Avaritia

A young shepherdess from the Northern village of Lora, Avie is tomboyish, independent and as hardy as a Northerner can get.

Appearance

Avie is of average height, with pale skin and long, wavy strawberry-blonde hair.  Her most notable feature are her red eyes.  She is usually found wearing her work clothes - a fur lined body warmer, pink shirt, brown trousers and hiking boots; she also has leather overalls for wet conditions.  She can also be found wearing a brown fur hat for warmth and protection.  Often, she is to be found with a gun on her - a key part of her job as a livestock guardian.

Personality

Avie is a tough, hard-working and headstrong young woman.  On her off days, if not doing chores around her home, she might be out at the local tavern or simply hanging around with friends.  She also has a reckless side to her, and likes rock-climbing amongst other things.  This kind of behaviour and her overall attitude masks someone underneath who is almost always worried about the state of her family and finances.  She tends to put her financial stability first, prioritizing it above everything else.

While quick thinking, her solutions to problems aren't always the best or the most well thought out.  They may get the job done, but can also cause a host of other problems.  Her independent nature can also cause her to reject the help of others.  Avie can be quite defensive of her ideals, quick to lash out at those critical of what she does and can be quite argumentative.  She has a huge dislike of Southerners, and Nobles in general, who she sees as responsible for the economic and environmental state of her country.  She really disliked Adriel at first and was quick to give him the cold shoulder for his origins and his quietness, but has come round to him recently.

Trivia

• Her full name is Avaritia, but she prefers to go by Avie.  The reason is that she thinks her full name is a bit pretentious and sounds like it belongs to someone a little more upper-class than her.  Puzzlingly, she insists on using her full name when she is around strangers.
• She was once thrown out of her school for climbing on the roof.
• She can read and write, but is out of practice and finds these activities difficult.
• Working as a shepherdess and livestock guardian, she has an extensive knowledge of sheep care.
• She carries a small knife in her boot at all times, for use as a tool and as a defence.
• She has a good knowledge of how to use a gun, though her current model is old, and only fires one shot before requiring reloading.
• Her gun is an important to her job as a livestock guardian, as a means of defence against predators, bandits and thieves.
• She can have something of a problem with authority, espeically if she sees them as not having earned her respect.
