AGENT BRIEF
Former US Army line medic turned neurotech. Jasper Shi was honorably discharged from the Army after suffering extensive injuries from an incident with a plasma grenade in the line of duty. After his army service, he began studying Neurotechnology at the University of Beijing. Before he could complete his studies, he was recruited by Valerie to infiltrate her uncle Jin's secret research commission PROJECT:GHOST.
After successfully infiltrating Jin's faction and integrating into both Birdcage and PROJECT:GHOST, he was instrumental in Valerie's takeover of Jin's assets. He was reinstated when Valerie became agent Oriole, and has been put in charge of Valerie's assets at the Birdcage.
Jasper is a fairly weak combatant. Though classified as a researcher type agent, he has undergone evaluation due to previous military enlistment. Since his military discharge, he has not kept up with training and conditioning and is very low rated against other Birdcage agents. He is proficient with firearms but is not particularly skillful with them.
Jasper is a naturally talented tactician and espionage agent. He has a great intuition for profiling others and predicting how they will respond and react. This makes it easy for him to devise coercive strategies against others. Unfortunately, Jasper has a abrasive and self centered exterior that causes most to be wary of him when speaking around him.

Jasper has some programming knowledge due to the nature of his field of research and is able to manipulate and encode data well. He currently manages the Oriole database in lieu of a cyberspecialist, but he is not highly rated for cybersecurity.
Jasper is a very highly rated TECHINT specialist, with proficiences in multiple fields.
His field of speciality is in biomedical engineering (neurotechnology). Much of his research in this field is devoted to developing specialised cybernetics. He developed his own prosthetic arm and participated in the resusitation of REV-1 with PROJECT:GHOST.
As a former medical officer in the army, Jasper has experience with emergency and trauma medicine. He has continued to develop his skills in the medical field, secondary to his neurotechnology research. He has some proficiency with physical therapy, psychology and pyschotherapy.

A simple prosthesis designed by Jasper himself to replace his arm that was traumatically amputated in active duty due to a plasma grenade explosion. The prothetic is made of reinforced carbon fibre capable of stopping low caliber projectiles. It has near perfect functionality with several modular hand replacements and is able to exert much more force than Jasper's natural strength.
At 18, Jasper abandoned his university plans to follow his childhood friend (and suspected love interest), Vincent Chu, into enlist in the US Army as a line medic. He served a tour in the Soviet Block before he and his best friend became casualties in a plasma grenade explosion. Jasper sustained a traumatic amputation of his left arm as well as multiple burn injuries to his face and upper body. His friend, Vincent, did not survive.
The incident left Jasper traumatized with a ruined pysche. He was diagnosed with PTSD and clinical depression as he strugged with survivor's guilt. He refused reconstructive surgery, and unable to live with the guilt of realizing his family's (who had tried strongly to dissuade him from enlisting) worst fears, he moved alone to Beijing to attend university.
During his time in Beijing, he was caught in the midst of a gang turf war. Jasper gave emergency medical aid to a man who turned to be the captain of a small time Triad faction. This faction ended up losing their conflict, and the opposing gang tracked down Jasper, intending to punish him for his assistance to the enemy. The leader of this faction was Valerie, and upon discovering that he was studying neurotechnology, she recognized that she could instead use him to infiltrate her uncle Jin's faction.
She arranged for him to undergo reconstructive surgery to restore his visage and falsied records to transfer him into the research level neurotechnology program at Beijing Univeristy, thereby indebting him to her.
Of Valerie's many double agents, Jasper was the most successful, being able to infiltrate Canary's inner circle at the Birdcage, and even assigned a position in Canary's classified PROJECT:GHOST.
As Jasper assisted in P:G, he was at the same time investigating its Head of Research, Dr Mori Nikka. He secretly ran the prints on their subject, REV-1, and discovered that REV-1's identity was Nicholas Honma, former Navy SEAL. Jasper quickly made the connection between Nicholas Honma and Mori Nikka. Dr. Nikka was an alias for Machiko Honma, Nicholas's sister and Jin's wife. He was also aware that Mockingbird agent Zenith To, was Nicholas's former fiance.
With this information at hand, he began to formulate a strategy that would force Jin's hand to use REV-1 against his own ally in the Birdcage. Before doing so, however, he also convinced Jin that REV-1 needed failsafes, and build in planned contingencies that would activate and disable REV-1 should REV-1 attempt to break control and go rogue.
When Valerie was ready to blitz Jin, Jasper convinced Jin to send REV-1 to assassinate Zenith, claiming that Zenith was a liability. When REV-1 was unable to complete the mission and was grounded temporarily, Jasper led the attack on Canary's faction in the Birdcage, assassinating any members he deemed high risk or low necessity, including personally executing Chase Stern, Jin's hacker and cybersecurity prior to the attack.
Jasper and the remnants of PROJECT:GHOST have now returned to the Birdcage as Oriole agents. After the takeover, Jasper has become a top level strategist and lieutenant in Valerie's ranks both at Birdcage and the Golden Phoenix Guild. His natural ability at subterfuge and double agency has left his associates distrustful of him. Despite this, he has been given full command of Oriole's forces at the Birdcage.
Jasper was the designated neurotechnician on the Project:Ghost team responsible for designing the cybernetic spinal implant for REV-1. Project:Ghost is currently in an inactive state pending transference of leadership, but it is expected that Jasper, who plays a prominent role in the commission, will continue to be reaffliated when it is recommissioned.
Jasper was made into a deputy within the Phoenix due to his contributions in Valerie's coup against Jin Xiao. He commands a small faction within the Phoenix, but has recently been expanding his influence within the Phoenix, causing growing tensions between himself and Valerie.
Jasper served only for a year within the US Military before suffering extensive injuries in the line of duty. He was honorably discharged and rewarded a Purple Heart for his service.

Valerie recruited Jasper into the criminal underworld, a fact that causes him to feel resentful and thankful towards her at the same time. Though he was initially quite cowed, Jasper has found a renewed sense of purpose and accomplishment in his new life.
Despite having worked together in a major coup, they respect each other but neither trusts the other. Valerie is always wary of Jasper and his ever growing ambition.

Jasper is REV-1 (aka Nico Honma)'s handler. Jasper helped design the cybernetic spine that restored brain function to Nico after he suffered a GSW to the neck. Nico is not fully aware of Jasper's involvement in the plan to have him assassinate his fiance, but there is a definite power dynamic in their relationship with Nico knowing that Jasper holds Nico's life or death in his hand.
Jasper has been lenient in allowing Nico to reconnect with Zenith, even administering psychotherapy to restore his memories. Nico's reemerging charismastic personality has given cynical Jasper pause and a renewed hope for the power of human connection.

Mockingbird agent Maria had previously requested Jasper's assistance in rehabilitating her subject and associate Zenith To, in whom she had installed a bionic eye. With Maria becoming the new Head Researcher of PROJECT:GHOST, the two now work together quite closely. They have a bit of a competitive enmity with each other.
Jasper's involvement in betraying his associates at the Birdcage left a significant target on his back. To protect himself, he obtained the services of a bodyguard, Silas (last name unknown). Very little is known about Silas other than his affliation to Jasper.
Like much of his other associates, Silas, has been coerced into working for Jasper. Despite this, the two seem to forming a bond that seems to be romantic in nature, or at least physically intimate.

Seong and Jasper used to be friends as well as associates at the Birdcage. Seong believed Jasper to also be a captive of underworld. She was shocked and horrified when Jasper betrayed Canary. Though she was able to forgive him for facilitating the deaths of their associates, their relationship completely broke down when Jasper mocked her after she tried to convince him to leave the Birdcage with her.
Despite this, he secretly convinced Oriole to allow Seong to leave the Birdcage. After Seong left, they have not kept in contact.

Jasper was first acquainted to Zenith when Maria requested his aid in rehabilitating Zenith after a cybernetic eye replacement. While working with him, Jasper discovered Zenith was wearing the dog tags of Navy SEAL Nicholas Honma, a name that Jasper recognized as the former identity of Project:GHOST's subject, REV-1.
It didn't take much for Jasper to realize the relationship that Nico and Zenith had due to the similarities of his own past. Jasper already disliked Zenith's icy demeanor, and this dislike became fullblown hatred due to jealousy. He was very cruel to Zenith for the duration of Zenith's rehabilition, and the two went their seperate ways after with much amnosity.
The pair hate each other and can't stand to be in each other's presence. Unfortunately for Zenith, there's not much he can do against Jasper while Jasper controls Nico's well-being.
