Danther Baal

Adriel's father, and the Ruling Lord of the Noble Council.  He is distant from his son, and is struggling to mend their relationship.

Appearance

Danther has long brown hair that matches his eyes and this is usually tied back.  He is fairly tall and is of average build.  He usually sports a thick beard over his face.  He can often been found in his official robes, but otherwise wears smart clothing.

Personality

Danther holds a high position in the Heralsis Valian government, being the leader of the Ruling Council.  He oversees many of the key decisions and meetings that influence the lives of people all over the country.  As such, he must be everything a leader has to be.  This has lead to him becoming a hardened man, who rarely if ever backs down when challenged.  He likes to be direct, getting straight to the point on issues.  His position requires him to be highly social, but he often ends up exhausted afterwards.  Danther also has something of temper, and can explode when frustrated.

Danther used to be a fun loving father, who loved playing with both his sons.  After his son Kaleb's death however, he changed significantly.  He became sombre and distant from Adriel, often exploding at his youngest son for the slightest mistakes.  He also became over protective and restrictive towards Adriel, failing to see how much he was suffocating his son.  Ironically, despite his directness on the Council, he finds it very hard to communicate his feelings to his son.  He is constantly thinking about Kaleb and what he could have done to prevent his death.

• He smokes expensive tobacco from Priung Atla.
• Of all the things to nitpick, he never commented on Adriel's choice of hair colour.
• In his younger days he tried to see things from a neutral point of view but in his older years he became very biased.
• He has some sword and gun training, and can handle both competently if need be.
