Profile
Reo generally comes off as calm and collected. He appears to be standoffish, but he's just shy and would rather not approach others first. It appears that he isn't very fond of small talk and usually keeps to himself, but in actuality, he's probably spacing out. If it is about a topic he is a passionate about, his eccentric side comes out. Despite usually being composed, his personality does a complete 360 and he becomes straightforward and obsessive. He is quite confrontational and quick to defend his opinions, though it's quite easy to sway his mind. A tsundere, he'd rather die than face the embarrassement of admitting his feelings. Reo tries his best to be acknowledged as an adult. He has a bit of an inferiority complex due to his upbringing and others' criticisms greatly affect him. He maintains the public image of someone who is capable, mature and elegant, but in reality, he needs someone to baby him. He will only show his vulnerable, childish side to someone he'd trust his life with.
Reo has pale grey hair with bangs that flip towards the left. On either side of his head, he has deer ears and silver antlers. He has an average build, and stands at about 5'10 / 178cm. Right under his ear on the left side, there is a black rose. He has a matching black rose as his tail. He has a mole on the bottom left of his mouth and the birthmark (爱) on the back of his right hand, though it is usually covered by a pair of white gloves. He usually is accompanied by his violin. Reo's usual clothes consists of a dark-grey button-up shirt with a silver trim, a grey blazer, light-grey pants and dark shoes. He also wears a silver pendant, usually tucked into his shirt.
Reo was born to a world-famous violinist and his foreign trophy wife. His mother had no interest in raising him or his younger brother and their father was often away, only returning to berate them for their lack of skill in their instruments. Due to this, Reo was forced to grow up quickly and provide his brother with the familial love that they lacked. In order to please his father, Reo practiced hard to be a violinist that his father could be proud of. No matter how much he tried, his father always picked his performances apart, telling him that his music had "no emotion, love or passion." Through his constant failure to please, Reo developed an inferiority complex that manifested as an argumentative and cold persona to mask his insecurities. He grew to resent his birthmark, the character 爱 meaning love, as it was something he lacked so much of in his life. Covering it up with white gloves, he decided that it meant nothing to him and he'd continue to isolate himself. Attending a music academy, he made sure to distance himself from classmates and train to become a soloist. He also distanced himself from his family, moving into his own apartment and cutting contact with them. One day on a whim, he decided to take a stroll through a different part of town and happened to get a glimpse of a young man surrounded by falling maple leaves. Falling in love with him at first sight and struck by inspiration to compose music, Reo knew that his previous vow to not let his birthmark affect him was broken. He spent time getting to know the other, eventually becoming lovers. Their relationship allowed for Reo to slowly shed his cold exterior to become more open and free.
Tsubaki is Reo's lover. Only around Tsubaki, Reo is very spoilt and clingy. Because Tsubaki showers him with unconditional love, he's become quite posessive of him and wants to monopolize his attention all for himself. Despite his childishness, Reo wants to be viewed as an adult in Tsubaki's eyes. Reo feels incompetent and tries hard to become someone that Tsubaki can rely on. Often cooks, cleans and gives Tsubaki massages. Loves it when Tsubaki praises him and when he calls him cute pet names. Shyly calls Tsubaki "my Honey" or "my Honey Bunny".
Seishi is Reo's cousin-in-law and good friend. Despite his adversion to social interaction, Reo tried his best to make a good impression on one of Tsubaki's only family members. Reo has been a huge fan of Seishi's novels for years and has many collectors editions of his books. Seishi often consults him on his manuscripts for new novels he's writing.
Reo doesn't make a huge effort to get to know Mahiro, but he considers him a friend. He's happy that Mahiro also cherishes Tsubaki and is a close friend of his, but he sometimes feels jealous that Mahiro is taking away Tsubaki's attention from him. For Tsubaki and Seishi's sake, he doens't spite Mahiro (too much). Mahiro seems to be completely unaware of Reo's jealousy.
