- Similar to her younger sister, Akiko generally made high grades throughout college as well. She graduated college with a four-year degree in journalism.

Mari's older sister. Being 10 years older than Mari, the two were always bound to have a fault in their relationship. After raising Akiko for 10 years, the two’s parents showed disinterest in raising a second child due to having differing views on raising Mari. Unable to bear the thought of her sister being neglected, Akiko took the matter into her own hands and swore to raise Mari to the best of her ability; even if she didn't always have the energy to keep up with her little sister’s energetic young self.
Because Akiko never wanted Mari to be at home by herself, Mari would often tag along with her wherever she went. This would bother Akiko’s peers, but not herself. Despite their complaints, Akiko wanted to make sure that Mari would never be an afterthought to her. She has since moved out of her family home and sustains a fulltime job as a journalist who travels all over the country to her heart's content.Akiko is the eldest daughter in the Oshiro family. Since she was their first child, her parents had high expectations for her. She was regarded as a kind, bright girl by her teachers during her school years. Even though there was a lot on her plate, she was always committed to her studies. This came at the expense of her social life, however, and led to the development of her greatest fault; putting others before herself.
The year Akiko turned 10, her mother told her that she was going to be a big sister. The news of a younger sibling delighted Akiko. She could hardly wait to play with her new baby brother or sister. A few months later, Mari was born. It was clear to Akiko the moment she laid eyes on her sister that they would grow up to be close. And correct she was. As soon as Mari entered toddlerhood, she was practically inseparable from her older sister; they played together, drew together, and helped each other with their studies. She was sure that this happiness would last forever.
Akiko's little sister. She watched Mari grow up and practically raised her when she was a teenager, so it's no exaggeration that Akiko has a lot of love for her. Their relationship is a little rocky since the two moved out of their family home, but they're slowly growing closer together since they start seeing each other again. She kept a lot of Mari's old sketchbooks and looks through them when she feels nostalgic about their childhood, much to Mari's dismay.
Shortly after Mari and Yusuimaru started dating, Mari introduced Yusuimaru to Akiko in an attempt for Yusuimaru to get to know her older sister, the only relative that she still considers family. To both Akiko and Mari's surprise, Yusuimaru grows quite fond of Akiko. They are both close in age and share a similar background, which allows the two to bond. As time passes, Akiko comes to think of Yusuimaru as family, and sees a part of herself in her.
She and Kagi get along well. Akiko does not see them as often as Yusuimaru, but they are always a delight to talk to when she pays a visit to the detective office they work at with Mari and Yusuimaru. It goes without saying that she falls victim to Kagi’s teasing much like her sister when she first started working with them.
