The One with Unfortunate Luck
"Is this my fault that she's gone...?"
Born to Nia Norwood and Amelia Norwood, Shanice's life was relatively nice. Both of her parents gave her all the love in the world and never forced her to focus too hard on her studies as a princess. It was mostly due to the fact that being a princess wasn't something that truly interested her and both mothers knew that this was something that they needed to gradually introduced. As such, Shanice spent most of her life focusing her attention on something that caught more of her interest: knighthood. The stories Nia told about her time as a knight were something that Shanice enjoyed. She always saw the knights as being the heroes that she craved to be with their bravery and kindness. However, of all of the knights her mother told her about, it would be Cael (and eventually Flynn Scifo) that caught her eye. Cael was simply just...the perfect knight. The fact she was able to communicate with him often...made her heart race. It was through his actions that the female grew a craving to become knight and perhaps even take over Cael's position as a commandant.
However, that dream would be something that would be put on hold when Shanice lost her mother: Amelia. She was only a little girl when she ended up stumbling upon a group of monsters. How she managed to evade her guards was still a mystery. However, she would end up disturbing the monsters and be chased by them. These monsters would corner her...and just as she felt like she was going to face her demise, Amelia came and knock her out of the way to avoid getting killed...only to be thrown off the cliff. Through her distress and angst, Shanice would summon her familiar (Elm), who would fuse with the young girl and help her flee back to Nia. Despite the kingdom's atempts, no one could find Amelia, leading to those to assume she died. It is with her "death", that Shanice lived with the regret of causing her mother's death and was left to overly protected by Nia. It would be years before Nia would loosen her grip enough to trust her to explore the land without her.
It is during those years that Shanice desire to become a hero would grow stronger. She came to associate being a hero as being a form of strength and thought that being a knight was her only true way to become stronger. As such, she spent so many years pleading to her mother to let her become a knight, only for her to keep denying her in fear of losing her. In frustratied, one day, she would once again wander off and end up in a similar position where she was surrounded by monsters. However, she would be saved by Elaine. While Shanice did earn scorn for repeating her mistake, she would end up bringing light into her mother's heart by introducing her to someone that she would eventually fall in love with. Eventually, Elaine and Nia would fall in love and Shanice would use the time she spend with Elaine as a excuse to grow stronger. It is through her journey of becoming stronger that Isabelle would light the fire for her to push towards greatness by having her focus on her studies. Isabelle would be the rival that allowed her accept her duties as a princess as she thought it would be a way for her to get her mother to trust her to become a knight and to learn things she havent't considered through her studies. Damn shame she's falling in love with Isabelle.
