THE SIXTH
The Sixth is the embodiment of instinct, drive, and spring. The creatures of the Northern Lakes region believe it takes the form of a pine marten. Its body is constantly bursting with growing flowers and vegetation, and it carries a pair of antlers on its head that are covered in flowers and buds, resembling blooming trees before they fruit. Wherever the Sixth’s paws or body contact the Earth, flowers spring up and grow, wilting and dying again when it moves away. Its Children are of the mustelidae family.

The feisty Sixth is boundless energy incarnate. It streaks across the land, flowers and forests springing up in the wake of its paw steps. The Sixth has the power to grow and control plants, able to influence their growth rate and the forms they take. It is associated with new beginnings. It occupies the third tier in power level, which it shares with the Seventh and Eighth.

The Sixth is known for its nosiness and penchant for mischief, and always got on especially well with the Fourth, the two finding great fun in coming up with new games to play with the mortals on Earth. It loved to be involved in the affairs of both its fellow gods and the living, and found endless entertainment in the plights of mortals. The Sixth adored playing tricks on them especially, from trite slights like scattering pollen across the Earth to make their noses run, or more sinister ploys like growing vegetation atop bogs and fens that would trick mortals into stepping upon them, leading them to disappear beneath the water to never resurface again.

Reckless Blessings

The Sixth greatly favoured mortals who lived their life in earnest based on instinct and emotions. Creatures that were driven by love, hate, revenge, misery, or any great emotions captivated it. It held no moral alignment; whether the mortals wished to unite conflicting groups or encourage suffering to start wars amongst themselves, the Sixth did not care. It would offer its blessings of strength, stamina, and tenacity to any creature who could plead a case with enough zest, regardless of their intentions of how they would use the gifts. The Sixth encouraged the extremes of both euphoria and despair in mortals with equal intensity, something that most of the other Eight deities found distasteful and callous, especially the Fifth, Seventh, and Eighth.

Change of the Seasons

When the Fifth stole an eye of life, the world cooled considerably, and sparked the first ever winter. Faced with an ice age in the wake of losing a sun, the Sixth took up the mantle to end the cold, and uses its gifts from the sole remaining sun to bring forth spring. Its decision inspired the Seventh to follow suit and bring summer, and for the Eighth to transition the seasons slowly back to the inevitable winter.

The Sixth had never realized the Fifth’s despair until the day the sun was stolen. It was incensed that the Fifth had never confided in it, leading it to miss out on such a spectacular exhibition of despair; precisely why the Fifth never much got along with it and avoided it as much as possible. The Sixth was the only deity of the original Eight to feel excitement at the birth of a new god, ecstatic for the opportunity to play with a deity born of mortal blood and find out how it felt about its ascension. It was incredibly disappointed by how quickly the new Ninth forfeit all of its powers to become mortal again, and that it didn’t get to be at the forefront of the most interesting things that had ever happened in the history of the gods.
