About

Joey is a rough, gruff, stoic lady. She's not someone to be messed with for sure -- she's very tough! Everybody knows her is aware that the last thing they should do with Joey is end up on her bad side! Thankfully, staying on her good side isn't very hard... she's an internal softie! She may look tough, and to give credit where it's due, she is quite tough, but she's also a HUGE sucker for cute things! She'll never express it, though... but just know that whenever Joey sees something cute and has a little pink tint on her cheeks, she's internally squealing and screaming with joy!

In terms of career, Joey is a failure. KIDDING!!!! Well, kind of. Joey came from a long line of Nurse Joys, but they weren't able to carry on this legacy. They don't care, though -- they're very pleased with the path they've taken. They're a musician and a visual artist, specializing in painting and illustration. They loveto draw and paint portraits of Pokémon and their trainers, but they really makes her money off of her music. They're quite the accomplished solo artist, and as quite the lone wolf, they greatly prefer to keep it that way. Alongside their creative endeavors, Joey is also a proficient battler. They finds it fun to lightheartedly bully trainers. Their team consists of a Krookodile, a shiny low key form Toxtricity, Obstagoon, Scrafty, Grafaiai, and her ace, which is oddly true to her roots, a Blissey.

Backstory

past

Joey was born in Hoenn, specifically Verdanturf Town, to a huge family of Nurse Joys. Her mother, sisters, grandmothers, aunts and cousins were all Nurse Joys. Even the majority of her family friends were Nurse Joys! Her father, grandfathers, and uncles all worked in hospital/clinic settings, so she really couldn't "escape" her eventual fate as a Nurse Joy... or could she? Despite being given all the possible prep to become a nurse, there was one thing that Joey's family couldn't exactly change about her: her personality. Her personality essentially made it impossible for her to have good bedside manner! Her gruff, stoic side was definitely not fit for a nurse, and while her internal demeanor was more pleasant, it still was inappropriate for someone working as a nurse! When Joey entered nursing school, she aced everything except for things related to her bedside manner! Much to the dismay and protest of her family, she dropped out of nursing school, packed up all of her things, and moved to Galar, settling in Spikemuth. While residing in Spikemuth, she delved herself into her true passion: music and art. She'd spend hours at home writing songs and teaching herself to play guitar, and when she wasn't doing that, she was nestled in the corner of a Pokémon Center, sketching portraits of passersby and their teams.

Present

Currently, Joey still lives in Spikemuth with their girlfriend Bunnie. They haven't spoken with their family in 5 years, but they don't necessarily need to! Bunnie is their family now ♡ And Bunnie's family is their family too! And even then, Joey has a wonderful support group of friends, who love them very much. In terms of career, Joey is now an accomplished musician and has toured all around the world. They also keep up with their art on the side, doing whatever it may take to carve out time in their day to paint, draw, or even just sketch. They're very happy with how their life has turned out, despite all the difficult times they had to get through, just to make it this far.

Bunnie Babbitt [ Girlfriend ]

Joey's girlfriend of 8 years. The two have been practically inseparable since they initially met -- there was just something about how gruff Joey is that caught Bunnie's eye. Bunnie's own sweetness was quite attractive to Joey herself, too -- after all, she did love cute things. The two spend almost all of their time together, with Bunnie tagging along with Joey whenever she went to work, be it at a local venue or even in an entirely different region!

Ollie [ Friend/Crush-y Type Figure

Ollie is a fellow expat living in Galar after dealing with a rough family life in her early years. Joey and Ollie both confide in each other over their past grievances, but of course, their friendship goes much beyond that. In Joey's case, it actually goes much, much, much beyond that... they can't help but find Ollie very cute, which internal gets their squealy, fangirly side going. They have a tiny little crush on Ollie, but unfortunately for them, she's not entirely interested -- she doesn't want to intrude on their relationship! Which is a bit funny, because Bunnie harbors pretty intense-yet-platonic feelings for Ollie herself. Either way, Ollie has no qualms with doing mushy stuff with them, but she'd never date them... Though the good thing is that all the mushy stuff just strengthens their friendships~.

Avery [ Friend ]

Ollie's beloved husband. Ollie decided to introduce him to Joey due to their very similar familial problems. Avery's family is disappointed in his very few psychic skills, which Joey really resonates with, considering her family is disappointed in her inability to continue their Nurse Joy lineage. Both of them really confide in each other, happy to know that they aren't alone in their experiences... though, it didn't entirely start that way. They didn't hate each other, but Avery was regrettably a bit scared of Joey at first... he couldn't help it, though! She is primarily a dark type trainer, which he, of course, finds absolutely ghastly. Thankfully, he was able to get over his silly fear and the two have been great friends ever since... which Ollie gloats about almost all the time~.

Vivienne Castillon [ Friend ]

A friend of Ollie's, who met Joey while on one of her trips to Galar. Vivienne was quite excited to meet them -- she actually wanted something from them. Ollie had let her know that Joey was an artist, which made Vivi very eager to commission them. She wanted to display some art in her cafe, and upon seeing Joey's portfolio, she knew they were perfect for the job! Joey was honestly a bit nervous about her commission... not that it was difficult to pull off or anything, but the thought of having to draw and paint cute maid girls doing cute maid things made Joey's squealy side practically insane! They were able to do it, though, much to Vivi's delight. Vivi was actually so happy, she offered to fly Joey and Bunnie out to Unova for Joey to have a very short gig at the cafe -- not a music gig, but an art gig. Vivi thought having Joey sketch customers' portraits would draw in crowds, so Joey took up her offer and off they went! Their sketch gig went very well, and from there, Vivi and Joey became rather good friends.
