Merit Clair Goodwin

Pale brown hair, pale green eyes, and pallid complexion, it is as if the sun has bleached the colour from him. The only real colour to him is the sunburn on his cheeks. Merit is a man who naturally looks haunted, and age has only accentuated it. It does not help that he stares too much and blinks too little. With his straight nose, gaunt face, and thin lips all piled on top he looks more like a corpse than a still living man.

Merit keeps his face clean-shaven and his hair cut short. Despite the length, his hair still manages to look a mess as he has a habit of running his hands through it. His clothes are old and well worn, but are in fair enough shape considering his profession as a Stranger.

Even as a child, Merit has been described as odd. However, it wasn't until his mid-20s that it took full affect and his life has been unraveling ever since. Whatever took hold of his father and caused him to leave without a goodbye has got him too. Be it a curse, a possession, or regular old madness, it has hooked Merit and won't let him go.

A constant nervous energy surrounds him. Always in motion, never able to sit still and settle down. Merit has a habit of stringing sentences together in an almost nonsensical fashion. While not a constant, it happens enough for people to take notice. He interacts and reacts in ways that aren't seen as correct, such as developing strange fears and habits. Merit, for the most part, can't say why he's doing these things. It simply feels right to do them.

Even before his his life took this turn, Merit was an introspective person who preferred to be on his own. Merit's never understood other people. They're odd with strange and contradictory rules, and are so focused on unimportant things they miss minute details that are of the utmost importance. Merit does have a fairly good grasp on how others want him to act. However, even if he is able to grasp what is expected of him, he can't always get himself to actually do things the way others want.
