Despite being polar opposites, Luke loves Jeremy a lot! There's literally nothing Luke wouldn't do for him, including putting himself in grave danger. He tries to get Jeremy to be nicer and friendlier to others with very little success. The knight likes to spend as much time with him as he can, and the two are very rarely seen apart. Luke is fairly out of touch with his emotions and regards his feelings for Jeremy as just intense friendship and doesn't realize that he's actually in love with him until a few years later. But once he does realize, it becomes very hard for him to conceal his true feelings and the two start dating soon after. He loves his boyfriend with his whole heart and would stop at nothing to make sure he is happy and safe.

Princess Adelais65071574_ZoYKUkzw6FrmfrT.png Friend

When they first meet, Luke immediately has respect for Kitty due to her royal status, but begins to really like her in general the more they get to know one another. When he's around her, he tends to be more of a show-off since the two are really competitive with each other. They often dare each other to do stupid things that rarely end well. But both of them are extremely close friends who always have each other's back. Luke, due to his distrust of artificial magic, is very dismissive of Adelais' research. He tends to try to discourage her from continuing to research anything related to it and is generally unsupportive in this regard.
