"Water provides life and sanctuary, as free flowing and flexible to suit each and everyone of us. Our tribe should live by the same, and hold the waters sacred."

The Patriarch is an important figure in the Water tribe, and a respectable man among the other regions of the East. A Half-beast who is both physical capable and magically powerful, no one appears to rival him for his title of Elder. Many expect Kaiyo to appear as a sophisticated man, but realistically he's simply an old man with playful temper. As strong as other people claim him to be, he refuses to use violence and magic to end conflicts and tries to use other resources to get by.

About

Kaiyo is a veteran, and is against using his own race to appear dominant over others. Especially when the region has its own civil tension between humans and half-beasts, he constantly reminds others that everyone should remain equal regardless of how they were born. Admired by so many others, there are quite a few perceptive people that have seen through his flaws, such as his playful attitude can turn into eagerness and impatience. Many of the youthful often refer to him as "Old man," which he doesn't approve so much - he tries to prove that even an old geezer like him could still prove to be capable and better... without trying to use any form of magic.
Quite often that Elder likes to use nicknames. "Puppy" or "Pup" is quite a common term he uses for those who are considerably young. And he develops a deep love and trust to all the inhabitants who wish to live peacefully in the Water tribe - regardless if they immigrated to there or not.

Legacy of Kaiyo, of the Raging Waves

The young generation nowadays never heard of Kaiyo of the Raging Waves... a title that the Elder does not wish to bring back.
In ancient texts, the original inhabitants and creators of the Water Tribe were whole, bestial creatures capable of intelligence and holding magic given by the Water god who protected them. Until humans eventually migrated out into the Water region. The beasts were evntuallu outnumbered by the humans, and eventually had no choice but to integrate with the humans to preserve their own blood. Thus the beast blood among the later generations were admired, and proved their worth through strength and magic.
Kaiyo was born a half-beast in a family who's prominent features are their wolf-like characteristics. The more feral they become, the more powerful they are. Their family took too much pride and ruled the forest that inhabited majority of the land and had heavy influence over the coastal areas. Kaiyo was the youngest pup our of four children, and had to spend so much of his childhood and teenage years watching his family treat humans and non-wolves half-beasts like dirt. Disgusted by his clan's actions, he ran away from his home to live among the coast, where he was cared for a creature who lived in the waters for centuries.
Not realizing who this creature was, it wasn't until during his adult years where the figure was nobody else except for a God. He befriened the God of Water, and they've bestowed Kaiyo magic that only a half-beast could handle.

Kaiyo decided that he wanted to made a difference. With the help of his new God-friend, he ventured back into the forest to challenge his elder brothers to become the next Patriarch. But before he could make it to where his clan lived, an army of fire nomadic demons began to spead chaos and blazed the area with forest fires that stretched for miles. Kaiyo, who had little time to think, used the magic that was blessed by his God, and summoned a typhoon to cast off all the fires and removed all the demons that caused a ruckus in their region.

Background

Kaiyo could only save a fraction of the forest trees, while a majority were already burnt down. Thus, making most of the home of the Wolf clan to be completely demolished. Kaiyo, who proved very capable compared to his brothers and rest of the clan members, were acknowledged by the rest of the Water region - bestowing him the title of Patriarch. While his relatives tried to rebuild whatever glory they once had, Kaiyo could care less what they could recovered and focused on the rebuilding the forest and coastal regions. Inhabitants of the whole region began to emerge into a prosperous area in the coastal section, creating a wonderful haven known as the Water Tribe.
The creation of the Tribe began a small government where Kaiyo laid as their overseer. With the help of their God, their lands recovered in no time - as if the demons had never touched it in the first place.

Trivia

  • Kaiyo uses no weapons to fend for himself. Even if he wants to fight, he will only fight with his fists and then the magic that he was blessed with. From controlling the water to summoning tsuanmis, he can do just about anything.
  • If in danger, and he's near a body of water, the God that inhabits the water will appear in a form of a dragon to fend off his enemies until he's safe.
  • If he's not fishing at the docks, or at the forest hunting for rabbits - he's likely at his home eating... or hanging out in the hot springs... eating.
  • Anybody who is younger to him, whether it be twenty years younger or just a year younger... he's gonna refer to them as "pup" or "puppy."
  • Kaiyo loves swimming. During his leisure time, he'll like to spend hours floating around in the ocean. There are days where he'll fall asleep and the waters will take him to an island miles away from the Tribe. However... that will only happen if the Water God is not watching him.
  • Even if he says he doesn't like children or babysitting kids, he's actually quite a good father. Children of all ages love him and will climb all over him.
  • You can't convince him that seagulls are NOT demons. The amount of times his foods have been snatched by him have been plenty and just the sight of them angers him.

Feng Gong [ Friend? ]

Feng Gong may not remember him now, but Kaiyo knows about his powers quite well. He's met the Wind God more than once, and often gives him a hospitable welcome into the Tribe. The first time he's met him however, Feng Gong was in the middle of a fight with demons in the coastal region and Kaiyo appeared to support him to fend them off. He realized that his control of the winds could disturb the flow of the waters, almost concerned that the constant flow of the air will cause unecessary disaster into the beaches. Since then, Kaiyo tries his best to get on the Wind God's good side.

En Luxian [ Friend ]

But one year, a young woman, who the soldiers claim her to be "Lady En, the Commander of the Earth Kingdom" came to visit. Her excuse was only to personally see how the tribe's society worked, but instead of studying, she was immediately absorbed by the tribesman and helped her relax and enjoy her time at the beach. Since then, Lady En has softened up everytime she meets Kaiyo.

Kigen [ ??? ]

There was a period, where Kaiyo couldn't understand what happened with the Water God and how they were upset. And for a whole month that the region was affected with a tremendous downpour and most of the Water tribe had to withdraw into the forest due to the high tides. For storms that continued on for months, it was rather difficult for the tribesman to keep themselves dry and couldn't maintain a fire to last very long. Even with Kaiyo's magic... it was difficult for him as well.
At some point he felt a disturbance in the water, and Kaiyo ventured alone to track it to the source. There he met a red-skinned, large demon - who's presence was far more intimidating than the strays that came to pick at their lands. This was the only time he's met the Fire God, who was simply wandering around as he pleased. Kigen hung around the coast for only three days, watching the inhabitants struggle with trying to live through the storm until the Water God could settle down. Pitying him, Kigen offered a flame that could not be extinguished by water. Kigen soon disappeared the Kaiyo graciously carried the torch back to his home - lighting damp firesites with Kigen's gift.
Kaiyo still will not forgive the demons that spawned from the Origin himself, but he can't help but be thankful for Kigen's partial pity for him and his people. However, if Kigen appears in front of him again, he's worried about the chaotic nature around him will bring his home to ruins. In short, he's wary around Kigen - and would take all sorts of ways to stay away.

But when he decided to dive around the waters one day to hunt for food, he's met with a monster that Kaiyo founnd absolutely nightmarish to him and immediately swam away. Soon enough, the creature pursued him... but all he wanted was a little of his catch. Kaiyo, still scared of his appearance, didn't question it and gave away his whole catch for that day. In return, the Reaper thoughfully handed him a handful of sardines... and a hotpocket in return as well as a ride back home to the coast. Kaiyo calls him the "Akkorokamui" and warns others about his presence in the water. However, the other inhabitants in the region never saw what Kaiyo warned about.
