In the world’s beginning, in place of the moon burned a second sun, lighting the Earth from both sides. Together the two suns were called the Eyes of Life, giving power to Eight young gods of the world and allowing them to create creatures in their own image to live upon the Earth beneath their heavenly realm, So’raréyo, the Great Sun Constellation.
The Ninth came into existence from a mortal when the Fifth gifted it one of the two Eyes of Life. The mortal swallowed half of the gods’ power, dividing the realm of the living from the realm of the Eight, forever severing them from the world and creatures they’d created. Realizing the mortals would die out without their gods to facilitate their creation, the Ninth sacrificed the power of the sun to gift all mortals with the ability to create new life independent of the whims of their gods, and granted each creature an eternal spirit so that their souls may cross through the Grey and into So’raréyo upon their death, so that they may be reunited with their creators once more.
The First of the three Creators; guardian of air, creation, and the inner spirit of all living things, taking the form of a lynx.
The Second of the three Creators; guardian of water, gravity, and the preservation of all things, taking the form of a brown bear.
The Third of the three Creators; guardian of land, growth, and prosperity, taking the form of a wolf.
The warden of fire, home, and good hunting, taking the form of a red fox.
The warden of judgment, death, winter, and the symbol of the moon, taking the form of a crow.
The embodiment of instinct, drive, and spring, taking the form of a pine marten.
The embodiment of wisdom, story, and summer, taking the form of a great horned owl.
The embodiment of compassion, mercy, and autumn, taking the form of a moose.
