"Water is the reason of our birth; it is the healer, the destroyer and the final consumer."

In the depths of the water, you've been drowning for only a minute - but felt like a lifetime. When they've struggled trying to reach for your hand, they've failed to save you.
But you feel a pull from your body. You are too weak to open your eyes. In a moment you feel freedom from the water, where a scent of salt and wind hits your face.

You wake up and laying on the beach not far from your home. A dozen of your acquaintances gather around you and you question: "How did you get here?"

They can only assume that you've been spared by Sui-ō: The God of Water. For he watches his own people.

About

Sui-ō prefers the comfort of being underwater, but he is the last of his kind and has a hard time interacting with other people. However, he tries his hardest to maintain good contact with the humans and half-beasts that live above water. Sui-ō is friendly, as the Patriarch (his closest friend), but very shy when it comes to greeting those that he is not familiar with. But he doesn't show any bad intentions, neither does he try to inflict harm on others.
The Water Lord is not as cultured or civilized as what others portray him to be. He has a soft heart and is full of playfulness. However, he knows when someone is taking advantage of his powers or if there's someone hostile nearby - he is aware that his duty is to protect his "children" and making sure they can continue to thrive under his guardianship.

Legacy of Kaiyo, of the Raging Waves

Kaiyo was but a young pup when Sui-ō met him. A bright-eyed young boy with an ambition to make his home as he wished for it. At first Sui-ō was so distant when he tried to listen, but the pup had tried to swim his way closer, in hopes that the both could talk face-to-face "like a real man." Instead, Sui-ō ended up saving him from drowning and had no choice but to stick to the shores just to talk to him... as nervous was he was.
It's been so long since he's befriended someone above the shore. And perhaps it's over a decade since he's spoken to someone (his last encounter with a human was so brief, and it was to warn a fisherman of an oncoming killer whale). And since their last conversation, Sui-ō gifted young Kaiyo with his blessing: the powers to control the waters.

Background

Sui-ō is too shy to speak of it. But according to historical records, this jellyfish-like entity is one of the original beastsman that prospered in these lands. His family, specifically, were notably the most powerful among others and were considered as "gods" even if him and his family claimed that they weren't. Sui-ō was the last of his family to survive after an unexpected natural disaster had devestated their underwater home. The Water Lord had spent years around the wreckage, trying to understand how the disasted started in the first place. Overtime, Sui-ō had no resolution and continued to try and thrive on his own while trying to protect the descendents of the original inhabitants of the lands.

Trivia

  • Sui-ō doesn't like to fight, but if he is compelled to, then he uses the waters to cast destruction.
  • He can appear just about anywhere if there's some body of water... big enough to put his body through. Oceeans, rivers, lakes, ponds, and even puddles. Even if someone accidentally spills a small jug of water, he can pop his head out of it out before it gets dried up.
  • He is afraid of Mola molas... he's been almost eaten by one in his sleep.
  • When the Water tribe began to prosper, he's come into contact with alot of traders and fishermen. He can catch just about anything in the water, in exchange for shrimp."
  • Actually tussles with whales because they keep taking his shrimp.
  • Gets very mad if someone throws anything trash-like into the water. He's emphasizes it quite well, since the waters are clear and beautiful. The inhabitants of the Water cleans maintain cleanliness of the ocean, in exchange for Sui-ō's protection from enemies and oncoming storms.
  • Loves teasing Kaiyo. Whether it be splashing water on him until he's drenched in it, or pulling him into the water.

Kaiyo [ Friend ]

Kaiyo is one of his only friends ever since he was a young boy. And is quite attached to him. Being with the Patriarch allows Kaiyo to use Sui's powers as he wishes. Thanks to him, Sui is able to open up a bit more and social with the water tribe. Kaiyo now is much older since they've met. Overtime, Sui will occasionally become worried about his friend's health - especially when there will be certain days where Kaiyo will complain about his back hurts or his crackling knees.

Feng Gong [+ Feng Li] [ Friend ]

Rarely does he meet Feng Gong, but he is quite familiar with Feng Li - despite the absence of his physical self. Both Sui's powers and Feng Li's powers are quite complimentary; thus together could be unstoppable if they wish to be. Sui never knew about Feng Li until it was pointed out by his elder brother, Gong. Sui only assumed he was just a spirit who simply stumbled upon the Ocean that the Water Lord inhabited. Now after realizing that the breezes that flies by him every once in a while, Sui now becomes self-aware and will say hi.

The Kraken [ Friend ]

After the first sight of him, he immediately pursued, believing that he was also part of the ancient civilization that Sui was once part of. However, the Kraken was a completely foreign creature who was not aware of his origin and his powers were completely different from his own. The Kraken, too, was not sociable neither adventurous. Which explained why the two of them, who shared the same Ocean, never met until now. The Kraken sees Sui as a mere acquaintance, whereas Sui considered him as a friend who rarely visits his side of the water. And everytime his tentacle friend comes through, the Water Lord presents him with a healthy catch of shrimp and krill for him to pick up before he departs.
