Personality

Cheerful and friendly towards his peers, Haruki is considered by those around him as someone who is easy to get along with and a good listener, being able to lift anyone's mood. He appears to always have a smile on his face, and rarely gets upset with others. He often accepts things and people as they are, and has a great amount of empathy for them. 

Haruki tries his best to always think optimistically, and doesn't like to show his anger or annoyance towards others, in fear that it would paint him as arrogant and condescending. he has a great fear of hurting those around him and tries his best to be there for his friends. Thus he is often considered as the mood maker and therapist friend, and finds it hard to break out of that role. As much as he enjoys being relied on and asked for advice, he longs for someone who he feels comfortable with sharing his own burdens with as well. 

Due to him being so used to bottling up his emotions, he finds it difficult to identify his emotional fluctuations, and to describe his feelings. in words. He however is very sensitive to the emotions of others, and expresses concern for them if they ever show signs of distress.

history

Early years

As a child, Haruki was raised by caring but strict parents, who believed strongly in learning through punishment. When reprimanded, Haruki would be forced to kneel with his hands up to repent on his mistakes. and would be further chastised if he dared to shed a tear. Haruki would eventually learn to dissociate whenever he was scolded, in an attempt to emotionally distance himself from the situation, which he thought aided him in dealing with his emotions. This however caused him to develop a habit of hiding his feelings away instead of addressing the situation at hand.

Pre-Yumenosaki 

Haruki had always had an interest in showbiz due to his mother being a former theatrical actress, and would beg his mother to teach him everything she knew. He started to take violin and singing lessons in his first year of junior high, and soon after expressed an interest in enrolling in Yumenosaki, all of which were met with the encouragement of his mother.

Haruki's father at this time however, paid less and less attention to both him and his mother, never praising Haruki for his achievements or showing support for his artistic endeavours, and started to spend less and less time at home. He eventually filed for divorce. Haruki's mother, in a state of shock and disbelief, pinned the blame of the divorce on Haruki's incompetence, making him believe that him wanting to pursue a career in the performing arts industry was the reason for his father walking out on them. The two would later find out that the reason for Haruki's father's behaviour was because he had an extramarital affair with another woman. With this information, Haruki would continue to pursue his dream. However, the incident caused Haruki to develop abandonment and inferiority issues, and he started to act friendlier to others while bottling his emotions up further to make himself more likeable and amiable to the public.

Ryuu (“ryuu”) - Haruki loves Ryuu very much as a fellow unit mate and considers him as one of his best friends. He enjoys being doted on by Ryuu and always looks forward to having lunch with him. Haruki is also usually the first to notice when Ryuu’s social battery goes out and will pull out a snack for him in hopes of replenishing his senior’s energy.

Yuno (“yuu-chan”) - Haruki finds Yuno a very interesting character. He wholeheartedly believes Yuno’s stories about being from another planet, yet is very inquisitive about it, making it hard for yuno to continue their story. He admires their writing ability and often pesters them to let him read their writings. Despite their differences in personality, they get along well and can be seen hanging out together often outside of unit meetups

Koni (“koni-senpai”) - Haruki looks up to Koni and frequently comments on how he wishes he was as charming and cool as them. He sees them as a reliable senior who he can learn much from despite being equally as capable as them. The two have a sibling-like relationship and can be often seen around the school grounds walking together, wherever they may be heading to.

Michi (“michi nee/nii-san”) - Haruki and Michi are similar in many ways and they quickly became close friends upon meeting each other. Haruki enjoys conversing with him about each others interests and finds it very endearing that she always eagerly listens to whatever he has to say. He admires Michi for his optimism and always speaks of him in high praise. Haruki loves her hugs the best out of all his unit members.

With others

ASTRA (“astra nee-san”) - Haruki and ASTRA have developed a sibling-like bond, in which Haruki is often doted on yet nagged by ASTRA. He enjoys spending time with her and considers her as his family. Whenever Haruki encounters a problem or has new things in his life to share about, he will always approach ASTRA to tell them about it.

Sumire (“producer-san” / “sumi nee-san”) - Haruki was initially intimidated by sumire’s strict demeanour, however, he warmed up to her after getting her a birthday gift and in turn discovering her love for cute things. He now sees her as a role model as well as a reliable older sibling, and though he gets into trouble and is often reprimanded by Sumire, he knows she will always have a soft spot for the unit.

Trivia

• He wears his stage outfit earrings in his everyday life due to his fondness for the unit, which he once broke while putting the rest of his outfit on, and was close to tears until Koni revealed that they had a spare one on hand.
• He is clumsy and often gets hurt here and there. Due to the fact, Ryuu started carrying around a box of cartoon band aids in case Haruki gets hurt. 
• Due to the complexity of his signature, he often takes longer than the rest of his members to sign albums, and gets told off after fanmeets by their manager, alongside Ryuu, who spends much of his time enthusiastically conversing with his fans.
• Haruki has two different signatures, due to the fact that his official signature is too time-consuming to sign in a mass setting.
