AGENT BRIEF
After murdering her abusive father at the age of 16, Seong was offered a chance to escape legal repercussions by working for then newly established Birdcage Agent Canary. Seong was one of Canary's first Birdcage assets and was trained in espionage and assassination by Birdcage agents. She has worked under Canary for close to 10 years.
Following Oriole's coup, Seong requested emancipation and was granted leave. She was given a new identity as Vivianne Xu, a daughter of a Phoenix Guild associate and has since entered into an arranged marriage with Hamada Motors heir Raymond Lai.
Seong has received top level espionage training and is a master of cultivating human relationships. She is able to quickly transitions between personas to mask her identity and to quickly build rapport with her target. She is well versed in seduction as a means of compromising her mark. Seong is an ideal subterfuge agent for short term infiltration missions.

As part of her espionage regime, Seong has received some cyberspace intelligence training. She is able to hack into mid rated security systems to transfer information given a physical terminal. She is not rated to breach high security systems and would require assistance/instructions from a CYBINT specialist agent to do so.

Seong grew up in a poor household in Outer Seoul, South Korea. Her father was an alcoholic and an abusive man. In Seong's teenage years, he began to force sexual abuse upon her. To defend herself, she hid a kitchen knife under her pillow and killed her father by stabbing him over a hundred times.
The case quickly caught the attention of reporters due to their morbid interest in the juxtaposition of the brutality of the murder and Seong's beauty.
Canary, a newly appointed member of the Birdcage, controlled a faction in the Phoenix which monitored much of the media in East Asia and the story also piqued his interest. Before the stories could be published, he pulled them from the papers, and personally flew to Korea to intercept the case proceedings and coerce Seong to work for him.
Even at her young age, it was already clear that Seong was developing an irresistable beauty and charm as well as a capability for remorseless killing, which made her an excellent candidate for espionage. Upon her recruitment, she underwent years of intelligence and assassination training with Birdcage.
Seong ran countless missions under Canary, often in joint missions with other Birdcage agents and became his favored assassin. She was highly trained and capable to modifying her outward persona into anyone in order to lull her targets into a false sense of commaderie. Some time during those early years, Seong came to realize that the original leverage Canary had used to persuade her into his employment had been fabricated. However, by this time, due to her line of work, he had accumulated real leverage against her, and now she was truly trapped in his employement. She began to develop a resentment for the life she had been forced into.
In the later years of Canary's activity, he formed an alliance with agent Mockingbird. Canary found that Mockingbird agent James Li and Seong paird well in high society missions, and the two agents were deployed on many assignments together. James and Seong formed a casual romantic and physical relationship. Seong envied James for his relative immunity to Birdcage's captivity. However, when she expressed a desire for him to help her escape the Birdcage, he refused, and the relationship between the two fell apart.
Seong was one of the former Canary agents that escaped targeted destruction. Though Oriole had initially intended to keep Seong on as an agent, Oriole granted Seong's request for emancipation. Seong was given a new identity as Vivianne Xu, and adopted by Xu Ming, a Golden Phoenix Guild deputy and wealthy CFO of Liuhei Oil. Xu Ming used Vivianne to build up financially strategic guanxi with Hamada Motors by having her seduce and marry Hamada Motors' indirect heir Raymond Lai.
Seong has been officially severed from the Birdcage but due to her long involvement with the Cage, she will remain under constant surveillance for as long as resources allow.
Seong's new identity as Vivianne Xu makes her a daughter to one of the highest ranking families within the Phoenix. However, in accordance to Valerie's orders, Seong is not involved with Phoenix activites.
It's no secret in the underworld that Hamada Motors is extremely corrupt internally, with most of its stakeholders participating in alliances with black corporations and syndicates. However there is no evidence so far that Seong is involved in any of their illicit activies yet.

Seong and Mockingbird agent James ran many assignments together. The two had a natural and easy chemistry. Though they were quite fond of each other and often sought each others' company, neither believed the relationship to be very serious.
Seong admired James for his ability to transition seamlessly between a life on the underworld and normal (as normal as it could be for James, I guess) society. Thrill-seeking James was heavily disillusioned when she revealed to him her desire to leave the criminal underworld, and their companionship broke down soon after. Seong was particularly devastated by this, but realized that she could not be with James while holding onto her desire for normal life.

In the Oriole coup, Seong was one of the former Canary agents that Oriole double agent Jasper had spared execution. Though they had been friends before, their relationship soured after Jasper's duplicity came to light. Though she forgave him for the deaths he caused, their relationship further broke down after he mocked her desire to leave the Birdcage.
Seong, fresh from her rejection from James Li, did not take to this well and is rumored to have had a physical altercation with Jasper and taken his cybernetic arm.

It's not entirely certain how Mockingbird agent Lucas and Seong met, as they were never assigned on any missions together. However, they were close friends, with Lucas often visiting Seong (particularly when escaping Mockingbird researcher Maria's examinations). Seong played a sisterly role to Lucas, protecting him from Maria's experimentations. They have not kept in contact after Seong's emancipation.

Valerie emancipated Seong from the Birdcage but set up her new identity as a daughter of a high level Phoenix Guild deputy, Xu Ming, to keep an eye on both her and the deputy. As such, the two are still in frequent contact, but according to Seong's wishes, Seong is not involved with Phoenix Guild's activites. Or so she was promised...
