The Nines (The Second)

The Second of the three Creators is known as the Keeper of the Seas. It is the guardian of the primordial rivers and the summoner of storms.

The form of the Second grew in the First's domain of space, creating the basis of the Earth. The Second holds the world together at its seams through its overwhelming strength, forcing all tangible matter to move downward toward the centre of the planet. It controls the rains and the flows of the tides, and is the reason that water does not drip off the face of the Earth and into the heavens.

Of the Nines, the Second by far holds the least interest in the affairs of mortals. It is incredibly reclusive, preferring to spend its time submerged in water among its own aquatic creations, and rarely graces the land with its presence.

Though it was kind for the most part to the mortals of the primordial era, even granting the occasional blessing, it spared no sympathy to overconfident land creatures who believed that the Second would be generous enough to revive them if they drowned, and entered seas or rivers to search for it. Any mortal to infringe upon its domain would be swallowed without remorse, and the Second would send the soul the Fifth’s way to be purged. Not even its own ursine Children would be spared. Though mortals of the primordial era had no concept of a permanent death, they had the sense to grow wary when their fellow creatures did not return from the waters, and learned to leave the Second alone.
