Born as the eldest son to Cordelia Irving and Reid Irving, Malik has always had a laidback life. His parents were never forceful when it comes to his lessons since they knew the type of person he was at the time. Pushing Malik to do anything was like pulling teeth. it was better to let him do his own thing since evemtually he would get around doing it due to his own boredom or being nagged to do so by Dante. Dante and Malik have a tight bond. They always motivate each other to work on things they procrastinate doing though competitions. It's through this they are able to grow and learn what is needed to become eventual rulers. It was thanks to Dante that he pushed him into getting into a relationship with Gael. It was something that he doesn't regret as Gael was the only person who understood how he felt and shared a similar mindset as him. Having someone like him helped him feel comfortable with every decision he makes.
This would all come to challenge him when his parents would die. He still remember it like it was yesterday. He had planned to tell his parents about the fact he had fallen in love with Gael after talking to him about revealing the truth to them. At his entrance of his castle, he was not expecting to see Cael standing there with a look of remorse on his face. He was not expecting to hear him state that his parents had died due to the death of the people of Azeth. He was not expecting to be put in a position where he had to take over as king.
The years after their death that Malik experienced were troubling and tiring. However, he hid his pain behind his smile and charisma. It's only when he's around his brother and his partner that he reveals his sorrow. It certainly doesn't help that his best friend (Dante) left Ferox to escape the arranged marriage with Gael. While he is slowly pushing through his guilt of not being there for his parents and his role as king, the appearance of Dante brought back his worries of losing his partner to him as he knows the two are not interested in each other. However, he carries with him the hope that maybe...maybe Dante can help him finally move on and be there for his people.
