Personality:

Yami is a sadistic and dangerous woman, leading her minions to commit intense and violent crimes in order to grow her Army. She is unafraid to attack anyone who crosses her path. Her initial motives implied that Yami is against Unnatural Magics and the Crest, and appears arrogant and above the law. However, she can become incredibly manic when passionate, becoming a personification of intrusive thoughts.

Powers and Abilities:

- Umbrakinesis: Yami has natural umbrakinesis, which is a banned magic by the Crest of the Stars. She is able to create monsters made of shadow, as well as cause emotional and psychological damage when piercing shadows through one’s head or chest.

- Pyrokinesis: Yami has natural pyrokinesis.

- Chlorokinesis: Yami has natural chlorokinesis.

Backstory (Spoilers):

Rami was a Radixollam who grew up in a Garden (Radixollam Village) in Mythenhaft Forest. They were mocked their thorny appearance and had rumors spread about them behind their back. Struggling to make friends, their life changed when at the age of fourteen they met Yosei, the Princess of the Fairies. Despite being a princess, Yosei and Rami became best friends. Rami soon developed a crush on Yosei, gifting her a bouquet of roses. Upon returning to their Garden that evening, a fellow Radixollam had spotted Rami’s romantic gesture. The Radixollam teased and taunted Rami’s crush on the Princess of the Fairies. Embarrassed and ashamed, Rami fled into the dark woods.

Lost and alone in the woods, a figure appears to Rami: their Guardian Demon, Akuma. Akuma tells Rami that she had seen the way they had been treated over the years, and thought that they should get revenge. Akuma then transforms Rami, giving them new powers and new feminine humanlike form. Rami became Yami, and used her new pyrokinetic powers to cause the Fire of Mythenhaft.

While initially intending to only set the Garden ablaze, the fire spread to the Chimera and Fairy territories. As Akuma calls for Yami to retreat with her, Yami dashes into the wildfire to find Yosei to take her with them. However, Yosei doesn’t recognize her old friend, rejecting her help. A burning tree falls on Yosei, causing her to lose her left forearm. Yami, bitter from the rejection, leaves Yosei in the blaze.

Akuma and Yami fled and went into hiding, knowing they’d be punished for causing the Fire of Mythenhaft. The two formed Yami’s Army, plotting to overtake the Crest in order to become above the law. They started making members for their Army, creating Karami and Nuime. After recruiting Daiyaru, Akuma had to leave the Army, as demons are not allowed to give powers to mortals like she did to Yami. It is implied that Yami knows how to summon Akuma if she needs her.

Yami now rules with an iron fist, sending out her minions to grow her Army to take over the Crest, but still infatuated with her childhood crush.

History in Chimera Heart (Spoilers):

Arc 1

Yami makes her debut in Chapter 4 after interrupting a television broadcast. She states that society is too reliant on technology for magic, and it disregards those with natural magic. She declares war on the Crest of the Stars, Manthia, and all of humanoidity. While her Army members make appearances throughout the Arc, she stays out of sight.

Arc 2

After Ginga briefly quarrels with Celestia Starship, Yami appears from the shadows, inviting Ginga to the Army.

During the New Year's Festival, Ita, Kashi, Naya, and Tyon are confronted by Yami, Ginga, Rogue, and Orokana. Yami emerges from the shadows and extends the same offer that was given to Ita and Kashi previously: join Yami's army or die. The group reject the offer and attempt to fly away. Before they can all get safely to the Chimera Village, Kashi is shot down by Ginga. He lands on the snowy forest floor, where is greeted by Masuku and Yami. Yami threatens to kill him and shoots Kashi with a small dosage of umbrakinesis into his chest. This causes Kashi to experience vivid hallucinations, which give the illusion of him reliving the Fire of Mythenhaft. Weakened and unable to move from the effects, Yami prepares a "more fatal dose." Before Yami can use her umbrakinesis to kill Kashi, Ita swoops in and fends Yami and Masuku off long enough for the siblings to escape.

Arc 3

After getting strangled and electrocuted by Daiyaru, Yosei wakes up imprisoned in a dark room, tangled in thorny rose stems and missing her prosthetic. Yami greets her, wanting to “catch up.” When Yosei doesn’t recognize her, Yami reminds her of the memories the two shared when they were younger. Yosei’s eyes go wide. Yami was her childhood friend, Rami.

Yami confesses her love to Yosei, but her proclamations become aggressive and violent. When she tells Yosei that she “wants to just crawl inside her ribcage and live there forever,” Yosei uses her xylokinesis to shoot a tree branch into Yami’s face. Yami tightens the stems restricting Yosei.

Yami then goes on to tell Yosei her backstory and how she tried to save her, but because of Yosei’s rejection of help, it cost her her arm. Yosei is mortified at the fact that Yami caused the Fire of Mythenhaft. Yami claims that the cruel treatment from her Garden caused the Fire, and that everyone is evil deep down. Yosei shouts that the Rami that she knew would never do this, causing Yami to retort “That’s why I’m Yami now.” She leaves Yosei alone.

Ginga is a member of Yami's Army. She catches the eye of Yami after attacking Celestia Starship with her powers.

Masuku is a member of Yami's Army. She is regarded as her right-hand woman.
