"Angel Game"--It's said to be a game where one could gain the ability to control powerful elements by having a magical, circle-shaped symbol on their left hand called the "Angel's Heart". However, it was discovered that the price you pay to play this game is by having a certain "misfortune"; and that alone became the reason why the game is frowned upon society--saying it's the source of these misfortunes or the sign of an upcoming war between mankind. One day, Kokoro found herself owning the rumored Angel's Heart...after facing her biggest loss...

His policy is to fight everything by the "truth", yet, the low-profile Rai is more than it meets the eyes once he started showing his strength in Angel Gaming. Seems to be another student of St. Angel, a boarding school exclusively made for Angel Gamers.
Personality
Among his circle, Rai is often seen as the most level-headed and quiet--that is, until his true self is revealed through the words from his mouth. Abiding his own rule of "never tell a lie", he's quick to tell anything and everything from his thoughts, even if it often come off as quite harsh and critical--angering almost anyone he speaks to. This also aligns with Rai's lack of empathy and attachment towards anyone, as he sees everyone around him merely as his opponents and never plan on considering them as his friends or ally.
His cruel and merciless nature is not limited to only his words, but his actions as well. In order to make everyone face the "real pain" of Angel Game, he's willing to fight or even hurt his opponents until they're badly injured, often with zero signs of remorse. He refuses to see Angel Game as a sort of a fun hobby or entertainment and hates it when people treat it as one, and he believes that letting others experience the same "scars" as he did is the only way people would know the painful truth behind this unfortunate game.

Backstory
Rai once mentioned that his past self was the person he hated the most--so much so that he no longer thinks his current and old self should be considered the same person.
View spoilerRai used to live with his parents; where he was often neglected by his own father and abused by his stepmother. In addition, he was also a constant bullying victim at his school--leaving Rai no safe place to rely on that he was often almost afraid to wake up every day, not wanting to face both his parents and classmates. One day, Rai was finally pressured to a breaking point and decided to run away from his own home. Although, things did not get better as Rai was frequently beaten up by other strangers and delinquents in the streets. On the last day of Rai's homeless life, he was beaten up by the same strangers again--this time to the point of almost killing him, but during his last conscious moment; Rai ended up gaining his Angel's Heart, rendering everyone around him paralyzed due to the desperate use of his newly gained powers.
Since that day, Rai swore that he will never repeat the same painful, scarred past again. He continued to blame his past self for being a coward who always lies and runs away from everything, and every "misfortune" he faced was a punishment for his weak self--and a severe reminder for him to never forgive anyone ever again.
Current story
Rai is one of the major antagonist of the 2nd arc--he couldn't care any less about winning in Angel Gaming; but his sole motivation in the story is to spread his "revenge" towards this unfair and foul world by fighting in Angel Game. To him, the one who lies and take advantages of others who are weak are nothing but "cowards"--and cowards should never be the ones that can survive in this cruel reality.
His antagonistic role also mainly stems from his disagreement and distaste towards Angel Game being treated as a form of sports or entertainment--as he felt like every Angel Gamers unjustifiably faced through many misfortunes and lost many things to obtain their powers, and it should've never been treated as a mere "game".

Facts
- His last name, "Toyosato" (豊郷) uses the kanji for "bountiful" and "town".
- His first name seems to be a play on the kanji 雷 ("rai", lit. "lightning; thunder") as well as the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "lie".
- It was revealed that "Rai" is only an alias and not his actual first name. His reason of using such alias is purely out of spite, as he named himself after something he hates to serve as a sort of "reminder"...?
- He is often seen eating various kind of dagashi, ranging from small snacks like konpeito and umaibo, to drinks like ramune, and "meals" like butamen.
- He grew fondness towards dagashi in particular because back then, they were the only food he could buy with his own money. Apparently, even the old lady who owns the dagashi-ya he frequented to often give some of them for free and occassionally cook lunch for him.

Ayumu Yukishiro
Classmates
Both are often mistaken to be close friends due to Ayumu's habit of frequently pestering Rai whenever she's bored. However, Rai doesn't seem to care for Ayumu in the slightest and even expressed his annoyance towards her clingy attitude, although lately he tends to ignore her altogether.
Kiyo Tsukimori
Roommates
While they have knew each other for quite some time due to being roommates, the fact they were grouped together for an assignment definitely increased their constant bickering more than anything. Although, often times it ends up being a repeating cycle of Kiyo starting the arguement due to his annoyance with Rai's personality and Rai "winning" against him by mocking Kiyo's (lack of) intelligence.
Kokoro Hidamari
Rivals...?
While he respected Kokoro in some degree, he doesn't hide the fact that he sees Kokoro as his biggest nemesis. He once claimed that Kokoro is exactly the reflection of "someone" he despises...?
