Sunflower was a warrior of ShadowClan. She is the daughter of Mosquitoclaw and Marigoldblaze, sister of Crowmask, and became the mate of Depthwater. She gave birth to Snakekit, Brownkit, and Blackkit. She took in Deserve, Boost, and Song, but after Deserve killed Snakekit, disowned the latter two. She grieved for Snakekit.
Moons later, she was killed by Deserve while on a border patrol. In death, Sunflower ascended to StarClan.
Sunflower is a ginger tabby she-cat with yellow eyes.

Sunflower is usually kind and understanding. She is a loving mother and couldn't turn down kits in need. After Snakekit died, in a state of anger and grief, she wanted Boost and Song thrown out of the Clan and nearly attacked them. Normally she would never consider harming a kit. She grew very protective of Brownkit and Blackkit.

Depthstar is Sunflower's mate. She loved and was very proud of him when he became leader.
Brownstripe is Sunflower's son. After Snakekit's death, she became fiercely protective of him, and Brownkit and Blackkit were shaken for some time, keeping close to their mother.
Blackstorm is Sunflower's son. After Snakekit's death, she became fiercely protective of him, and Blackkit and Brownkit were shaken for some time, keeping close to their mother.
Snakekit is Sunflower's son. She grieved terribly when he was killed by Deserve and refused to care for Boost and Song any longer, becoming hostile toward them and fiercely protective of Blackkit and Brownkit.

Kithood
Sunkit is born in ShadowClan to Mosquitoclaw and Marigoldblaze alongside her brother, Crowkit.
Warrior
She eventually earns her warrior name, Sunflower. During the time of Bone Shred's attacks on the Clans, she mentors Rosebreeze. She becomes the mate of Depthwater and gives birth to Snakekit, Brownkit, and Blackkit.
One night when Bone Shred's Gang attacked the ShadowClan camp, Sunflower pushed Snakekit, Blackkit, and Brownkit into their nest and told them to hide while she joined the fight.
She initially felt Stormstar was putting the whole Clan in danger by accepting Poisoned Sap. She is very proud when Depthstar becomes leader.
Accepting Deserve
When Deserve, Boost, and Song are accepted into ShadowClan, Sunflower sympathizes and volunteers to take them in with her three. She's very kind and gentle towards them, promising to love them as if they were her own. Though she orders her kits to be polite towards the outsiders, she's unaware of their ruthless bullying.
Protective Mother
Sunflower is stunned and devastated at Snakekit's death. In a state of grief and motherly instinct, she disowns and nearly attacks Song and Boost and wants them thrown out of ShadowClan. As she grieves for Snakekit, she is furiously hostile toward Boost and Song and overly protective of Brownkit and Blackkit.
Death
Moons later, Sunflower is on a border patrol with Crowmask and Foxpaw when Deserve launches an attack on them, specifically targeting Sunflower.
She's pained and furious as she circles him, asking why he killed Snakekit when she took him in. Deserve tells her how her kits mocked him for losing their mother, and now he's going to show them how it feels. He kills Sunflower with a bite to the throat.
- Before Depthstar asked Bloomfire to raise Bloodkit, she had hoped Diamondrain or Sunflower might raise him. (Shadows of Blood, prologue)
- Sunflower, Snakekit, Blackstorm, and Brownstripe were all killed by Deserve.
- Hawkfeather told the other medicine cats how Deserve killed Sunflower. Spicewhisker sympathizes, noting how Sunflower took Deserve in and lost Snakekit. He notes that she hunts safely with StarClan now. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 6)
