Personality
"A-Another ambassador? No, no, I'm sure I'm the only one!"

Tsujino is a sheltered, but knowledge hungry woman. Her character traits are almost contradictory, being a very paranoid, and neurotic lady who dislikes doing anything she is not familiar with and out of her comfort zone, and perpetually stubborn on receiving help, yet is extremely independent and possesses a leading demeanor, and incredibly impulsive on matters where she feels like she knows best. She is a bit in her own head, believing that she is the one true ambassador of Voidkind and ignorantly pretending the rise of Void/Host pairings doesn't exist, though she knows very well they are prevalent now.

Tsujino is dowsed with guilt due to her involvement with the Lab Committee and her general foolishness and neuroticism, but she remains dominant in her ideas and has confidence in herself enough to believe that she is a genius beyond all geniuses. Her guilt makes her try to find answers to fix issues she feels responsible to mend, but she gets so into her head in the process that she believes that she knows what's best for everyone, doing things in advance without approval. Tsujino truly believes that she is the only one who has the correct answer, though this all stems from her fixer mentality. She does desperately desire the input of others, but Tsujino can also be a crybaby and stubborn when it doesn't line up with her ideologies.

Her view on people has been skewed due to her defecting the Lab Committee and her paranoia. She believes all people are naturally selfish, and tend to stay stuck in their selfish ways. She herself believes she is included in this category of natural selfishness due to her past, even though her intentions have always been self sacrificial. Her self confidence in herself as a genuine and heartful person is significantly lower than her self confidence in her abilities. She feels terrible for keeping Kougami to herself in hiding, increasing her already incredible guilt, and sometimes can get into a headspace that makes her believe Kougami is only with her because otherwise he would be dead, and not because of a true bond. This is what motivates her to search for the answer to turning Voids back to humans should they have been corrupted, giving those Voids a safe haven and the "true freedom" that they deserve. She thoroughly dislikes the more researched Coexistence Method because she believes it's selfish for a host to hinge on and hog up the life of a Void, and states genetic modification will do better in the long run, fitting of her mad scientist status. The Parasite Voids currently melding in with humanity have clearly displayed that they like being themselves, and like their current identity and bonds, showing Tsujino's impulsive savior complex and inability to accept other's choices. She grows to learn and accept that the Coexistence method and genetic improvements should work in tandem, and not divided; she realizes now that the psychological growth of Coexistence and the physical accomodations of genetic improvements bring essentials to a happy life for the Parasite Voids.

Tsujino can be talked out of her impulse, but she just has never experienced the support of such. When she is in situations of support, she can be emotional and overreactive out of fear. However, it will make her reflect on her issues, and less scared to let go of her ideals. She gets this treatment through the other heroines and begins to warm up to differing ideas and starts improving methods beyond her own biases, like the Coexistence method, while also using geneticism to improve small but helpful enhancements like EXS rationing, strength, and et cetera. Her biggest project nowadays is trying to make a serum that'll reduce Voids constant craving and desire for EXS, and helping them to eat a normal amount like holy fuck they dont need 500 steaks for dinner

After her reformation and earning of the heroine status, she still is anxious about small things but displays more confidence in making her ideas more diverse. Whenever the heroines need to do something, this girl will always have a plan if none of them do! She is less afraid of the outside, shedding her tendencies to shelter herself, and slowly becomes more confident in herself not just with her abilities, but with Tsujino, as a person. She is less fearful of her expressing her ideas to others, including situations of them getting shut down and turned into a compromise, but if she really feels like she is making a point, she will defend her thought process. At the end of the day, Tsujino is just a sheltered nerdy girl who is trying to become more honest with herself little by little.

When around the heroines and Kougami, she tends to be clingy as a way to emote her shock of having a group that is truly there for her, often being really touchy in ways that would look unwanted to a normal person. This seems to be from Tsujino having zero friends growing up. She tries her hardest to impress them (failing miserably) and return the favor for saving her from what felt like a lonely world, especially towards Nodoka.

  • She loves fruits, especially apples, cantaloupe and blueberries. What she would do for a apple fritter right now...Her favorite activity is to pick apples, in fact!
  • Even with Tsujino adjusting to new experiences more easily, she will never get over her fear of roller coasters.
  • Her glasses are actually the hiragana for Nono. のの see look
  • Tsujino is not her first name. She takes a strange combination of her parents names due to her being in hiding. Her full real name is Nijie Tsujino.
  • She used to be called Yubari in grade school due to her farm cultivating several types of melons.
  • Undefeated suikawari champion.
  • Her EXS ability awakens a dormant limitless knowledge on constructing weapons. She has an expansive collection of gigantic machine guns, turrets, and other combat ready inventions. Let's be thankful she's a heroine and not working for anyone in particular...
  • Her sentence enders tend to be "uhihi" to mimic a nervous laugh.
  • Her favorite animal is the squirrel. No particular species, just an ordinary everyday squirrel outside.
  • Outside of her natural talent for robots and experimentation, her other hobbies tend to be thrift shopping, DIY, pottery and ceramics, basket weaving, and more recently, sightseeing and spelunking.
  • out of all the heroines shes like, one of the most visibly bisexual. just wanted to put that out there because shes like the accidental queerbait queen of them all

Scissors

Whenever she manifests her human form through Nao's hair, she always seems to form a pair of scissors in her hand along with it, despite it having no actual use. Surely that must mean something...?

Relationships
"(Uhihihi! They're...all clueless! I get to start my life over~)"

unknown.png

"my best friend...uhihihi!"

"Nodo-chan...she's as sweet as puddin'...! Whenever I'm crying, she's there...she's always there to help, to be with me. Nodo-chan, I'm so sorry that I pushed you away when I...I just want to be there for you, next time."

Tsujino and Nodoka are very close, almost peas in a pod due to their plain, bookworm-like attitude. Though Tsujino is more outwardly neurotic than the rather quiet and suppressed Nodoka, the way they hold themselves makes them connect almost naturally. Tsujino's savior complex initially makes her wary of Nodoka and how she handles Voids, but after an almost fatal encounter in the Hollow Night, she realizes Nodoka's improvements to Coexistence is not out of selfishness, but out of a concern for their health. Tucking away her biases, she now seeks for the two of them to work together as they navigate the world of Voids. They tend to be together very often, finding peace in each other as they go out and shed their shut-in, workaholic tendencies. Tsujino is less direct with initiating anything between them due to her paranoid nature, but is estatic when Nodoka chooses anything. She tends to find gifts for her, subtly imply whenever she wants to be around her, and tends to compliment her a lot, something she doesn't realize. Her reasoning for doing all this is so she doesn't lose her. She is the most clingy to Nodoka out of the heroines for obvious, deuteragonist reasons, but it seems to be relatively mutual.

She harbors guilt for how Nodoka protected her from the Abyss, and desperately wants to be there for her like she was. She has had no opportunity to do such yet, and it frustrates her. Tsujino's genuine friendship is more than enough for Nodoka to not have any regrets.

"kou..."

"Kou-chan...I've really loved you since the beginning, but...Eh? You already knew that? Why are you blushing? W-Why are you turning away? Wehhh, waittt...!"

Ever since their escape from the Committee, they have been inseperable both figuratively and literally. They started with a natural tension towards each other due to their incompatible species, but grew to trust each other in what felt like a lonely and terrifying world clawing at them. Tsujino has fixed many of Kougami's more severe scars, and he is grateful to have someone to talk to as he navigates uncertainty of who he is and what his life was supposed to be. Tsujino fell for his cynical way of speaking, feeling his hopeful nature even when he acts as a realist, reminding her of her own self sometimes. Kougami wishes for her to find true happiness and hope, wanting the best for her after protecting them both for years. The school staff and children often tease Kougami about his attachment to the "mystery girlfriend" on his lockscreen, as every conversation seems to end with what he should for her when he gets home.

Nao

???

"No! No more dancing! No more singing! Help me!"

They cooperate enough to live. Furumaki's cautious mindset contrasts hard with Nao's obnoxious and impulsive attitude. However, both do have tunnel vision. That's one thing in common, I suppose.

acquainted

"You too, you also roam aimlessly..."

They are not on friendly terms, nor are they really that acquainted, but they act so similar enough and have similar feelings that their interactions are usually in a pleasant, formal manner.
