Tomás Fernandes Delgado

Tom is a first generation American in his family, his parents having moved to the United States from Portugal a few years before he was born. He practically grew up on the waters around San Fransisco, his father working on a ferry boat and letting him tag along whenever possible, and they'd go fishing on his own boat in the bay on his days off. He had dreams of becoming a sailor from a young age, thinking it would be so exciting to sail around the world, and he ended up joining the Navy not too long after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Though working a bosun job would've been a natural fit for him he was really drawn to the heavy artillery and ended up training as a gunner's mate instead. Even now that he has a few years experience and thousands of miles under his belt, he's just as excited about it all as he was when he first joined!

Personality

Tom is definitely a man's man, he has never had any trouble fitting in with other guys and making friends (and maybe a few enemies.) He's a very passionate, prideful person who loves attention and praise, and can be quite cocky and arrogant. He's not that great at being bossed around or taking orders, and while he will do it he has a hard time holding back the sarcastic comments or a snotty attitude when he thinks he knows better. (And just in general he tends to think he's the "expert" on many things.) If he ever makes a mistake he'll fix it, but he damn sure won't ever actually apologize or admit he was wrong...unless he wronged someone who is very special to him. He's just really full of that "joie de vivre", or whatever you want to call it, and is generally in good spirits, and doesn't like dealing with anything or anyone that's going to ruin his good time or put him in a bad mood. As a manly man who is secretly overly concerned with how others see him he doesn't like displaying any emotions that could be perceived as "weak", such as fear or sadness, and does his best to avoid expressing these feelings when he has them. He likes to joke around and goof off, sometimes a little too much, and even in the face of danger he'll play it off like it's all fun and games and he's some sort of invincible hero who can handle anything. He can at least be depended upon to never shy away from a fight and always takes his place behind the big guns whenever shit starts going down.

Mannerisms

He has a tendency to talk with his hands a lot, and in general has a hard time staying still. He likes to keep in shape and will do pushups and stomach crunches and things like that to work off his extra energy before bed. He's very affectionate, but in a "manly" way, and likes making any excuse to put his hands on other guys, like putting them in a playful headlock or slapping them on the ass to congratulate them on a job well done. He doesn't usually start fights on his own, but if someone were to ever throw a punch at him he'll throw one back in a heartbeat. He's annoying even in his sleep, he snores a LOT. :x

Voice

First thing anyone notices about it is he is often LOUD, it can sometimes be hard to tell if he's angry or not because he shouts for seemingly no reason. It's also quite deep, with a bit of a husky quality to it. He doesn't really have any discernible accent, and there is almost always a cocky but playful tone in his voice, he just sounds like a loud, macho douchebag. XD

Preferences

Likes: the ocean, swimming, fishing, seafood, boats, working out, attention, men
Dislikes: taking orders, losing, formal gatherings, being ignored, unsolicited advice, the realization that he's probably going deaf...

Looks

Hair: A warm brown color, cut fairly short and left a little longer on the top. It is sometimes slicked back with pomade, but there is always a little "curl" left in the front. He always has light facial hair on his chin and/or a light mustache, unless he has just shaved.

Eyes: Brown, similar in color to his hair.

Build: Muscular and strong, he has broad shoulders and a lot of muscle in his arms especially, and defined abs. He also has a bit of body hair, mainly on his chest.

Scars/Body Modifications/Other distinguishing features: He has a few tattoos: two black & red swallows on the upper part of his chest, facing each other. Two black crossed cannons on his right shoulder, two black and white nautical stars on his shoulder blades (in the same position as the swallows.)

Clothing

Whenever he can get away with not wearing a shirt he won't wear one, unless it's really cold or he's in a situation where he has to dress up, he's going to be shirtless. XD Out of uniform, he pretty much just wears t-shirts, tank tops, and jeans. In cold weather he'll always wear a turtleneck sweater, and has quite a collection of them.
