Arwen is a Macrotermes exterminator. Although most Megalotis farm these little bugs to use in different dishes, sometimes they can get out of control or pop up in places they aren't welcome, and that's where Arwen comes in. He will take out all the workers and the queen for a small fee, looking like he is having a blast as he does so. If you want a tale-telling, half-eared, and slightly crazed Megalotis to take out your bug problem, then he is your Vulpes.

From a young age, Arwen had always been fascinated with the Macrotermes. As he helped out with the family farm he would take time to watch the little bugs wandering around on the ground and make up little stories about them. Often these stories ended with a giant monster coming by and eating them all up, giving him an excuse to have a nice snack of Macrotermes before heading back to work.

As he grew older, he found that he understood the bugs better than the other farmers. This isn't to say that he empathized with them, but rather he could read their movements better and knew how to avoid being bitten as well as how to work with the Macrotermes mounds without angering the queen.

At first, the other farmers around town were the only ones that would ask for his help when it came to taking care of enraged or wild Macrotermes mounds. But after a while word had spread that he had the magic touch when dealing with them and other Megalotis farmers from other towns would ask, and even pay him to help them deal with their bug problems. Wanting to help out his fellow Megalotis and always in need of a few extra sides, Arwen would always take these extra jobs. These external jobs were always much harder than the jobs he did around his town, but they also gave him something that smaller jobs didn't, an adrenalin rush.

Pretty soon he got addicted to fighting queens and taking out nuisance nests. Just plain old farming was no longer enough for him. After all, why sit there making up stories for little bugs when you could be IN one of the stories fighting the bugs? Wanting to explore this new field and follow the excitement he left his family farm and started traveling from town to town looking for jobs within the Megalotis farming community.

It was slow going at first but eventually, he made a name for himself as a Vulpes who could take out even the nastiest of queen Mactotermes and at a fairly reasonable rate. He soon had a constant flow of work, allowing him to have adventures nearly every day.

However, on one of his jobs, he got sloppy. He had received so much work that he hadn't had time to truly rest between jobs and was exhausted going into his next job. As he attempted to thin out a farmer's Macrotermes mound he started to doze off, this mistake caused him to miss the signs of the queen getting angered and she erupted out of the ground attacking him. The two fought wildly with one another and although the queen managed to rip off part of his right ear he was able to take her out and win the fight.

Worn out and losing a lot of blood he pulled himself back to the nearby town and passed out. After about 2 weeks the town doctor was able to stabilize him. The farmer who the mound belonged to had managed to take out the rest of the mound after Arawn had taken out the queen and gave him her mandibles in exchange for her taking his ear.

Arwen used these mandibles to make a new weapon that he would rarely be without from that day forward. Attaching them to a glove, the mandibles not only allowed him to stab deeply into any unexpected foe, but also with help from some Animalia particles they let him to grab onto enemies to prevent them from running away.

Because of his accident, Arwen slowed down his workload to something more manageable so that he wouldn't be caught off guard again. He still takes as many jobs as he reasonably can. However, if he is unsure if he can do something on his own, he will ask around for an extra hand to make sure that he doesn't lose his other good ear as well. When he isn't working he can often be found in an inn or on the side of the road regaling others of his adventures and fights. Sometimes they are exaggerated, but as he ends each story with the phrase, ' or at least that's what they say down in Bonewatch' it's hard to tell what stories are true and what ones are not.

*(the phrase 'or at least that's what they say down in Bonewatch' is a common thing Magalotis will say when telling tall tales much like the phrase 'once upon a time' only it comes at the end of the story.)

1) if a PC (player character) wishes to play as Arwen his call to adventure could consist of him wanting a different kind of thrill or to learn a different way of fighting as he has grown bored of fighting just Macrotermes. It may be worth tagging along with another group of adventures to learn how to fight things that aren't Macrotermes before he jumps into it all on his own.

2) Alternatively he could lose his other ear making it so he is unable to track Macrotermes anymore and thus must find a new way to make money. Perhaps sticking around with a group of adventures could still allow him to have some thrills while always having someone there to watch his back as he is now a bit hard of hearing.

If no call to adventure is heeded then he will likely spend most of his life working with Macrotermes and hunting them down before one day a large swarm of them get the better of him and drag them into their nest where he is never heard from again.

main outfit | Arwen wears tall reddish brown boots with seams on their outer edge and dark brown soles. His pants are high-waisted and a rich light brown. His undershirt is a lightweight fabric that sinches at the top, its color being a pale brown, almost off-white. He often wears a dark brown jacket that has long sleeves and an extra shall around his shoulders. The coat also has a tall collar and tapers down in the back, all this coverage is to help prevent bites from his foes. His top hat is a similar reddish brown color as his boots and has a bronze trim. He also wears a bronze necklace. On his right hand, his weapon of choice can often be found, it being a reddish orange glove with two gray queen Macrotermes pincers attached to it and a bronze button to keep it attached to his wrist. If he closes his fist the pincers also close and can hold tightly onto a foe to prevent them from running. he also has a belt that wraps around both his waist and left leg that has a bag attached to it for emergency items. His second favored weapon is a silver serrated dagger with a bronze hilt that has two sharp edges that point away from him as well as a bronze pommel.

His subspecies is Megalotis and he has blue modern eyes. He also only has half of his right ear as it was bitten off in a fight. Basic species reference sheet can be found here. Please look at this for common details people miss when drawing this species.

this song relates to the rush he feels when he is fighting the queen Macrotermes as well as him thinking about their thought process.
