Yska's Links
In his life, Yska is always the one in control. With Ren around, that sentence transforms into the past tense. He finds Ren extremely disturbing, particularly in his ability to read his mind, and somewhat regrets getting involved with Carmen in the first place. Still, the thought of leeching the life force of an immortal is an intoxicating thought, one that he finds difficult to resist. The other thing he finds hard to resist is his attraction to Ren, though it is tempered by a persistent feeling of pure terror. To say the least, his emotions are very jumbled.
"Why so scared, little lamb? I’m simply an old fox with no bite…"
Ren originally approached Yska with the intention to intimidate him a little, to deter any sinister plans he may harbour for Carmen. After that though, the entity's basically popping up in the skater's life just to ruin his day, because hey - creeping out Yska is fun! He also finds Yska's attraction towards him to be quite amusing, finding it comical that the skater wants him as much as he loathes him. That mess of emotions within Yska regarding Ren only makes the latter much more interested in messing with him...
Initially, Yska saw Carmen as little more than a potential food source, enamored by the prospect of draining another immortal's life force and the prosperity such an arrangement could bring. Now, though, things are a little more... complicated. For one thing, he genuinely does like Carmen, remarkably won over by his enchanting aura. Moreover, though, Carmen turned out to be incredibly dedicated to Ren, a being whose presence Yska (mostly) loathes. Still, he remains drawn in by both Carmen's good nature and the prospect of gorging himself on the infinite soul of a god, wary as he is of Ren. Suffice it to say that Yska has gotten himself caught up in quite the web.
"I usually get along with everyone, but Yska... he's truly something else, isn't he?"
Carmen likes Yska and is completely oblivious to any devious plans that this "human" has for him. Even if he knew, the god isn't likely to care because he genuinely enjoys Yska's company - it's very rare for him to simply just click with someone from the get go even with his rather friendly disposition - Not to mention that Yska is quite cute too! Carmen is also oblivious to the fact that the skater and Ren had gotten into an altercation in the past over HIM, as well as the sheer terror Yska has regarding Ren. Still, there's not much the god could do at this point, since it's technically not his problem anymore. He just wants to have a good time with his new friend.
Upon first meeting Alistair, he knew that there was no chance he was getting his soul- not if Ren had anything to say about it. Not even a sliver of it. So, why bother? Well, there was something compelling about the caged bird- his situation as much as his personality. Yska couldn't help but be curious about him and a bit charmed, despite an overwhelming feeling of pity that he strove to suppress. He enjoys chatting with Alistair and losing at chess to him, and the pair get along well enough, despite Alistair's newfound awareness that Yska is not what he seems. As strange as it is, and despite the strain between them, this is probably the most genuine and unconditional relationship Yska has at the moment.
"... Another abomination, disguised as a human. Still, his company isn't bad... I do enjoy chatting with him."
What's with Alistair always running into supernatural entities? At least Yska's a nice one - the pet has to begrudgingly admit that the skater's presence is comforting despite the burning envy in his stomach over Yska's achievements. It also helps that the creature once took a bullet for him to save his life, something which Alistair is rather grateful for. Just this once, the pet decided to put his prejudice for supernatural creatures aside for this mysterious man with the warm doe eyes and enchanting smile.
It doesn't take a genius to look at Yukio and see someone unhinged, violent, desperate to satisfy his bloodlust. Exactly what Yska likes. He is flattered by Yukio's self-serving obsession and seeks to stoke the flames of it whenever possible. It's strange to see a relationship where one dies at the other's hand over and over, yet has their killer wrapped around their finger. In Yukio he finds not only pleasure but also the thing he's been wanting for so long: everlasting life. However, that's not where it ends. The seething, inexhaustible hatred contained within Yukio's soul is as volatile as it is fascinating for Yska, and sates his hunger just fine with every death. Yska regards Yukio's proclamations of violence and destruction the way one would react to being penned a beautiful sonnet, addicted as he is to the priest's unique capability for hatred. And yet, Yska loves him, too. It's not like it was with any of those humans. Not this time. If Yukio is obsessed with him, then Yska is obsessed right back, though he doesn't display it with near as much volatility. Chipping away steadily at Yukio's soul, his feelings are nevertheless warm and affectionate. This wasn't the plan- not at all. But is it so bad?
"I will find you always, Yska, and I will draw your blood with my teeth again and again."
Okay. It’s gotten even more complicated. Cruelty, obsession.. Yska brings out the worst of Yukio’s worst. When Yukio’s around him, he can’t help himself; he hates how Yska reduces his restraint, hates how he makes him feel, and by extension hates Yska altogether. All the same, Yukio thrives off hatred, particularly his own capability to feel it— and there is no one that brings it out quite like Yska. Yska utterly captivates Yukio, who himself has a fine appreciation of his beauty, and an equal appreciation of wrecking it. Strangely still, Yukio’s hatred of Yska manifests with such a carnal fervor that it is almost reverent and affectionate; Yukio worships Yska’s immortal body, and the artful ways in which he can mutilate him. Grappling with feelings he can't understand, the sadistic priest is highly possessive of Yska; too greedy, in fact, to realize that Yska gets more than just physical contentment out of his reckless, bloody violence.
Yska finds Ciao immensely entertaining, for one thing, and that's enough of a reason to hang around her. He appreciates her antics where Yukio does not, though perhaps it's fair to say he can mostly handle them in small doses. He mostly encounters her while around Yukio, so they don't get to spend too much time together- and he feels a bit bad for how frustrated Yukio seems to get in her presence. Still, he likes Ciao, and would accept the title of 'tentative bro' as accurate. He's still not sure what's up with Ciao not touching him.
The best way Ciao can describe her thoughts on about Yska is.. he's a tentative bro? Yeah. Sounds about right. Ciao and Yska are alike in many ways, but different in many more, with their commonality being their keen interest in a certain methodist priest. In any case, Ciao finds Yska funny for the most part and respects that, despite being associated with Yukio, he seems capable enough to form his own opinions, especially about her. Still, you won't catch her even trying to touch him; she saw only once the true nature of his soul, and can't bear to think of seeing it again.
"Ugh."
"A rogue creature, up to some... strange behavior. Behavior that is ultimately harmless, but peculiar nonetheless. I suppose there is no accounting for taste. Regardless, I am not under orders to *remove* him, and so I find him very entertaining to simply observe. I show up from time to time, just to check on him and see how he's doing." :)
"Oh, I know of... it? Ah, him?" Yska hasn't met Ariel, but it's impossible not to be aware of his existence. Unlike most eldritch beings, his feelings toward him are quite positive- after all, without him this planet would no longer exist, and with it the rich tapestry of experiences for Yska to have. Little does he know the extent to which Ariel's curse has now afflicted his astral form- but how much would he really mind?
If Ariel is aware of Yska at all, he's unaware of his eldritch nature. Though he could sense it if the two were in proximity to each other, he can't detect such things through video footage, which is the only time he'd be likely to see him. This is fortunate for Yska, who would doubtless have his cover blown and need to assume a new identity.
