Personality

Jan-Paul is a spoiled brat first, super surprising sharp businessman second. He's the head of most of the Gold mines of the entire Northern-pact. Makes him incredibly rich. He lost his parents at a young age, JP was mainly raised by his maids, butlers, and counselors. He's out of touch with his peers and lower classes. He's a stick in the mud, a bit of a brat, that lived a very sheltered life. JP has a legacy, and an enormous one at that, to uphold. He maneuvers between the old Starq' aristocrats and rich Krett's while desperately trying to blend in. But an Easterling like him sticks out like a sore thumb.

History

Jan-Paul's mother died after giving birth to him. His father died 2 years later, leaving Jan-Paul in the hands of his maids and staff. His close family and his counselors kept the show running while JP grew up. He lived a very sheltered life, hardly interacting with his peers, let alone making friends. Making his social interactions loud, brisk, and uncut. He'd been homeschooled for most of the time. As he never left the family home for a long period of time until he went to university at an age of 14. Oh ya, the lad got a big brain, I know you won't say it right away but the kid is smart. Slowly, JP got molded in becoming the heir of the Gold-empire his parents left him. He learned about his family, about their shady "methods" they used to get a grip on the Gold industry, their cutthroat ways to keep their employers in check. He learned how a family of Easterlings ended up in Drakenburg. A thing his family, that didn't shy away from criminal activities, didn't talk about however was a certain bastard that was rooted in their family tree like a rotten branch. When Jp finally heard the stories about this uncle, a thief, gang leader, murder, which peaked Jp's interest. He was the first one who reached out, with letters.

The Herthog
When Nathaniel moved to Drakenburg things didn't go as Jp had planned. Turns out his bastard, murder uncle, wasn't as welcomed in his close court as Jp had expected. On the contrary even. His advisers, close allies and leftover family decided to go as far as banning the man. This didn't stop the two though. They met in secret and started to work closely together. While Nathaniel takes care of Jp's political enemies (he makes them  ""disappear""), JP take care of the financial side of things. Now at the peak of his power, being 21 and therefore being in full control of his parent's heritage and the wealth it gives him plus his murder uncle (who has his..own agenda and kinda, wants to overthrow JP maybe, maybe he grows a heart before the actual overthrowing who knows? Not me! I'm the author but I have nó clue), at his side Jp felt brave enough to host the annual "koopsmanfeest" (merchantfeast) at his mansion. Drakenburg's most important party. He's blissfully unaware that some of his guests want more than just a slice of cake.

Fun Facts

Jan-Paul is a painter by heart. It has always been his true passion, and he practices a lot. Though, painting and being a painter is frowned upon in Drakenburg's highborn society, so he /tries/ to keep it a secret. He's good at painting, though. Especially landscapes. He's not good at music (a rich folk passion that isn't frowned upon) and even had Xander mentoring him for a bit. He's intrested in the occult.
