Teagan Sutton

Teagan was born to Piers and Shelly Sutton one rainy and muggy August day. The pregnancy had been hard for Teagan's mother; the doctors had told her that it probably wasn't smart for her to get pregnant, there were risks to her and the baby. But Shelly was a very stubborn woman who wanted a child with her husband - after all, she and her husband didn't have outdated ideas of "heirs", but there was something to be said about having a child that would carry on their legacy and remember them after they were gone. Well, unfortunately on the August day, Shelly Sutton got to hold her baby before Teagan was whisked away and, despite the doctors' best efforts, passed away. Teagan was left to the care of his single, and some would say, unready father.

But Piers Sutton was a stubborn as his wife and as stubborn as Teagan would prove to be. He took a personal hand in raising Teagan, he made sure that Teagan always knew his father was there for him. He was unwilling to leave the raising of Teagan to caregivers and maids and butlers and the like; Piers Sutton may have come from money, but he was a reasonable, sensible man who wanted to impart on Teagan lasting skill sets that would keep him afloat. Teagan was always a quiet sort; he was surprisingly well behaved, right up until he wasn't. He had gotten in trouble before for making sarcastic comments and taking no bullshit from his peers (why would he let them all talk shit about him anyway?). And then, when Teagan was around fifteen, his father was diagnosised with lung cancer after a life time of smoking. Unfortunately, within two years, Piers was on his death bed as Teagan held his father's hands in the last moments. At seventeen, Teagan attended his father's funeral with such a blank stiff upper lip, some people were suspicious.

That never mattered to Teagan, because he was now the owner of a multimillion dollar company and, though he would never admit, completely unready to handle it. Instead of dealing with the issues, he threw himself into his schooling and working on getting himself used to running a company. For a few years, Teagan was the most no nonsense company owner around and had filled his plate with things he thought would make his father proud. Unfortunately with the death of his father came the sharks; people didn't think Teagan could handle running the company, that he would run it into the ground. At every turn, Teagan was faced with people that started rumors about him (going from 'he works too much, he'll collapse' to 'he doesn't do enough work, the company will collapse') and people that were in it all for their own gain. By the age of twenty, Teagan learned how to spot someone who was lying for their own purpose within thirty yards. And something in Teagan broke. He had graduated from university and he was sitting on top of the world, but he wasn't happy. He took time to start going out more, starting to party hard. Amongst the club goers who always drank too much, Teagan was still used for his money, his status, his good looks, but on that level, it seemed...better. He could pretend he was wanted, pretend he was loved. So Teagan found himself biting off way more than he could chew - during the day time hours, he would run his company (perfectly, he might add) and then once the work day was done, he'd go out drinking and partying. For eight years he managed on too little sleep and way too much coffee, assuming that it was the best he could have because what did he care about his life for?
