PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION

Hattie is very friendly, affectionate, and always does things with the best intentions; but, as she's gotten older, Hattie has become increasingly morally grey. Hattie has changed a lot from the girl she used to be; after enduring what she did in middle-school, she has become significantly more quiet, and she's become more down on her luck than the pure spirit she carried her younger years. While some qualities are the same, for example her curiosity and intelligence, she has lost and obtained different skills through her experiences such as her articulation. Hattie is very open now but very calculating and concise like her past self. Hattie has the same level of impulse and lack of control as she used too aswell, that being pretty low; as she often rushes into dangerous situations without thinking of the consequences. Hattie was very good charisma but since her arrival in America it has dropped significantly due to her foreign nature and looks. This results in her inner alienation and insecurity. In addition to her recklessness mentioned prior, one of Hatties greatest challenges is her indirect absurdist tendencies. It's unknown where she picked these up from, but these traits are most noticeable when she's in a dark mental space. These can range in the danger posed to herself, from simple remarks to escapism to downright suicidal behavior. Usually if its bad, she stays with Bo 24/7, as he acts as a straight man keeping her in check. Due to his past, he usually knows what to do. Despite all this, Hattie comes off as fun and likable, and is very well coordinated in social situations. She can often detach herself from her worries, and can often make a good time out of most situations.

TRIVIA

Since middle-school, Hattie has had an odd fascination with classic literature, Japanese and American. Because of this, she picked up writing as a hobby in both languages. She dreams that one day she could make a living off of her work.

Kenshin and Hattie's father-daughter relationship is still very strong. Bo often drives Hattie by motorcycle to Yugūre to visit her parents; and usually after dinner, Hattie, Bo, and Kenshin go out to karaoke and other niche places in town for late-night adventures.

Hattie has a small lotus tattoo on her left hip, but often covers it up with a band-aid as it's seen as taboo in Japan. She got it with Bo in Australia after a night of drinking, and while she doesn't regret it, Bo does happen to be the only person who knows.

BACKGROUND

CHILDHOOD

Hattie was raised in a family of 4 with her mother and father, Kenshin and Chiyo Mochizuki, and her baby brother, Makoto, who is often called Matt. She also has 2 pets, an albino rat named Theo, and a blue parakeet named Jazz. Hattie's family is relatively wealthy, and in the January of 2006 they moved to Bonheur, Lousiana for Hattie's Health. Hattie goes to a very pristine private school that she very much dislikes; so since meeting her, every moment outside of school, Hattie went on spontaneous adventures with Annabelle Scotts, and ended up meeting her childhood bestfriends.

TEENAGEHOOD

When Hattie turned 12 in 2011, Her parents announced to her and her now 7 year old brother that they would be moving back to Japan due to Hattie's good health and her father's job. Hattie was devastated, and for the rest of the year fell into slight depression. After moving back to Japan, Hattie would send letters to Annabelle, but felt no better, as she othen regrets leaving and is constantly thinking of her. Hattie returned to her school and was welcomed by many of her peers. She also became good friends with a old acquaintance of hers, Fusae. Fusae was a very bad influence on Hattie, and peer-pressured her into joining the "Popular Clique" at school. They would often pick on kids like Annabelle, and anyone who they saw fit. They would also steal and use boys. Hattie hated this, yet put up with it for years contracting more and more guilt. She finally snapped her freshman year in highschool and left them for a bigger more accepting friend-group, and began wearing Gyaru fashion.

ADULTHOOD

Hattie is now 20 and living with her boyfriend in a Tokyo apartment. She is working at a popular bar at night and attends college classes during the day. Hattie's parents bought her apartment, and loaned her money after graduation. Since then, Hattie has been saving up to buy a plane ticket to Lousiana in hopes to see Annie, who she still has been thinking of for all these years since she moved away. Hattie achieved her goal and landed in Louisiana with Bo. She quickly took a taxi to Annie's childhood house, not even thinking to visit her own, and after a quick reunion asked Mrs. Scotts Annie's current location. Upon arriving, the two girls shared a long reunion, and Hattie ended up staying in Lousiana for a month in a hotel. When it was time to go, the two girls swore to keep in touch, which they have been doing ever since.

ATTRIBUTES

STRENGTHS

Hattie is very articulate with her emotions. She has been described as 'an open book' when it comes to strong emotions like sadness, anxiety, or joy; and when it comes to more pressing, calculating matters, Hattie is always quick to share her insight, even if it's not what others want to hear.

Hattie is very intelligent. While she may not always be 'school smart', Hattie was able to grasp the concept of English at 7 years old, and is now completely fluent in two languages. She is also very logical and has incredibly good negotiative and persuasive skills. Less notably, she is able to understand insightful themes of literature and obscure concepts.

Hattie is sisterly and openly loving individual with a strong urge to protect those around her. She always makes herself available to others and closely watches after them too. Hattie also forms quick attachments, and is subjective to being over-protective at times with the best interest at heart.

WEAKNESSES

Hattie's health issues have still remained prominent throughout her life. While living in Bonheur helped, they did decrease once again upon arriving back in Yugūre. Over time she's learned to take care of herself, but in the Tokyo winter's she often is in urgent care with Bo, and the two's boss has become used to the two's patchy work schedule.

Hattie is quite materialistic and doesn't particularly realize it. While she's not wealthy of any sorts, she relies on objects or money to make her happy seeing that she's become more and more harder to please. She can be seen as spoiled, and only when she is deprived of her belongings does she realize the distraction she forces onto herself.

Hattie is seen as foreign throughout her visit to Bonheur because of her behavior and fashion. While she plays it off as not bothering her, inside she internalizes her sense of loneliness. She takes a long time to acclimate to American customs again, and, like her childhood self, becomes easily frustrated; like when Bo can easily fit in compared to her.

SKILLS

Hattie has been bilingual ever since her dad taught her English around the same time she started talking. Now, she is fully fluent in two languages, and has a good understanding of accents such as British and Australian.

Hattie has had excellent persuasive skills since was a child, and she uses it to her advantage when debating, negotiating, or simply asking for something.

Hattie developed the skill of self-awareness in middle-school, and while it can impact her negatively due to her insecurity, Hattie gained a sense of deduction from noticing her relationships and feelings. This has also made her more empathetic and understanding of others.

If you ask me what love is,
I'll answer: 'me',
Just because diamonds don't crack,
Doesn't mean I need any.

The kitty-cat in the canvas cries, Raspberry Time,
When night falls and you're not here again,
I feel the same way, can't stop this lonley feeling,
But if I go down that hill, I can see your place from here.

There goes the last great american dynasty,
Who knows if she never showed up what could've been,
There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen,
She had a marvelous time ruining everything.

"Annie? Annie Is that you back there!? Whoa, you look.. different? • Fair, I guess I look different too. Nevermind that, I'm back! And we need to talk!"

After reuniting in late spring of 2019, Hattie and Annie quickly rekindled their friendship. Despite no longer having imagination or the wonders of childhood, they used their bond and fond memories of the past to bind them together once more. Hattie had planned this for a month or so with Bo and Elijah, and it was all she'd think about, but subconsciously became the root of her anxiety. While Hattie had changed mentally, she also changed physically and personality-wise, she was worried Annie would't like the person she's become; even worse, turn her away. But when they did finally meet, talk, and settle some situations, they spent the next month together and cherished it, making every second count. After Hatties descent back to Japan, the two managed to keep in close contact and do not plan to part again.

FIRST IMPRESSION

"Bominz? You're name is Bominz!? What? Bo. Minz. I know English, but you just don't make any sense. Stay away from me during school. After? Maybe we can talk.."

Bo and Hattie's relationship is complex, but the two love and respect eachother very much. Their reasons for meeting, reuniting, and eventually dating was pure luck. It was by chance that any of the things that brought them together happened, but the two decide to call it fate. Bo is arguably more mature than Hattie, he also watches after her because of her mentality and how it effects her as a person. Hattie does the same for him, resualting in their shared, trusted bond. The two love to bicker, but they are extremely affectionate and similar, bringing out eachothers good side and comforting the side left behind. Both say that the other saved them.
