DESCRIPTION
IZ is a trained musician, and in addition to teaching piano classes at the local library, she also plays keyboard, violin and various other instruments for the band General Menace. She looks intimidating on the street with her intense vampire goth aesthetic but she's very kind when anyone talks to her. She's happy to help out when she can and its a mystery how she has enough time for all her daily activities.
APPEARANCE
Iz has pale skin and wears red contacts. Her hair is black to red ombre, cut choppy on top and wavy at the ends, with wavy tendrils framing her face. She is tall and thin. She almost always wears all-black and usually incorporates fun textures and accessories. Her makeup looks are often very dramatic, with elaborate eyeliner designs.

Family
Iz is an only child. She isn't in contact with her family very much these days, due to them not fully supporting her identity. Her parents supported her transition when she was young but they resisted when she also showed interest in dating women. They were also naive about her being accepted immediately by others her age and didn't prepare her for the cruelty she could face. "They're nice kids, they're from church! They couldn't have said that to you!"
Backstory
Iz used to be in a church group when she was young and she loved the church atmosphere with the large stained glass windows and nice acoustics for the piano and singing. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience left much to be desired. While she did meet her good friend Steph in that group, the rest of the kids weren't so kind. One of the especially meaner girls tricked Iz into outing herself as a trans lesbian and it all backfired. She faced much ridicule and all the blame was put on her for lying in the house of god or some bullshit, eek! She left the group and the church and this created a rift between her and her parents due to their lackluster support.
Story
Nowadays Iz is doing much better and is surrounded by people that love and accept her. She lives with her girlfriend Alex in an apartment and loves to help kids learn the piano at her job. Alex asked her one day to help put up posters for her best friend, Sammy, calling for musicians for his new band. Iz was glad to help but then had the idea, hmm, i do music! That could be fun! While the band poster called for emo musicians (Iz says ???) she thought it could be interesting to suggest using her classically trained skills to take the band to a new level. She goes to the audition and Sammy says she's super talented (overqualified, even) and he loves her vision! she got the job! 👍

Relationships
Alex [ girlfriend ]
Iz and Alex met at the bookstore where Alex works. Iz was looking for a book for one of her students and she hit it off with Alex as she was helping her look for it. Alex's shift was ending but didn't want to end the conversation so she asked her out for coffee. They both would visit each other at their jobs a couple of times before they officially started dating, but their relationship moved along quickly and naturally after that. And now they live together! Alex's jealousy is sometimes a struggle, but they are trying to work through it.
Steph [ best friend ]
They met as tweens in their former church youth group. The group was bad news but they still remained friends after The Incident that caused Iz to leave the church. Steph took her side in the mess and Iz was grateful that she could come out of this with at least one true friend. They go thrifting together and have a weekly movie night.
Sammy [ friend, bandmate ]
Sammy and Iz meet through Alex, as the two are best friends. Iz finds it fun that the two are so different but are so close. Iz loves to watch them bounce off each other. When Iz found out about the band flyer she was excited that Sammy liked her ideas, and she appreciates his enthusiasm in all things. It's a fresh change of pace compared to her more reserved friends. She is patient with his forgetfulness and knows he'll get around to something if he really wants to, she trusts his process.
Eve [ friend, bandmate ]
met Eve through the band tryouts. Iz and Sammy both liked her sound and she got the part, over all the guitarists that auditioned. On a personal level Iz likes Eve's style and chill vibes. They definitely bond over their iconic hairstyles. Outside the band Eve sometimes joins in on Iz and Steph's hangouts.
Gabriel [ bandmate, friend ]
met through the band tryouts. He may have been the only drummer to try out but he does have a solid foundation that Iz respects. Iz notices that Gabe feels more reserved toward their friendship so she likes to reach out and is alwyas happy to do favors if he needs it. Will he ask for them? hmm. but she's trying!
