Alara Agares

Alara is the mother of Adriel and Kaleb, and the wife of Danther. A hard-working woman, her position often calls for her to be away for weeks at a time.

Appearance

Alara is a short and slender woman with pale skin.  She is thin around the face, and this highlights her wrinkles.  She has red eyes and poor eyesight, forcing her to wear glasses.  She has jet black hair, which she tends to keep short.  She generally wears blue, fancy tops with smart trousers and white boots, sometimes with a scarf or neckpiece on her person.  She wears more formal dresses on special occassions.

Personality

Alara is a hard-working woman who knows how to talk people down.  She can be extremely fierce and frightening when she needs to be, as she handles a lot of disgruntled speakers as part of her work. As the Head of Foreign affairs, when not working in her office Alara takes trips away from home for several days, leaving Adriel and Danther to their own devices.  While very sociable and accommodating as per the needs of her job, Alara is actually extremely distrustful of strangers.  

She originally started working such long hours to help combat the depression over Kaleb's death, which she still feels guilt over to this day.   She showers Adriel with gifts from her trips, little realising his yearning for her attention and appears to be not as close to him as she once was.

A lover of art, she has taken the Evehaal Council of Art under her wing, often providing funding for it out of her own pocket.  She also has a tendency to buy various works of art when abroad, often with the intention of buying it for the Council.  More often than not these end up in her own home.

• Her favourite colour is blue.
• She loves art, collecting sculptures and paintings to decorate the family home with.
• She was most likely the instigator for Adriel's love of fantasy books - having passed down many of her own from her childhood to him.
• She used to be quite religious, but gave up going to worship after Kaleb died.
• She was trained to sing when she was younger.
