Mahiro is cheerful and decisive young man. He is kindhearted and reliable, giving off the "mom friend" aura. Despite his friendliness, he's a true free spirit and very independent. Mahiro takes life at his own pace and hates to be tied down to one thing due to his fickle nature. He has a natural thirst for exploration, often disappearing on months on end on one of his "adventures." Being an extreme optimist, he always sees the bright side of things and has an infectious positivity. Mahiro is talkative and friendly, being able to strike up conversations with just about anyone, though some find him noisy or annoying. He occasionally goes by Ichikishima Mahiro when travelling.
Mahiro has messy, medium-length, reddish-orange hair that gradiates to yellow-white towards his face. He also has a long ponytail and a small braided lock of hair on the left side of his face. He has matching fox ears and a long, fluffy tail with orange orchids. Mahiro has an athletic build and dark skin. On his right cheek, under his reddish-orange eyes, is his birthmark 火. His usual outfit consists of a black turtleneck crop-top under a patterned orange kimono with a dark obi. Attached to his obi is a silver chain with circular links and a silver ring attached. He wears black pants and boots that gradiate from red to black with a yellow circular motif. Mahiro has a lean build and stands at 5'10/178 cm.
Mahiro comes from a village in the countryside with strong traditional values. Being the only son of the village chief, he was to be the next chief of the village and was raised as such since he was young. Mahiro always hated the strict teaching and longed to see the world outside of the village. He grit his teeth and bore with the pressures of chiefdom to please his family and his people, but as his coronation ceremony fast approached, he couldn't take it anymore. He decided to abdicate his position to his distant cousin, Kiyosumi, who he believed was better suited for the role of chieftian than him. He left his village to go on a self-seeking adventure. During his travels, he came across an abandoned on top of a mountain and ended up saving a man who had collapsed inside. Having become close with the other, Mahiro decided to put his journey on hold and stay with the other for the time being.
Seishi is Mahiro's lover. Mahiro prides himself in being the only one who can push the stubborn Seishi to do anything. Mahiro is Seishi's everything and keeps his life in order. Without Mahiro around to take care of him, Seishi would be barely be able to function. Being an adventurer by nature, Mahiro hates to be tied down and likes to do his own thing, much to Seishi's displeasure. Mahiro is well aware of this and likes to go out for long periods of time so Seishi is extra clingy and affectionate when he gets back. He doesn't mind taking care of Seishi and it makes him happy to see someone rely on him.
Tsubaki and Mahiro are close friends. They became fast friends as soon as Seishi introducedd them to each other. Mahiro's infectious energy helps Tsubaki break out of his reserved shell. They have a lot of hobbies in common and always end up wearing themselves after. Mahiro affectionately calls Tsubaki "Tsukki."
Reo and Mahiro aren't very close but consider each other friends. They bond over their mutual love for Tsubaki. Mahiro is very grateful that Reo is friends with Seishi since Seishi is often isolated in the house.
Kiyosumi is Mahiro's distant cousin. Mahiro sees Kiyosumi as his adorable little brother even though Kiyosumi has surpassed him in height. Mahiro was never too keen on the idea of becoming the chief of his village and was always bound by his wanderlust for the outside world. Though he felt guilty of leaving the burden of the role on Kiyosumi, he felt that Kiyosumi would make a much better chief than he would. He supported Kiyosumi from behind the scenes and was proud to see that he became a chief that could lead their village to prosper. Kiyosumi often comes to visit him and they often catch up.
