General Info

Local Time God Ruins Everything. And I do mean everything. They're also the parent of Thennakarsis and Nat.

Gun'ha has a friendly exterior, but as you get to know them more, they start acting more hostile to you. Kind of a horrible person, yeah?

They have a rather deep, androgynous voice. It sounds like a man and woman speaking at the same time. Gun'ha's voice also has a slight echo.

Backstory

Oh. Man.

Before the universe was created, there was one entity, and it was the God of New Tongues - made out of various spirits that would eventually go on to become the gods and celestial beings. One of these spirits was Ganvarrare, who existed to disagree with the God and make it realize errors in any of its plans. When the universe was being created, Ganvarrare's disagreements with the God started to pile up and up. This got so bad that they had no choice but to split off and work on its own project.

This wasn't to last, however; Ganvarrare was only able to create a pocket dimension, separate from the soon-to-be universe. Soon after its creation, they were caught by the God of New Tongues, and were tortured to death for their deviance. The God kept their soul for later, and left their body to scatter. Later on, when the God of New Tongues created the Shadow People, it ran into a bit of a dilemma. You see, it wanted to make a First Harand like they did with the other three types of shadow people, but they had no willing spirits left.

Realizing that they had the soul of Ganvarrare, the God of New Tongues put it into the empty shell of the First Harand, creating Gun'harand. This was a mistake.

By the way, Gun'harand found out about this sometime before Thennakarsis was created. To strengthen their children, they create them out of a fragment of Ganvarrare and themself.

Gun'harand was one of the first Shadow People to be created, and the very first of the Harands. For most of their early life, they were involved in charting the universe, reporting any new breakthroughs such as stars or galaxies to the God of New Tongues (and later the Maldedrom). It was a boring job, but it gave Gun'ha the experience they needed to do specific tasks later in their life. During this tenure as a universal charter, Gun'harand had their first child, Thennakarsis.

Unwilling to gift their eyes to Thennakarsis, Gun'ha taught him forbidden magic on how to make eyes that would allow him to see... but would not cure his form degradation. This would be the first in a long series of crimes against the universe by that bastard. Much later in their life, around 500,000 BC, Gun'harand joined the armed forces. Soon enough, they commanded their very own team, which included Kylik, their yes man, and several other Jaleli and Tukuska.

One day, Gun'harand was given a mission by the Maldedrom to check up on what Enzik, the then-God of Time, was currently doing. After a fun, eventful exploration of the time-stream, the team - or rather, Gun'harand - finally met up with Enzik. While nobody was looking, Gun'ha stabbed Enzik in the back, killing the Time God. Then, they absorbed their essence and took some of their clothes, most notably their helmet, pauldrons, and sword. This allowed Gun'ha to obtain some of the Time God's powers, making them the new one by default.

With some trickery, Gun'ha managed to convince their team that Enzik was dying when they visited them, and made the Shadow their successor as they felt nobody else was qualified for it. But in secret, Gun'harand thought that this sudden power increase was a step in the right direction, and suited their lifestyle.

But it could be better.

Drunk on power, and wanting to obtain all of Enzik's old abilities, Gun'harand fled to the Frozen Fortress, a blocked-off area of the Dark Cluster. This area was located exactly where the Big Bang started; as such, it had immeasurable energies. Once they entered the inner chambers of the Fortress, Gun'ha performed a ritual that resulted in the Drake - a crab-like demon that represented the God of New Tongue's fury - being summoned. After some discussion, a deal was made...

The general gist of it is this; Gun'harand would get the rest of the powers that Enzik had, such as speed and the ability to predict the very near future. In exchange, the Drake would harvest the souls of many Shadow People, and take up domain in the Frozen Fortress, needing energy to destroy the universe in whole. And so, the slaughter began. While that was going on, Kylik found out what Gun'harand had done, and went to the Frozen Fortress to confront them. The fight did not go well for Kylik, and she lost her right hand (and nearly died) as a result.

Gun'harand then fled, out of fear that the Drake would kill them and/or the Shadow People would find out about the deal. Once the smoke had settled, Gun'ha came back, claiming that they were doing a mission on a distant planet. After some apologies, they teamed up with Jacob Kynaston, and the two used their powers to try and weaken and subdue the Drake. Well, 'used' in Gun'harand's case - they put so little effort into it that they'd be better off actually doing the mission.

Eventually, the Shadow People decided to blow up the Cluster and the Drake's physical form, as the energy it was emitting posed too much of a risk for rebuilding. All of the Shadows soon moved into Blyssia, and got along well enough with the Star Gods. Tensions began to rise between the two factions, however. What really pushed them over the edge was when the Shadow People supported the Blyssians and Mekirai. Admittedly, this was kind of Gun'harand's fault. But not really, as the Shadow People showed some interests since the beginning? It's complicated, alright?

What matters is this; a war broke out between the groups. With Gun'harand's help, what would be a close war turned into a victory for the Shadow People and worker races. The Star Gods escaped, and Gun'ha and Jacob followed soon after. They were told to do this by Thikaid and, once they found out that the Star Gods were fleeing to an arm on the other side of the Milky Way, decided to get somebody else to do their job. Gun'harand and Jacob took a trip to Earth shortly after, to keep track of what was going on there.

During their time on Earth, Gun'harand started work on a project that would end the Star Gods for good, as well as potentially restore the universe to 'how it should always be'. (It might sound good to you. It's not. Trust me.) They shelved it, however, as it was a really dumb plan. Around this time, Jacob became friends with Shizue and Mitsuko, and she soon met Gun'harand. As the friend group grew stronger, Gun'harand brainstormed some ideas that'd 'involve' all of them working together. What won, however, was a plan where they'd help out people in the local archipelago and protect it from any invaders or disasters.

Everyone agreed to the plan, and the Unity was created. After this, Gun'harand decided to create a second child, Nat, much like they did with Thennakarsis. However, Gun'ha had a change of heart, and decided to give Nat their right eye, instead of doing the magic eyes trick again. Consequently, this resulted in Nat becoming what she is today, but it could have been worse. Some weeks after Nat's creation, Mitsuko was found dead in her home, and tensions started to rise. Again. Shizue, at first, blamed it on a former friend.

Soon, the truth of who did it started to emerge... Gun'harand. In the middle of the night, they sneaked into her house and stabbed her through the heart, in an attempt to force Shizue into more Unity work. They would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for Jacob doing some studies on native plants and noticing the murder. Then it all came tumbling down; first, Jacob told Shizue about the murder. Then, he went to Gun'harand's quarters and rummaged through their stuff, learning some alarming details about the Time God. Most notably, Jacob learned their real plans for the Unity.

It was a revised version of their early project, but I can't say much about it for spoiler reasons apart from a few things. Gun'ha would run the Unity like normal, strengthening the local area and bringing it up to modern standards. However, they would slowly gathered processed goods for the project, and then use it for their own nefarious purposes. In order for their plan to have any chance of working, Gun'ha killed Mitsuko to overwork Shizue, and blamed another person for it.

Finally, he leaked all THAT stuff to Shizue. This was the final nail in the coffin, and Shizue gathered the two and fled. Gun'harand was confused at first, but quickly realized what had happened. Angered, they fled to an island north of Japan, where they built an impressive fortress in under a month. (Time powers are great!) In this fortress, they used Thennakarsis and some other mercenaries to find out where Shizue and the others were, and sent them in to kill the group. They failed.

Once they found out that the group had entered a Shadow Person vault and borrowed tech from it, Gun'harand froze in fear, knowing exactly what was coming. To prevent it, they trained and improved upon their abilities, discovering a few new tricks along the way. After a few weeks, Shizue's gang had returned to the archipelago with a new friend, ready to kill Gun'ha. But they were not going down without a fight. The group discovered Gun'ha's fortress and trashed the place, scaring off Thennakarsis and eventually making their way to the roof, where Gun'ha stood.

Due to their training and armor, Gun'ha was able to brush off many of the group's attacks, magic spells, and so on. Not wanting to take any further injuries, they killed Jacob with a single thrust from their sword, and soon after bisected Shizue at the waist. However, the balance tipped when Nat used her tail and all of her might to knock them down. She held them in place with a spell, which was difficult to break out of due to their injuries and heavy armor. During this, Gaius ran over and stabbed Gun'harand multiple times with his sword. And they would have died from this...

...Had part of their fortress not broken off, flinging their body away from what remained of the group. Once they landed, Gun'ha crawled away from the fortress, trying to find a safe spot to heal. They came across Thennakarsis, and begged them for help. Thenna nearly killed Gun'ha then and there, but felt that if he did, they would either come back in a new form or kill him using their time powers. So, reluctantly, he carried them away. And for the next several hundred years, Gun'ha slowly recovered from their injuries.

(They were pretty bad, trust me.)

After they made a full recovery, Gun'harand laid low and acted 'good', making sure that most people forgot about the shenanigans with the Unity. If anyone tried to accuse them of their crimes, they'd deny their involvement and make up stories as there was little proof of it. Once they felt safe enough to re-emerge, they began working on a third and final version of their anti-Star God project. At this point, the world had been industrialized, making resource gathering for the project a lot easier. Once Gun'ha finalized it, they decide to start a cult front that would do some heavy lifting for the project.

And so, in the early 1910s, Sol Invictus was formed with two different faces; the "Upfront" and "Backstage" teams. You can probably guess what the names stand for. (Or not, they're pretty vague names.) Nowadays, Gun'harand runs the cult under the alter ego of "Amaranth", slowly recruiting more and more gullible workers to their cause. They prefer to remain in the shadows, telling certain members what to do, as well as designing various experiments for the cult and surrounding area.

The question isn't if Gun'harand will complete the project...

It's when.

In fact, I can tell you some of these experiments in this spoiler! I'm writing this so I don't forget, basically.

  • 1974 to 1982 - Turning random animals into intelligent, human-like beings. Ushanka Dog is a result of this. There are others.
  • 1983 to 1992 - Experimenting with various metals, machinery, and other stuff to build the project.
    • Also involves some reverse-engineering on old Maldeclone parts. You won't believe how hard it is to find Maldedrom pieces.
  • 1993 to 2004 - Creating the various weapons that'll be used to pummel the Star Gods into smithereens.
  • 2005 to 2010 - Testing various hypotheses with fragments of Ganvarrare. The second part of the '74 experiments.
  • 2011 to current - The C-Worker project. They exist to repair and build the project.
    • They're almost done at this point, and just need to be mass-produced, so to speak.

Fun Facts

  • Gun'ha's favorite color is any shade of red, and their least favorite is lavender.
  • They like wolves! Which, uh, would explain a few things about Thennakarsis.
  • In their spare time, Gun'harand hoards lost books, art, and other such stuff like a dragon. Prick.
  • During their time in the Unity, Gun'ha ate 30 oranges in an hour, as a sort of double dog dare. It was not fun for anyone.
  • They have a fear of dying.
  • One of their favorite hobbies is backgammon.
    • Gun'ha has nobody to compete with, however, as the amount of people who care about backgammon can be counted with no hands.
  • Originally, Gun'ha wore armor similar to Atemkina's, but gold instead of green. After the War, they made a new set of armor that was based on heavy armor worn by the Star Gods.
    • Despite its appearance, their modern armor is not made out of gold, but rather colored plating. Gold was too expensive and dented easily, which is true for real-life gold.
    • That's your Snapple Fact for today! You always learn something new on my profiles!
  • In order to fool everyone in Sol Invictus, Gun'harand goes the extra mile while disguised as Amaranth - fixing their hair, putting in a fake (yet realistic) eye, swapping outfits, altering their height and physique, and even changing their personality and voice!
    • How do they do this? Well, they dip into their pocket dimension and change their form and clothes. It takes only a second to do.
    • For reference, the only person in Invictus who knows that Amaranth is Gun'ha is Thennakarsis. That's it. Not even the other four elites know.
  • Last fact about clothing - Gun'ha prefers to wear formal suits when they're out of their armor.
  • They like to mess with people, but not in the manipulative way - Gun'ha likes practical jokes.
    • ESPECIALLY that one 'game' where you get people to look at your hand, but it's making the 'okay' hand symbol.
  • Gun'ha also has some other human/Shadow Person children apart from Nat and Thenna, but they're not important. Honest!
